You can however earn an actual bachelors degree online through many real Universities. I've contemplated working on a Bachelors in Horticulture from Oregon State University which has a very robust program. But at $318 a credit that's $57,000 dollars for a piece of paper that I would likely never use.

I only did my stuff because of my gi bill lol if not I wouldn’t have messed with it.

That term pisses me off. No one should call themselves that. The term itself is laughable. you can go to school and grow for years upon years but still have something to learn.

It seems that with more legalization there is increased interest in working in the cannabis industry. My advice for those that are looking into it would be to do something else. There are much more lucrative and reliable occupations that will provide stable employment well into the future. Even large cannabis grow operations are automating as much as possible so learning technology would allow someone to work in almost any industry.

I'd focus on learning technology. AI is something to be looked at and there is a wealth of information and free study materials available online. I've been working through the free lessons provided by Microsoft and google

Agreed.

A story I hear all too often is a grower gets a job with someone thats trying to setup a commercial grow. They work there for several months, helping to get things going and even provide genetics. They get asked to train some low paid employee that will "help" them, after the employee is trained and procedures are documented the grower gets fucked because they don't need them anymore.

If you do go down this road, get a proper contract that promises you proper compensation and covers your ass in the event they decide to cut you out. Most of these arrangements are word of mouth and mean nothing.

The novelty of being a grower quickly dissipates when you become an employee.

Employer wants you to be there 8 hours a day, every day, even when nothing needs to be done. They end up making all the excuses as to why they can't pay more when it's really just greed. After a few months of busting your ass to make a great harvest, making the owner rich and getting the shit end of the stick you will regret having ever helped them.
