curing odor question?

i've been following these forums for since i've started this awesome attempt at growing correctly, this is my first time curing these amazing nugs but i'm a little worried or confused to whats happening right now. i havest the plants a week ago and let them hang and dry for 5 days, the stems broke instead of bend so i figured it was time to cure. i've filled the mason jars about 80%full and have been venting them for for 10 minutes both morning and night but now some of the jars seem to smell a little more like lawn clippings than herbal goodness. does anyone know if this is normal during the process or am i setting myself up for failure? there has never been any moisture in the jars and most of the buds felt dry to the squeez before going in. any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. thanks

trim away the fan leaves(little ones). then you should be good to go. i just did that to mine and the smell came out alot better. make hash or green dragon with those clippings.

The first time I dried my own bud I was panic stricken by the smell. New mown hay is what it smelled like. I used to work on a dairy farm in the summer and we cut, raked and baled a bunch of hay. It was the exact same smell. By the end of curing it was all good. I was burping my jar more often. You should also put as much as will fit into each jar without compressing it. I used to dump mine out to move the buds around before they went back in the jar to make sure there were no moisture pockets in the bud. If you are really nervous, do this.... take a nice bud and roll it between your thumb and finger while squeezing it, then smell your thumb and finger. The true scent of the bud will come out. No worries!

yeah Id say your just a bit paranoid as everyone is in the curing phase. That smell will cease once you burp more often and move around them buds, the smell is lingering b/c you havent burped enough IMHO, I had that problem, but I started to do things on a set schedule, soon as I goto the curing jar, I let it sit for 12hrs, then burp, burp... And I continue burping for 15minutes a pop every other hour, for the 1st week, then I got to burping 1nce every other hour the 2nd week, starting my 2nd week is when I notcied the pure aroma of my cured bud, its just a matter of strain/ flushing/ etc, etc... trial n error, but make sure you dont ruin your bud, its always better to over burp and come out with dry buds, than to under burp and have moldy ruined bud. thats just me though man, take it as it, work what works for you, take care, Puff1ne.
