Don't forget about us 8 cob kits! :)
I'm planning on using the same pattern as johnson growlights.
Was thinking 12" spacing for 4x4 space, but that might be too much wasted light with cobs at 24" from canopy. Would be nice to have a modular light setup

Hey guys so I got my lights today (3 day shipping wow! thanks Mark), going to wait on the video but in the mean time what parts do I need to pick up to put this all together? (wires, potentiometer, dimmer, etc) where could i get a dimmer without ordering online? Trying to save time because I only have one day off a week to work on this, appreciate the help.

ill try my best to cover the most common configs. like yours.

-100k pot (radio shack)
-10k resistor (radio shack)
-10-20 ft of 18 gauge solid core wire
-a plug end for your country, or two. (these pairui drivers actually have a decent length cord on them , 22")
-you might find an 1/8" drill bit and some 6-32 bolt, washer, nuts to be of use.
**and what ever L aluminum you are going to mount it on. I use rivets to attach my L alum, harbor freight has a special for a pop rivet gun w/ 100 rivets for $4.99. otherwise, nuts and bolts always works.

cheers

Hey mark I was wondering if you have any idea of when you will have a steady stock of these kits? I'm ordering 2 kits to get my build going but this is all new to me and after I get the first one done and get the hang of it I plan to order more just want to give it a test run first.

Mechatronix are shipping tomorrow 150 pcs of the Clear Alum version of the heatsink and 1000 pcs of the black on the 12th May. We did all our thermal testing on the clear so this works as well as the black
Cheers

OK I did see that one was just wondering if they will be steady supply from then on so my next one wouldn't be on back order just so I know what to expect in the future, thanks

Great video! Rebuilt my L aluminum frame today. The 5 COBs were too far apart in my "H" configuration so I had to shrink it down. This time I spaced the 4 corner COBs 18" apart and again the 5th COB in the center. Spread is much better!

Need some help, i want to arrange 8 cobs in a square, the same way as johnsongrowlights. Not sure how to go about arranging the aluminum frame or how much of it i need

9 works better but do a simple arrangement with 3 heatsinks @ 3 cobs each (omit the middle one if you want 8) and then 2 angles at the end tying them all together. i think @Airwalker16 build is like this, among others

yeah i kinda meant a visual for him on the racking how you fly more than one light bar with some angle framing. maybe throw a quick pic up in this thread w/some corner details/fastening/that kinda shit
