CXB spectrum vs output

Did anyone grow crops with 5000k? Just wondering if the difference is noticeable if you go that high. BTW, from an article I read, it appears that neutral white, 4000k, actually produces less plant growth than either warm or cool white and that cool white is usually best of the three. That's why I was wondering about the results with 5000k.

I am digging the 5 k Vero really digging it and i am forcing my self to purchase some and make a vero 5 k with CXB 3 k mix 5 driver unit

I'm not sure we can deduce those conclusions based on several week old immature plants.

I think some trials with mature fruiting plants are in order before we can ascertain those findings.

You can even look up the quantum efficiency for the CCD of your camera and correct your measured spectrum for efficiency of the CCD
The efficiency? o_O I don't think that is necessary.
The camera just needs to register an 8-bit value for the RGB planes. I can then toss it in MATLAB, pull a row from the arrays and plot. So long as one has a stable reference (like a mercury lamp, or fluorescent), one can use the known lines to calibrate the pixel positions.
Or use the online calibration and analysis.

It's not meant for getting absolute intensities, just relative ones, from my understanding. Use a LUX meter for getting an idea of intensity, and together, one will have a decent little rig for managing lights. One thing, though, which may be a bit of a trick is to remove the filter from the camera, so the IR can be measured as well.

When I get my camera, I'll post more info on its use. It could be the camera I ordered will be shit, in which case, I'll have to find something more along the lines of those "gumstick" cameras they use in their "official" version. (they cost ~$15, while the one I ordered cost $3.50 on Banggood...I'm always trying to find the cheapest method).

I could probably get a bunch of them from my local electronics recycler, but I'm too lazy to go driving downtown

Ha, I was "playing" with my spectrometer labs yesterday too.

Guesswork is a gamble.
I was surprised to see my 4000K phosphor was missing a big chunk of blue (it appears to be missing from 450nm-500nm), but until I get the camera I won't know exactly.
This same chunk is "missing" in the datasheet?

I always have a lot of trouble with channel clipping though, but indeed I also had a gap between blue and green. That's also caused by the channal clipping though. When I increase the light the gap gets filled up a little, but then the blue is clipped very badly and reds and green start clipping too. I found it pretty much impossible to get a full spectral distribution from the device.

This is my 3000K CXB3070:
Spectral_Cree_CXB3070_3000K.png
Blue was clipped a bit still. It's odd how the blue peak is higher than the red one. the datasheet shows the red peak twice as high as the blue. Guess the webcam is less sensitive to red.

It got even weirder when I tried it on my Oslon SSL 150 730Nm:
Spectral_730Nm_Oslon_SSL.png

700+ Nm light gave a high level of green light (which should be around 550). Guess that's why they have IR cut off filters on camera sensors..

I tried to use cutter electronics yesterday. the cutandroll promo was not being applied to the order after several attempts and a $37.00 fee of some sort showed up.so needless to say I did not order. sent e-mails on cutters web page. it seems that only a certain # of characters are allowed for response, so I sent my ?'s in 3 e-mails. but no answer was given as to why the promo code was not working.
does the promo apply to all sales? or just the cree product
free shipping for orders over $300.00. was planning on a $300+ purchase but did not do anything because of miscommunication/misunderstanding on here with @welight. do not know if the different time zones had a factor or what.
I may have woken him.
all in all I want to clarify this situation. any one else experience this. where did I take a wrong turn. I need light, HELP

you tried email on a SUNDAY and no one answers?
YES E-MAIL ON SATURDAY(first sentence of my post)....and they did reply with no answer to my ?'s about how promo code was/wasn't applied to my attempted order. welight on RIU even responded yesterday. still I have no answer to ?'s

They are out of Australia I think so your Saturday question might not be Saturday lol
I got responses the same day I e- mailed(Saturday for me, I mentioned the time zone difference in my first post). the issue is I was not told why the promo code was not being applied after a few tries. cutter electronics responded (3x)but did not answer. again my ? is promo code not working during checkout. that is all
What do I need to do to get the promo code "cutandroll" to work on cutter electronics?
promo code is not working during checkout, why?
what was the $37.00 charge during checkout? I think it was labeled GST$37.00 during checkout total. what is that for?
1 want 12 cbx3590's depending on cost if I get 12. want to use the deal that cutter is offering, seems to be cheapest at the moment. just cannot get it to work.

There's a cutter dude here on RIU. I don't know what his avatar is but look around and find him and maybe pm him and see.

I think that should be helpful info to have before decision. maybe greengene707 can help as well.
thanks to all people.

sorry this process was not simpler, did you use code in capitals ie 'CUTANDROLL', we are on the opposite time zone to US so answers may be a bit delayed
cheers

The only fees applied will be the BANK fees ie PP or CC fees, typically 3.5%. Ignore GST if you not in Australia as it will not be applied to any other country. Please email me at mark.riley@cutter.com.au, if you continue to have issues
Cheers

Bonjour
So in the end how much did you paid for 12 cxb3590...and which one did you choose?
CU
still waiting on cutter electronics to get in touch with me and answer my ?'s
@welight I e-mailed you. you never responded.(yesterday at 5-6p.m. eastern time) 1 hour after you were on RIU.
has anyone else experienced this?
CUTTER where are you???

after thinking about this for a moment, I have just decide that CUTTER ELECTRONICS has had enough opportunity at getting my business.
I will not deal with CUTTER ELECTRONICS.
I am going another route..
