Hi and welcome to D3’s Gardens! :leaf:

Old but may as well be new to the game. I’ll have lots of questions and appreciate the guidance.

After years of abstinence I’m back and with my medical card

I’m In process of setting up my first grow in almost a decade and before that most of them where pretty pitiful.

Current Setup: prime ftw
5x5 Mars-hydro tent
@MarsHydrofactory ifresh inline fan/filter
Mars-hydro FC-E6500
image.png image.png
Floraflex potpro 4x 5gallon with micro drip emitters (may go down to 3 gallons)
IMG_7336.jpeg
Little Giant condensate return pump
IMG_7334.jpeg

Wish/need List:
  • RO Res
  • Nute Res
  • Ferigation pump (seaflo 33 seems overkill for my current setup)
  • Nutes- leaning towards Athena pro
  • Maybe a controller (does ac infinity handle watering events and what dongle to connect mars fc-e6500)
Genetics on hand:
Not much atm and they are old beans.
Somango47
Sativa translove
Blues BX3 from Silas
Cheese x Blues Silas (he still around?)
IMG_7244.jpeg

Genetics I’d like to add eventually:
Ocean fruit
Nana glue
Jealousy
Dosidos 33

Currently in Veg:
N/A

Currently in flower:
N/A

Current noob questions:
  • Confirm drainage line size for potpro, is it 5/8? It’s not here yet but would like to order bulkheads
  • Any suggestions for cheaper alternatives to a seaflo 33?
  • Recommended scrog hole spacing- 3 or 4 inch?
  • Smart plug recommendations?
I’ll continue to update, Thanks!

Intrigued by the pot pro. I'd like to see more of that when you get going.
Check them out, tons of plumbing options and set ups. Amazon has a few misc parts ect but floraflex website has everything else.

This is what I love to see. Your first grow in forever & you go "full send" 5x5, automation & big light.

Thanks Homie! I was originally going to buy the mars FC-8000 but then I seen this one on sale for $449 and couldn’t pass it up. Scored my light, tent and filter for what I was originally prepared to spend on just a light. Mars app is buggy and hates my vpn but still a huge leap from where equipment was at when I last grew. Small part of me will miss the blurple though.

Anyone have any recommendations on smart outlets? One my last grow fails was when we where out of town and the power went out. Batteries where dead in my timer and lights , fans ect never came back on for days.

The aci plug I just told you about will handle that with ease.
AC Infinity UIS Control Plug, Socket Adapter to Connect UIS Smart Controllers to Outlet Devices https://a.co/d/antkQZh
Thanks, I got one on order to start out.

Got the floraflex most the way set up. 3gal pots on order instead of these 5gal.

I’ll set the scrog legs once I know for sure how high it sits with the 3 gal on there. I put a suspension system somI can lift the scrog up out the between runs. Will probably need to replace the webbing after first run or two as it was fraying while putting together.IMG_7353.jpeg

I have the 38gal tote set up with a float valve and 3/4” bulkhead for RO water. Still shopping for a nute res and pump ect. I’ve broken down and put the seaflo 33 in my cart. I have this rain barrel that’s been doing nothing for 10 years. I’m very tempted to use that as my res.

Took me forever but got most the plumbing done. It’s almost ready to test with water.

Decided to relocate the reservoirs to outside the room where it will stay in the upper 60’s most the time. Also frees up the space.

Another order from greenpoint showed up

Looking forward to running “the sweets” looks and sounds fantastic

Starting to look into tissue culture supplies. Looks like the only thing I’m missing is enzymes. Few more days of research and should be ready to pull the trigger.

Nice clean setup. Thanks for posting your build. I am interested in trying those pots someday, but I have so much to learn before I attempt it.

Had a leak on a cracked union. Got that fixed, test fired system. Everything appears to work beautifully. RO res filling now.. after fixing a drippy bulkhead. Set up the new Wyze pan cam. I like it a lot and for $40 it's almost robbery. This will be a game changer for me being able to check on the plants any and all times of day.

Got some vessels poured. Just a couple each of the roots and shoots. The athena vessels open a little violently. Will def pick up some those clear PP jar lids. IMG_7518.jpegIMG_7519.jpegIMG_7523.jpegIMG_7524.jpeg

If I were to start beans invitro what would be the optimal media? To me root makes sense but maybe a blend of the two or just a agar and nute blend to get them going?

Should have mentioned it in the OP but everyone feel free to comment, nitpick, suggest ect. I’ll give up on the journal pretty quick if I’m just talking to myself.

Soaking some seeds today, the more I look into buying clones the more selective I end up wanting to be. Probably hold off unless buying from gmo or someone with testing data at least.

I mean that’s the whole point of TC but I don’t have QT or anywhere separate to store plants until they come back clean. So I’ll start with beans and as I get more settled in I’ll consider taking in cuttings

Additional personal reference, H2O2 dilution to 1%

If supplementing res with oxine- apply at rate of 1-2 ppm ... how ever that maths out

Been 6 days, so far no signs of contamination.
IMG_7602.jpeg

Still waiting on the truffle cake seeds to arrive. Got tired of waiting so I started soaking some beans in a 1% H202 solution. Due to the somango47 and cheese x blues being over 10 years old I opted to germinate them in as sterile conditions as possible. Sterilized vessels, tools and distilled water. Distributed 500ul of 1% H202 solution to each sterilized 5ml vessel.
IMG_7601.jpeg
Gave the beans a quick wash n soak in 3% H202 to remove any debris and then into labeled vessels and sealed. Will check on them again in 14-16 hours for any possible germination.

Checked before leaving this morning, all 3 of the sweets have germinated, looks like at least one of the decade old somango47 as well. Nothing out of the cheese x blues yet.
