Damn Rockwool Cubes drying up.

Ok I've been trying to perfect my germination and seedling set-up and well I got the germination down pretty good now but my seedlings don't always live.

I germ using the paper towel method <--- great results so far,. I grab a germed seed and put it into my already pre-soaked rockwool 1" cube and put it under my fluro lights til they are big enough to be put under a 600watt hps light. Well the problem I'm having is that my day cycle is during the night(when I'm sleeping) and the night is the during the day(when I'm at work) I water the cubes before I hit the bed and when I wake up to check them out before I go to work the bitches are dry has hell. I woke up this morning to see my seedlings all falling over and the cube dry to the bone. The RH is 35%.

Is there a good way to keep the rockwool wet til the root pops out the bottom and I can move it into my system? I don't want to over soak them I just need to figure a good way to keep them wet but not too wet. Any ideas???

your rockwool is probably drying to fast because air can get to all sides of the cube so its drying on all sides, do you have a small tray or something you can put them?

I put a layer of perlite in the bottom of my tray (1/2" to 1"), then put the rockwool on top of that. I pour water into the perlite and it soaks up into the rockwool slowly, and it seems to be a bit of a buffer, helping the rockwool stay moist a bit longer. Also, it gives the roots a place to hang out when they pop out of the rockwool if I don't have time to pot them up right away.
