Debate: Are autos or photos better for beginners?

Just do it the right way to start and learn photos. You can keep an auto or two in your veg tent of photos to dick around with if you really want to

i don't have a problem with autos...mostly, but if you want to learn how to grow, you need to start with photoperiod plants and get that down. if something is going wrong with an auto, you have very little time to fix it, if you grow photos first, you get the experience to know what is wrong with your autos in time to do something about it

Autos are best for beginners because they don't have to worry about a light change, and they should be started in their final pot and not be transplanted.

I’ve never grown an auto, and I don’t think I’d steer a new grower toward them. They have their place though. Lots of parts of the world have a real short fall and it makes it impossible to finish a photoperiod plant. I know people from places like Northern Alberta grow them outside so they can get a harvest by about now.

Photos, fems specifically. More control, more resilient to fuck-ups, just more of everything.
The only thing "easy" about autos is not having to change your lighting hours. Literally everything else is "picky".

What about beginners burning them with nutes. The autos don’t usually have the tolerance a photo will. I’ve answered lots of posts from new growers with autos being burned. People burn up photos too, it just usually takes a bit more.Autos are best for beginners because they don't have to worry about a light change, and they should be started in their final pot and not be transplanted.

Having just finished my first grow I’d say photos are better to start with.
main reason being you can lose so much size screwing up with an auto.
Plus with photos you can learn training and shape the plant and all that.
i think autos would be ok for even a second grow though. There’s just too much to get a feel for initially.
