did you paint it because of the gray caulk?
Yes, I didn't like the appearance. I know leaving it white might have reflected more but this is more durable and prevents more leaks.

Note to self (and anyone else doing this):
Use flex tube between chambers. Flex tubing keeps the leaks down.
Design a better pump filter system
Also I could not find rubber seals in time for where the 1/2" PVC goes through the end cap. Have more patience and find those two parts before doing this and you will have an easier time building the system.

Another update, I may be going to chemical ferts because the fox farm nutes are giving me all kinds of new problems. They are good in a DWC or Ebb & Flow system but not aeroponics.

I have a few more days before the first round of clones is ready to go into the system.

My mother plants have gotten too bushy because I haven't needed clones lately with my aero/fog clone tub full.:leaf:

Maybe I'll post some pictures later today. I have been considering using a thick layer of waterproof table sealant or epoxy on the inside of the end caps just in case.

I forgot to mention the black paint is truck bed liner, and quite a few layers of it too. It really makes the whole system a bit more durable.

I'm not sure if this should have it's own thread but here is my Cheap Portable 50gpd RO System that fills my external reservoir for the flowering chamber. More pictures will come up later. This thing was cheap BTW... Hope my readers like it.

so instead of using 1/2 pvc you say use flex tubing between fence posting? the mister setup part? or you mean in the middle ?

In retrospect I would use the flex tubing (used for putting in lawn sprinkler systems) between fence posts and on the main supply T lines going toward each manifold.

I would also get the tighter fitting end caps, and rubber grommets for the 1/2" PVC the exit the fence post end caps through. That would eliminate a lot of head scratching.

Another suggestion is to find a way to secure the fence posts to a frame to improve rigidity. The lid I am using is too flexible to truly call a base or support for anything.

I have been trying to find a way to ensure the water drains entirely back into the res before I am 100% ready to put plants in here. This is my flowering chamber of course and I do not want to lose a plant to a problem that could have been corrected early on.

I'm going to use a pour on epoxy to create high spots inside the chamber to force the water out.

I broke my RO system trying to take pictures:


This is the tap, look in a local hardware store.


This is the first filter to remove large particles.


Then two of these filters to remove chlorine.


Oops!


Damnit!


Then the big RO canister, you can find these parts all at a local aquarium store or hydro store, some home improvement stores also have them.


Broken elbows and bits...

the black paint on the root enclosures is going to absorb light and raise the temp. it was/would be better off a lighter color.
what was the reasoning behind the black?

and is that a humidifier or a dehumidifier? are you humidifying because the roots are immature?
surely, that will come out when the plants are bigger, yea?

what was the probs that the fox farm gave you? clog? at the nozzles?


all the building and picture taking looks like fun,

The black paint is truck bed lining, it is for durability. When the plants grow they will shade the tubes anyway. I am aware that black absorbs, as I posted that earlier.

The humidifier is to keep the tent at 45% humidity without it the tent gets down to 10%. It will stay in there until the plants are respirating more to raise the relative humidity.

Heating of the res water is no problem because the water is cold from being on the basement floor. Usually the water is WAY below 60* and it seems to be working good on my thermometer.

Fox Farm nutes seem to clog up the filter, while chemical ferts seem to clog up the spray nozzle. It is a trade off.
