Diy bubbleponics

Hopefully you can answer this question. I plan on using Foxfarm organic nutes (the 3 pack). Should I follow their directions to the Thttp://www.foxfarmfertilizer.com/hydrofeed.pdf? I ask because I recall other posts about using 1/4 this during XX week. Or you know of a better link to read? Been looking around and haven't found anything that I've felt satsified about the information.
And do you have any advice on growing Fourway seeds?
It's said to have a flowering start time of 8-9 weeks. Is this going to be true also with my hydro system?

Hey 420xTexan, I had those same thoughts actually about the heat signatures. I was planing on going CFL orgionally then thought about the production quality and thought maybe MH/HPS would benifit me better. But I think as you've said that controlling the heat would be A LOT easier with CFL's

I just can't wait until NY finally allows medical marijuana for personal use. At least I won't have to worry about problems (for the most part). Thanks again for the links Roseman, MOST helpful.

A couple more questions to throw at ya....

Did you install a drain plug on your systems? Are you for or against the idea. Being I'm using a 10 gallon tote I figured it would be just as easy to flush or even empty the tote onto the outside garden plants. Or perhaps should I just purchase another tote to use to exchange?

Will the roots be ok if left out of water for a small period of time? If so should they be protected from the light or just left "suspended" on something in the tent while refilling the tote?

Also, how much is too much venting? Using a 2x3x5 (30 cubic feet) area is it pointless to get a bathroom fixture above 80 CFM with only having a 4" fan for the intake? I figured worst case that it would pull more air into the tent allowing for cooler temperatures or am I mistaken? I was hoping to reduce smell by having a bigger exhaust as well.
I installed the drain on my homemade 14g tote and for me it works great. I put a short piece of hose on the end of it and use an extra water pump that I have to drain and fill the tank. you just hook the pump to the hose from the drain, run some hose off the top to an extra tote open the drain valve and plug the pump in. then to refill the tank you just put the pump in the other tote and plug it in voila quick and easy res change or drain and replenish. the trick to installing the drain is drill your hole slightly smaller so you have to thread it into your tank and then secure with the mounting nut, and use pipe thread tape. mine hasnt leaked a drop. hope this helps someone, just trying to give back some of what I have taken.

hey been following the post. I am building the system but decided to use a larger plastic box on sale for the same price maybe 2 feet longer than the one you have pictured Roseman. I have everything figured out, but about the nutrients if i do not want to order from stealth hydro and get my own nutes in a grow shop, what should i get and how much should i add ? thank you im a newbie to the forum so correct me if i did somehting wrong.

Hey everyone....I just wanted to drop by and show you what I had going on. I hope you enjoy and let me know what you think! I am currently growing in a HydroHut Mini (Silver Edition), 400w HPS w/ air-cooled hood, dayton 265cfm to pull through carbon filter and cool my light, and the SH DWC buckets that have been converted to bubble buckets. Pulling air into the tent with a 170cfm inline that gets an 80cfm boost at each side of the tent. I just ordered a MH conversion bulb so I can grow more efficiently.

You can germinate right out of bubbleponics too right? Or am I incorrect? I thought I had seen something previous about it. I plan on germinating the old fassioned way.

But I have a question as to after the seed has germinated to about 1/4th an inch and i transplant into the rockwool and into the bubbleponics system do I just run the system with water or is that when I begin adding nutes?

Most will germ (crack) them in paper towels then put them in presoaked rockwool and set up the system as instructed. They get nothing but water until they show the second set of true leaves ( not the liitle round ones that come out of the seed). Then it's 1/4 strength for the first res change at least.

Don't know anymore than I heard about autoflower. To me Autoflower is just a short veg version of reg bud with a built in timer. I use the GH flora and I'd use the transition nutes 2-2-2 ( grow-micro- bloom) to start and them at about 2-3 weeks I'd get them full bloom 1-2-3 for the rest of the grow. Don't really know how important the nutes are for the first week or two. Like I said, don't know much about auto flower. On the lights, it's always better to go muti-spectrum but if you have to chose then HPS would be my choice due to their low veg needs.

Hey everybody,
First off I want to say a BIG thank you to all who have contributed to this thread. It has been truly educational. What a great resource this board is.

I do have a question that I haven t seen asked.
Is a 30gal Sterilite tote too large for 4-6 plants using bubbleponics? It seems most are using 8-10 gal containers. Thanks

The problem you'll have is changing the 25 gallons of water every couple of weeks at least. Not to mention more $ for nutes. Most find the 8 gal with 6 gal nutes is easier to deal with and works for 3-4 grown up plants. Grow my plants to 3' tall

How is this system better than areoponics?

You said that when you refresh your roots and give them 10 min fresh air the next day you see a growth spurt. Well areopnics you give them air every 5 min.

Also, are the amount of floros your using cheaper than a 1000 w hps?

thank you
