DIY Closet DWC Grow - First grow ever

dude, ouch!

my wifes face was all swollen, looks like allergy attack of something, i got to miss the show. good thing you didnt roadtrip for it, i guess. i hate this. well, they added a 2nd shoreline show for the 14th, in 4 days, hope this is a quick-fix with her.last time i took my wife into emergency room, she walked in,she was in ICU for 42 days, and wheelchaired out to a old folks/rehab type hospital for 28 more days.

she was sick with what her Dr called broncitus for 2 weeks or so, when she got up to get ready for new Dr apmt, she fell down, i took her in to check where she bumped her head when she fell. her body temp was at 95.8, so they kept her to watch a bit, then her blood presser went to 47/25 (Septic Shock, 20% kill rate) and pneumonia that was killing lung tissue. after she crashed, they got her BP up again, but we think there is some brain damage for low bloodpresser for so long. we watch a movie, or TV show, and a week later, she can watch it again, without remembering it. short term memory on her is shot. she crashed her BP to 50 over 30 or worse lthan that 4 times in 2 weeks. then, they had to remove 1/2 a lung due to the pneumonia.

she has a way of turning a quick stop at hospital, into a medical journal page written about her illnesses or visits.

Good company my man. I just got back from a 7 hour trip to the ER myself. We went for my wife, and as she was getting discharged I fainted and got myself admitted. Get this... I saw my heart rate hit 37. They said my BP and sugar were normal???

I think things worked out all around... it's just shitty all of us are not feeling well.

haha, that's funny. I knew we shouldn't have taken the discount flight to mexico city a couple weeks ago... my wife kept saying "everything is half price". Just kidding.

We are both much better after some fixing up from the docs. Thanks for the concern everyone.

Hulk.... I checked the trichs and things look as they did the last time I checked. Maybe 20% Amber 60% couldy 20% clear. Not yet...

It sucks when you get sick or just even having to visit the hospital for a checkup never fun.

Trichs sound like there almost ready, i have been checking mine we are around the same time frame right now....the leaves just started acting up yesterday. They doing the yellow tip and some are starting to get droppy so i think these are signs of finishing up, even one started changing shape and it looks like a hand trying to grab the light but i think thats from the heat........so much fun almost finished with this grow man .....then bam you get to throw your babies in and start another sick man.

Have you been thinking about your drying area? like how you are going to dry the harvest ? Just checked mine last night the small stems already are snaping but the big stems need more time.

I have not at all... not sure what I'll do, but I'll figure something out. Closet wont work as I will always be growing... I will probably clear out some cabinet space in the kitchen or something.

I think I'm going to cut a tiny nug off the bottom.... I know things aren't ready, but I really want to smoke my stuff (if it's good or not yet). I'll just take a bowl size bud though, nothing major.

I'm going to start my flush tomorrow. Dutchmasters site says to use the max, silica, and zone striat through till the end, even through the flush. So I will be using Gravity, FloraNectar, max, silica, and zone.

I'm leaving out Advance A + B, Potash+, and Cal- Mag Plus.

Question: Do I still need to pH the water with this stuff in there... or becuase there's no nutes, just let the pH go???

for a good, cheap home drying box, get a big cardboard box 3Ft tall, like 24x24x36 (Uhaul type) string strings acrocc the box, about 10 inches from top. hang in box, open it up a few hours, close top for a few hours. it is a controlled area for humidity better then just a closet, this way you can watch your drying speed, slow it down a touch ofr better flavor, and you dont keep handling the buds and knock off crystal. and you air hang them for better shape.

always PH the water before allowing the plants to use it.

when you open the box you still have it in dark right ? and when you check your buds you do it in the dark right ?

Your grow is so amazing for a first time grow... the pics make me just drool LOL You have WAYYYYY more self control than I do....I'd be hacking them down now!!! I know as much as you hulk, but my guess is that when opening the box, light wouldn't matter too much, but I would imagine checking them you would probably not want to do in direct sunlight or something. But yeah, that's a guess.

I am perfect now, wife is much better. Thanks for all the concern.

I do have a lot of self control, but the biggest things keeping my in control is 1. knowing the high will get better (I'm a big fan of getting high, in case you weren't sure)
2. knowing everyone on RIU would tell me how I cut it too early. I really don't like being wrong or making a mistake, and I keep reading over and over and over again that the biggest mistake newbies make is cutting the plants too early. I'm not perfect, but I won't make that mistake.

It is hard though.... I think 'it wouldn't mess things up too much if I just cut one of the big buds out of the middle'.... but then I think of all the wasted time, growing that bud for it not to reach it's full potential.

It's really interesting going to the co-ops now and looking at the selection knowing what I know about growing. I now understand how they have Indica strains listed as Sative dominant hybrids... becuase the grower cut them too early, and that is why the indica dominant that acts like a weak sativa is so cheap. I'm not trying to grow stuff they sell for $45 or $50 an eighth, I'm trying to grow the $65 or $70 an eighth stuff. And to think you can have one or the other just by altering harvest time is wild to me.... Now that I'm getting to the end of my first grow I have recognized a lot of the smaller details that one could obsess over. These will be the things that make each sucessive harvests better than the previous.

Oh, and I never told you all about the sneaker bud becuase I totally forgot to do it, haha. I've been busy.

We had visitors from the East coast yesterday. A friend from my wife's hometown, and his best friend from NC. The reason I tell you all is that the friend from NC had a Nikon D90 with him.... so, I asked him to use it for a bit.

They aren't the best pics in the world as I only had about 2 minutes to figure out how to use the thing (and man are there some setting on that damn camera).

Here they are.... they seem like a dream to me.... or made up. Just not real.

And you all better like these.... they take FOREVER to upload.

yea, jiggy, you was right, i keep that box in closet the 1sty 72 hours or so, then, i got 12 open, 24 hours closed. then, after 6 to 10 days, it goes to jars, open jars a few hours, close it over night,and so forth as normal curing goes. it is a cheap portable dryer box.
