DiY LED - Cree CXA3070

One thing I've noticed is just about all the DIY led panel builders grow in dirt, and swear by it.

DWC would give so much more consistent (and likely better) results. It just strikes me as a bit odd that the majority of DIY's techies prefer dirt over hydro.

I can't wait to eventually try out the cxas or veros with a DWC.
Thats because organic soil produces danker nugs. Results speak for them selves.

Ya it seems like a strange mix when you think about it, high tech lights and low-tech soil. But the way I see it, recycled organic soil, worm bins and microbial teas are the cutting edge in the Cannabis world. For commercial croppers chems may be the way to go, but for boutique connoisseur nugs recycled organic soil is the top dog.

To take it a step further, I suspect that organic growing has benefits that we do not yet understand. We just recently discovered that grass fed dairy fat products contain vitamin K2 which helps the body keep the arteries clear of calcium and keeps the bones and teeth strong. But grain fed dairy does not contain it. So natural butter is an anti heart attack medicine and margarine turned out to be deadly along with high poly vegetable oils. Generally speaking, I trust nature a lot more than I trust Monsanto or some other LOL.

And finally, I am not entirely convinced that chems actually yield more medicine than organic, cannabinoids. Commercial growers need to create an acceptable product to please the masses but boutique growers are genuinely striving for the best. Also consider, I spent about $200 on nutes that will last me for several years. Some of my friends spend $200/cycle for the same sized grow for their bottle nutes. Their results are nice, better than commercial, but the organic nugs always get the WOW effect and the double thumbs up. So organic is cheaper, tastier, possibly more potent, healthier, more sustainable, simpler and arguably better yielding than chem.

I grew up in a commercial chem fert greenhouse and I can assure you, the big perfect beautiful chem tomatoes taste disgusting compared to the organic ones growing on top of the compost pile. Same goes for strawberries.

HSO EMDOG. Got 3 ladies and just chopped them down. One smells like green apple fuel, similar to some durban poisons, one smells like candy fuel and one smells like green pepper OG fuel. The fuel smell is not like gasoline or diesel, it just smells like you could light the fumes on fire. 2 of the 3 were huge yielders, no larf and no hermies in any of them. Major resin tacos on the OG green pepper version. Well done HSO

Considering this is an LED thread (yours at that), I'm not going to make an argument for quality, as it could span pages with many people chiming in on what they prefer.

Instead, I'm only going to counter your cost argument.

For 100 gallons of reservoir solution this is my approximate costs (prices calculated from substance database, where I manually edit prices of each salt based on what I get them for):

The EMDOG looks dank and the new lighting setup is kick ass too.

What ladies do you got in there for the new run under all those ABs?

For 100 gallons of reservoir solution this is my approximate costs (prices calculated from substance database, where I manually edit prices of each salt based on what I get them for) ($3.40)
Now I have to go look up what I paid and weigh all this stuff out of curiosity LOL. For each cycle I use 160liters of used soil. To reamend I add:
organic EWC 3000-4000 ml - free
organic chicken manure 750ml - $0.80
organic alfalfa meal - 150ml - $0.18
kelp meal - 150ml - $0.55
P guano - 150ml - $0.70
azomite - 75ml - $0.11
rock dust - 75 ml - $0.11
greensand - 75ml - $0.17
neem cake - 50ml - $0.43

Total cost is $3/cycle. 160L soil is enough for about 20 zips for mid yielding connoisseur nugs. I would use 600X2 HPS or 500-600W LED to cover that canopy.

That covers a 3 month slow veg and 2 months flowering although I do water-in blackstrap molasses and fish hydrolysate when necessary. How far does your 100 gal take you and for what amount of light?

A soil system is infinitely more complex than hydro. You have trillions of helpers with soil. Not the case with hydro at all.

Not to mention that the runoff is damaging to the ecology

Feeding a baby an Infant Formula vs mother's beast milk is an incredibly perfect analogy on so many levels.

Day 47 12/12, ~3 weeks to harvest? Pretty excited to get my first taste of LED buds, can hardly wait.

BBCJs

This is the Blackberry Kush leaning one.

This is the more Chemmy Jones leaning one.

This one looks like a Chemmy Jones bud structure, smells similar to the Blackberry leaning pheno above with the red leaves.

Pineapple Express x Cheese n Chaze (Exodus Cheese x SSSDH)

I agree, I feel bad for babies that miss out on colostrum and breast milk. Even the organic formula uses "corn syrup solids" as a source of carbs.

Dang BT every one of those looks meaty and frosty! and still 2 weeks to go?
At least 2 weeks for sure. Should get a little fatter as they ripen I hope. Probably will fall shy of my 100g goal this round since I had a couple issues. Actually I definitely will there is no way I have a 25g average on the 4 girls in half gallon grow bags. Usually get 14-18g out of the half gals.

Yeah..... feel bad for me and all the lives i'm ruining with my inferior product...

Again, this is your thread, and I don't want to turn this into an argument about quality, but... holy shit are you guys bashing hydro growers.

I don't buy into your voodoo organic religion. Everything is a chemical.
