DIY with Quantum Boards

you need one, 50k ohm poteniometer. You will need to solder the DIMM + and - wires to it from both drivers. For dimming separately, you need a 100k pot for each driver. I believe LED Gardener has some good videos on this.

And there are other option, Arduino baords for programable/remote dimming, etc. The pot is just the easiest.
How about some suggestions for a decent dimmer for these? I'd like to run both drivers with one dimmer.

The drivers I have are HLG-320H-C2100B

Will 2 of these drivers run all 6 boards with one potentiometer. I will probably only use 4 in the tent, but I'm still looking at my options

Happy Friday Y'all .....

Little Quantum Porn from some recent chops .... Quantums are perfect for perpetual growing ... I just keep germing pairs and threes for my MEDS . Since I am space restricted for the most part - I like variety in my pipe , so I try to keep plant rotation .

Been very happy with HLG and the QBs ...

Most are still curing along and I have not sampled since I have other stuff to consume.
But anyways , the 3x3 has another Blue Dream and a white Dwarf that has begun to flower. But in the In my Mylar room , I have put the Peyote Cookies in my OCTOPOT CLONE I built awhile back. There is another Candy growing in there too.

I am using an airpot to test ( I have the green pot ) just to see what happens.
It has been getting pretty cold in the room ( dark time ) so I have a seedling heat pad on a timer to heat during late night. It's the feeding using a closed Rez that I am a little foggy with ( mostly soil guy ). So I will see how it goes. I am also gonna start CS on a branch in another week ( for pollen / seed making ) .......

I'm a bit embarrassed to admit it but yes I have bought cheap china 304diode pcbs. They may or may not be lm561c diodes. They are defo 100% low quality. Minimal copper between diodes. I have paid hlg for 5 qb 288 ( 135w kitt + 4 boards and 2 xl heatsinks) and 4 qb 120 ( bought the dc jack connector board accidentally so got the 65watt drivers) So I don't feel too bad about going the China route. But these boards with the cheap layer of copper I only feel safe running at low amp ( more efficient I guess)

Anyone have input on that? Is the minimal copper between diodes just bad all together or will they be fine at low Amps?

Honestly do regret buying these cheap boards.

Respect to the guys who put in the effort to share this tech. Knowledge needs to be shared.

I'm just a sucker for a deal.
I bought 6 mars 300s thinking it was a deal.

Converted the mars 300 to take 4 cxb2530 and used the 4 heatsink together to mount 6 of the 12 boards.

Did a wee spell check then got distracted
4 of the 6 are one 2 hlg-185h-c700a and wired in series. Running fine now after 30hrs no break.

The 2 boards that were running on the hlg240hc1400 in parallel.... ( assuming that makes 700ma ea) well one anyhow, started cackling when I plugged it in. So not running that.

What's the best setup for 6 qb288 boards and a 4x4 tent? So far I have 4 here with 2 more on the way. I have 2 HLG-320H-C2100B drivers. I'm considering just running all 6 boards with the 2 drivers in the 4x4 tent, but still might use 2 of the boards and another driver for a small mother/clone area. Whether I use 4 boards or 6 boards should I wire in series or parallel? I should be able to hook all of it up with no soldering besides to attach a potentiometer? How much less heat would each board produce running 6 vs 4 on the same 2 drivers?

HLG says that the 4 boards on the HLG 550 will veg 6x6 and bloom 4.5x4.5 or 4x5. Personally, I'd take the other 2 and build a veg only/clone area.

That was my original plan, but with the boards all running at full power or close to it I was wondering about heat and how well the boards will hold up over time. Running 6 would give around 100w per board instead of around 150w running these drivers at full power if I'm understanding things. Would that make much of a difference in heat and the lifespan of the boards?

I run two 304 boards @ 90 watts in a 3x3. Along with a single 5000k cob @25 watts. My plants need atleast a foot away from the fixture or i get yellow tops.

Its likely you'll be dimming those four 288s at some point running them at 150 watts.

It really depends on what your future plans for upgrades are.

I've got a 4x4x7ft tent, and plan on keeping plants fairly short so I should have lots of height to keep proper distance from the lights. I'm still trying to decide how I want to set everything up. Then I have to figure out how to wire everything.

Future plans for upgrades I couldn't tell you at this point. Tech is changing so fast, and money comes and goes. I may be stuck with what I have for quite a while, or I may be able to upgrade in about a year and I have no idea what I'd go with then.

Given 6 qb288 boards, 2 HLG-320H-2100B drivers, and a 4x4 tent what are some good light configurations? Either using just these 2 drivers, or getting another. I have a very small cabnet I could use for 2 of the boards, but if I am going to use a separate space I will probably get a 2x4 tent.

Thanks Chef. That's what I was thinking originally. Now I have to figure out how to wire it all up, possibly with a potentiometer on the 4 boards in the 4x4. Do I need to worry at all about heat and board life running the qb288 at max power?
