I look forward to seeing a grow with them!

:weed:

Things have changed a lot as far as autos go. Many strains now testing THC at 20% +, Mephisto has a couple that hit 27%. As far as yield, DP has several strains that can drop a pound+ plus of bud. I believe the current record for an auto is close to 2 pounds. I grow both and I'll put my auto bud up against the same strain in a photo period any day. This isn't Lowryder crap! And there are small so so photos also. You should take a look at what's available today. Only real disadvantage to autos now days is you can't
clone them. Well, you can but most clones don't amount to much. I have however revegged an auto and got a nice second crop from her. I grow either as the whim strikes me.

Why not just stick to photo strains? I cannot imagine not being able to clone. It's so easy to make some cuts, dip, and stick into a clonerbox and come back to 40 new plants ready to go. Growing from seed is such a pain (at least for SWIM)... ugh -- it takes forever. Half of mine turn to shit from something; germination issues, under watered, over watered, root diseases, stunting... what a pain in the ass. Even if you're good at it, it takes a long time versus cloning. If SWIM could avoid ever having to purchase a seed ever again it would be too soon...

LOL! To each his own! I breed and I like variety so autos work for me. And i'm growing a CBD strain right now that will be done at 70 days. For many people with plant count limits clones may or may not be a viable solution. most autos flower in 21-30 days so no big hold up there. Commercially, yes, photos are better because of the ability to clone. No, autos are not for everyone, but they are worthwhile for lots of people.

And I've got a couple of photo strains that it would be easier to clone a brick.......

And I'm not trying to sell anyone on autos. Just making the point that they grow great bud and have changed much since their early days.

Sorry to interrupt, but what is “SWIM”?

SWIM = someone who isn't me. I'm speaking about my friend.

I wouldn't be speaking about myself of course, even as a legal medical marijuana card holder, because even with a state medical MJ card -- one loses their nursing license for even having THC in their system. Which doesn't mean losing ones job, it means losing the ability to even have a job (because now you don't even have a license). If you're lucky after appealing to the state nursing board and likely needing an attorney's assistance... you now get to enroll in drug and alcohol misuse programs, counseling, urine screening, etc. Once you complete that, you're allow to have your license back while the state board looks over your shoulder. o_O

Their focus is autoflowers but the forum covers photos also. I grow both. and its well laid out and offers good information. And unlike RIU the mods there don't allow bullshit. You start talking shit there and your gone PFFFFT! Trolls last maybe 5 minutes. Its worth a look. Might find a second home. Its my home base but as you know, I'm here a far amount also.
It would be weird for me to go on a forum and not read all the arguments. But i do like new experiences so i will pop my head in.

Tang got some unebelieveable yields with autos in the past, but then he did admit runing 24/0 during the whole time====double kw/hr than most of us photo guys.

to get two NE crops per year outdoor would make me want to try them again if PA goes " legal", will see

Exhibit A:
20190217_143541.jpg vs. 20190217_144432.jpg

*Laughing at SWIMf*... Hates germination! Day 9 above and roots are pushing thru. Hopefully by day 14 they'll be close to transplant and start new clones.

SWIM is trying to get the mother 2x2 tent setup. To ensure no root disease issues, SWIM is thinking about using F1 clones to fill the mother tent as opposed to the girls started from beans. What do you think? Currently setup is not in the tents as planned, so much needs done. Need to finish setting up the mother tent (drill buckets, secure pump on a board, wipe all surfaces down, setup ventilation, etc). SWIM has one 4.5x4.5 flower tent up which is empty. One 5x5 tent that needs built plus a 4x4 tent that needs built.

20190217_144126.jpg 20190217_143800.jpg

Here' where things are heading:
1 - 2x2 tent: mother tent - 6 strains survived... lol. 2 Indica, 2 hybrids, 2 sativa's. (2 x 96W T5HO)
1 - 4x4 tent: clone & veg tent - 40 site self-made aerocloner + 30 site DWC for veg (1 x 384W T5HO)
1 - 4.5x4.5 tent: flower 1 tent: Haven't decided whether to do 20 plant or 30 plant for scrog (2 x air-cooled 400W HPS + 2 x QB324's ordering)
1 - 5x5 tent: flower 2 tent: Still unsure how many to scrog (2 x air-cooled 600W HPS + 2 x QB324's ordering)
Plus:
1 - 3x3 tent: harvest tent - for drying and curing

Obviously this is for perpetual harvesting. Every ~32 days everything moves to it's next stage. The goal being to average 2 lb per flower tent. In time SWIM would like to run 4 QB324 V2's and keep the two air-cooled HPS per flower tent; SWIM would presume that it could be possible to hit 3lb average per flower tent then.

You can grow outside if it goes legal? I didn't think you were allowed to grow in your backyard even if legal.

Depends on your state. Here in Michigan you're allowed to grow outside as long as everything is fenced, locked, and not visible from the road or neighboring properties.

Welp ..... here is that god damn meanwell that took a shit .... after a year and a half.
Boards are fine and actually like that bronzy color the heatsink ( anodized ) took after some time.

Anyhoot ... Digi-key to the rescue for a replacement driver ( HLG-320H-54B ) instead of the same one shown. And of course might as well “ up the power “ .

One note to mention..... this rig was the only one that had the driver on top of the heatsink.
All my other rigs are remote mounted. So this time I will remote mount like the others , did it get too hot ? Don’t know . My other ones are pushing 4 years and still blazing.

So to make the girls happy , I added a 4000k QB 304 to fill in @120w ( HLG-120H-C1050 ) to finish .
Until I get my shipment.

So I’m at 440w over about a 3x3 space ( corner grow ) ........

Lookin good.

Malawi & ( 1 ) Alpine have been topped.
With the other untouched ( will LST only ) .
The MI5 auto has some interesting shoot growth and will just let it do it’s thing.

SWIM just purchased 4 QB324 V2's (54 VDC) + 2 Meanwell HLG-320H-C2800A's -- on the way! Those lights look awesome. Were they tricky putting together? Would you recommend putting a computer fan on top of the heat sink or a clip-on minifan directed over the top of the sink?

I've done that myself! when running the lights hard, it helps.

NY is hashing out a legal platform for rec weed. I read a report of the conference. One of the big corporate weed companies spoke out against home grow citing "diversion" as a pretext. 99.5% of the diverted cannabis from Ca is from commercial grows! so its not just the anti's fucking with it, its also the greedy corporate weed "industry". fuck them all, I'll never buy dispensary weed unless its from boutique growers!

Some places that go medical are set up for corporate involvement and prohibit private growing.
Fuck that noise!

My guess is that Medmen spoke out against homegrows being as they donated a lot to Sen. Diane Savino and she is also pushing an anti personal grow agenda. I'll continue to grow my own for personal use regardless. They are going to allow medical users to grow 4 plants through a state program.
