DNA Genetics Lemon OG Kush grow

Just thought I'd throw up pics of my latest grow. The plan was to grow a few big plants, vegging them for 6-8 weeks, just to see what happened:

Lights:
-600W HPS with sunmaster bulb? (running at 400W because it's been too hot to run full for the last 3 months)
-65W cool white CFL
-Occasionally a 85W cool white LED as a side light now it's cooler in the tent.

Seeds:
-DNA genetics Lemon Skunk x OG#18 fem
-Serious seeds AK47 reg
-Chernobyl reg
-NLxBigBud autofem

Medium:
DIY Organic soil mix - contains..
Base:
-Levingtons organic potting compost and B&Q all purpose organic compost
-Worm castings
Additions:
-Fish blood and bone meal
-Bonemeal
-Epsom salts
-Perlite
-Rock dust

Feeding:
Very light, mainly filtered water only until flowering, with occasional Maxicrop Kelp extract root drenching on transplanting etc
In flowering she's getting a tea aerated for 24-48hrs in a bucket containing:
-Worm castings
-bonemeal
-molasses (not much, just enough to feed the microbes in the tea to help breakdown the bonemeal a little really)
-Kelp extract
-epsom salts

Progress:
Because I decided I was gonna veg for more than a month this time I was worried about running out of space so I only germed 4 seeds, 2 fems and 2 regulars. Of course I had all bad luck the regulars, which both turned out to be male (including a beautiful smelling Chernobyl male plant, which I'd have taken pollen from if I'd had space to grow it out without risking my females..)

By the time I'd sexed them (I should have known they were both male sooner but I guess I was just loving how well they were growing too much to want it to be true!) I was more than 3 weeks in. In desperation I put another AK47 seed to germ...and put it straight in under 12/12.
It is the first and last time I think I'll be trying 12/12 from seed. Growth has been unusual to say the least, and incredibly slow. Though I'm hoping to get maybe a half oz off it if it picks up the pace soon.

I'm currently about 6 weeks into flower. 3 weeks left on the OG by my reckoning. At least 6 weeks left on the AK47 hopefully, if there's any hope that it'll fill out.

Lemon OG wins the award for the feistiest seedling. Great growth, if a little bit stretchy under the CFLs (I was still using my tent and most of my lights to finish the previous grow). It couldn't hold up its own weight, though the fan soon sorted that out.


Lemon OG is still way ahead. It's in a 1.5 litre coke bottle to allow the roots some depth, see if it helps compare to my standard small starter pots. I don't really think it does in hindsight.


The others are starting to pick up by this stage, about 2-3 weeks from germ I guess. They were all under LED and CFL when this photo was taken. Which is why the nodes look so tight.


Some gnarly looking purple colouring on the underside of the NLxBB auto. It soon faded back to normal green though.


The 3 remaining after the Chernobyl got pulled.


You can see that the high temps are causing leaf tips to droop, which is why I wasn't running at the full 600W. I was touching 32C at full power, even with the 6" extractor going full blast.

Fast forward about 6 or 7 weeks (I think that I changed from 18/6 to 12/12 after vegging the OG for 2 months in the end!)

The Auto is nearly done, but is so small its barely worth the soil I used for it. I can tell you now it wasn't good smoke either! The OG is looking amazing though. Only issue is that using HPS, even with the dual spectrum, has meant that it is much taller than it would have been under LEDs (or LED + HID ). Thankfully it has now stopped stretching, so I'm not going to be hitting the light's hot zone!
The smallest plant at the front is the late germed AK47 grown 12/12 from seed. It looks ill from the heat!


The organic soil seems to be doing a great job. It's got that lovely deep green kush colour that I'd expect, without any sign of burning.




Some nice fat fan leaves and lovely buds forming. Nice lemon fuel smell. Heavy on the lemon at the moment...smells fantastic.

Cheers Fresh! Haven't seen many other complete grows of this newish and really interesting strain, so thought I'd better add my experiences. Should have a smoke report ready by the end of October.

Some bud porn from the Lemon OG. I still reckon there's 2 weeks to go, but it could be a day or two less if she keeps turning her pistil brown like she has the last 2 days and no more new ones grow! The nugs are sooo dense already...it does feel like she won't bulk out much more in size without collapsing...

Leaves are starting to get colourful now, so the end is definitely not too far off. I'm pretty pleased with this strain, and wish I'd germed another seed of it. If they all turn out as sticky and chunky as the buds on this plant then this strain has the potential to be some nice dank....if it tastes lemoney that is. The lemon smell has been overtaken by the heavy fuel kush smell now. I hope the lemon will come back as it matures, or gets stronger in the cure, cos potent lemon tasting bud was what I was after with this one.

I chopped a little popcorn bud off the very bottom of her a couple of days ago and have been letting it dry since. It's tiny, but so dense that it still isn't really dry, but I chopped a little of it into my last joint (I'm still smoking the white ice from my last grow, which tastes pretty weak but certainly isn't terrible bud).

When I smoked it I got a nice big skunk flavour coming through straight away, even from that tiny little bit of wet stuff mixed in with the ice, so when this stuff is harvested and cured I reckon it's going to taste dope. Not a shit load of lemon taste yet, but I got my finger crossed on that one. Pretty sure I'm more stoned now than I would be off just the white ice on its own too...all good signs.

Been having some end of grow issues, but 7 days or less until I harvest now I think, so I reckon it won't affect the yield or potency.

Yeah. Smelling nice now. Can't wait to cut her down, but she does seem to be slowing down. I thought maybe a week, but I think you may be right that it'll be a bit longer. I hope she lasts to the end. Got some serious yellow and brown and red and purple going on right now!!

its normal the plant is ripeningit pullin all the nutes out of the leaves dont worry your gonna have yourself some flame nice job

She is very slowly getting more brown pistils...still no amber on the calyxes yet, but I reckon the harvest window will be open from this weekend on if I want to chop a little early..there are a couple of ambers appearing on the bud leaves on the side branches. So the countdown has definitely started..

I'm currently compiling a list of potential strains to buy seeds for and grow once I've finished building my set up. Any tips or pointers you can give would be excellent as this is a strain I am currently considering. Thanks!

Pretty easy I'd say. It started to stretch a little under the HPS, and the bud size is smaller than I'd hoped, but it looks and smells good, so potency should be pretty high. The problem with the buds is that they are nuggets rather than branches full of bud. Each nugget is solid, but compact. If you're after massive yields this may not be for you, but the quality sure looks good.

That said, everything is pretty easy in organic..

Whats up with the smoke report on this Lemon OG Kush? I was considering trying this strain out but I wanna know how it tastes and whether it's some serious fire? Also how does it compare to other OG's that u have experience with? What was the flower time when u finally cut her down?
