DNA Genetics Lemon OG Kush grow

Disaster! I spotted some stuff that looks like mould in my big cola, so I decided to take the main cola off early. Probably a week sooner than I wanted to, but my night time humidity is 60%, and I think it needed to be done.

The cola weighs in at 61g wet. Not as big as I'd hoped...



I'm pretty sure it's rot, rather than mites, but I could be wrong. I've got the bud in the dryest place I could think of, the oven, with the fan on, but no heat. Hopefully that'll stop the spread? Or should I chop out the rotted bits now and dry it slowly as usual? No other buds look affected, which is part of the reason I think it's rot rather than mites.

I'll have a pre-cure smoke report on another smaller bud chopped 2 days ago in a few days. With an update once it's cured for a couple of weeks.

I don't really have any previous OG experience, so it'll be a new one for me. I also can't remember when I switched to 12/12 exactly, but I'm pretty sure it's your standard 8-9 week flowering strain. Best I can do at the moment! I'm a bit bummed about my main cola at the moment

youve got to cut the mold out asap then dry the rest

I suggest cutting all the individual buds off the colas as there is likely more mold all along the inside of that cola. Check your uninfected nugs too, mostly the bigger dense ones. Hurry, I hate seeing a good one go to waste! I'm surprised, I have a Reserva OG and this summer when mold attacked it was only strain I never saw any mold on.

Hey y'all. Cheers for all the responses. I decided to break it up into chunks as suggested, and luckily it looks like it might have only just got started. Most of the cola looks ok, and there was nothing really wrong with the core. I might have a few dodgy grams, but I've got butane and iso if I want to extract the thc from that anyway.

Will keep my eyes peeled for any more fur in the other buds though!

Bummer about the main cola man, sorry to see it happen. Glad you were able to salvage something though.

Haven't gotten to checkout any DNA beans yet but the pics you got here have me curious. Everytime i've had the Lemon Larry it always just tasted like OG not lemon (i'm big on the citrus smoke too..) so if this one actually gets it across i'm all down for it.

Definitely post a smoke report/yield up. Interested to see how it turns out.

Ok...a quick first smoke report. Great dense, sticky nuggets! This weed is strong shit. Doesn't hit you first toke, but by the end of the spliff you're really feeling the indica, and the heavy buzz lasts a good hour. It's only going to get stronger in the cure too. (my fast dried main cola is probably not going to be quite so strong though)

Flavour and smell are basically standard kush fuel smell, a bit skunky, but mustier. There is a very vague hint of citrus, but it's totally overwhelmed by the kush funk. Taste on the inhale is very similar to the smell. Not exactly the lemon I was looking for, but definitely good enough to grow again, so maybe a more lemon-like pheno will turn up...

I'll post photos of the harvest at some point soon, and a dry weight in a week.

Harvest has been drying for 5 days now, and needs one or two more before it's dry enough to trim, weigh and start to cure.



This an one of the middle-sized nuggets. I can't tell you how solid these things are. There's another shot below where I've broken it up...I've only ever once seen nuggs as dense as these, and that was off some mutant plant that I never heard of again...not only are they incredibly dense, but they are totally soaked in resin, which glues everything together and makes breaking up with my fingers tricky. The cure will change that a little, but not much.





So far so good. These things are heavy with resin, and it certainly gets me very high, and I think they have great bag appeal.

The only negatives are the flavour and smell. They are both only so-so in terms of strength, until you break them apart. The only lemon I get is when I do this...break them apart under my nose. Then I get a nice big hit of haze-like lemon, which is quickly hidden by the overwhelming fat kush stink that follows.
Flavour-wise, I don't really get any lemon on the taste, only kush. All in all it could be worse, and I'd recommend this one for any Kush connoisseur if yield isn't paramount.

Ok. Final harvest weight was 98g, which of course I'll round up to at least 100g to account for the early popcorn and other buds I've already smoked!!

So basically just over 3.5Oz from this plant. Better than I'd feared given how small the nugs were, and great considering how dank it is already, pre-cure! I did veg her for over a month though, so I would have expected nearer 5Oz really.

Here's some final pics. I may come back and do a cured-smoke report, but if not then assume that the taste hasn't changed much during the cure and that I'm too stoned off it to update



Oh...and just in case anyone was wondering about the sickly AK47 I did 12/12 from seed...that plant is damn amazing. Wish I'd vegged it really! It's about 2ft tall, with a 1ft tall cola....and totally covered in trichomes...despite having no healthy leaves left! Amazing how hard it is to totally fuck-up a grow in organic soil! (I over-used the molasses and/or epsom salt was my diagnosis of the problem by the way, so I'm back on plain water again now!)

I think that if this strain wasn't mold resistant I would have lost a lot more, so kudos to the breeder there I think.

How did the 12/12 from seed AK47 which was mostly dead a month in do in the end?? I hear you ask....well not so bad as it turns out...



It won't smoke as well as the Lemon OG though I reckon, given how fucked the leaves all are. Now I'm on the cured stuff from the OG harvest it really kicks my ass, and I am a long-time daily toker...still very little lemon taste though.
