Do LED lights cause the tent to heat up?

If the exhaust comes out of the top of the tent, and shoots out into the same room it is drawing air from. Is that bad? Does the exhaust have to be shot out of a window or into another room? Im talking about an LED set up. I rent in my apartment, and have no way to shoot the exhaust out of my apartment. Any advice would help. Thanks.

depends on the light you choose, some put out more heat than others. ALSO, you may need that heat at times, so a temp. control may be necessary.

People say LEDs run cool but mine heat the tent up real quick. I think its because I got the cheap ones. I vent out to the same room. The room is un insulated without AC so it does get hot sometimes. If your blowing air into the same room with AC, you should be good.

Maybe get some duct to steer the air towards a return vent so the heat doesn't just fill the room, ot'll get sucked back to the AC. if there is one near by and you don't share air with other apartment units.

But they are cooler if built properly. Look around the site. I have a coolhood build I have been running a couple years. 1st was vero 29's and now 16 3590's. I am able to get a mere 5 deg rise above intake. 6" down from the lights. My plants are a foot or so away. The avatar was a week ago or so. Not bad for 700w plus.

Could i mabe steer a long piece of ducting towards the screen on my window. Then find some makeshift way of it getting to stick to the screen on my window.

If a lamp consumes 100W of power, it's generating 100W of heat. The heat that doesn't conduct through the heat sink is radiated toward the canopy which heats it up.

A more efficient lamp will consume less power (watts in) to output the same power of light (watts radiated). A lot of LED arrays (especially the cheap chinese ones) are less efficient than a 400W HPS.

Don't confuse temperature with heat. Temperature of the heat sink or lamp could be low, but that doesn't tell you how much total heat is being generated (joules/s = Watts), and thus how much you'll need to cool/exhaust.

If the exhaust dosen heat the room up so much that the tent stays within the temperature you want you should be fine, if not then look to direct the heat elsewhere like out of a window.

I was also shocked to see how much heat came off led panels as well, a lot more than manufacturers lead you to believe.
