So you conveniently ignore the mandatory part eh? That's okay, most refuse to see or discuss the obvious.

My pyschic prediction? That's funny. You think more government is needed? How the fuck did inflation get started? Multi trillion dollar debt? Wars? Drug prohibition? Our government imprisons more people percentage wise than any other country and you want MORE government?

The topic was town hall stuff, ignorant people etc. I agree ignorant people should have the right to an opinion, they do not have a right to use government take my liberty away though.

i am referring to the act of shutting down a town hall meeting, as the title and original post clearly state. you're just barking and yapping about healthcare. i have nothing against the idea of you getting on a mic and spewing ignorance. thats your right as a citizen. i am simply questioning your 'right' to gather a bunch of your friends and actively shut down a town hall meeting and preventi others from practicing their freedoms of speech and assembly in said forum.

i guess its too much of an abstract concept?

after seeing about the 100th 'code pink' lady being dragged out for the same behavior to the applause of republicans, i though we would all in agreement on the issue. apparently its ok to disrupt and sabotage the democratic process if you're a republican.

but fine, lets just pretend that foxGOPnews the healthGOPindustry is not actively marketing and banking on these disruptions through publicity and general disinformation.

lets just assume that this many stupid people can simply be set off by a moderate campaign of chain-emails, designed with the hope/assumption/certainty that the recipients are too stupid and lazy to do their own rudimentary research...lets just pretend that they are dumb enough to trust only one source of collective opinions and call them "facts"...wait...ok thats all certainly possible.

so the question:

do people have the right to organize in large groups and actively end discussions between elected representatives and citizens?

does it fall within their right to free speech or right to assemble and protest?

.
Isn't code pink a liberal group? The answer to your question is ANYONE has the right to say their peace. If you discriminate one group the rest follow.

You still haven't touched the mandatory question...do you believe in freedom or is it too much of an abstract concept to live it?

i believe freedom of speech and assembly is not a right to take away the freedoms of speech and assembly of others...because you can yell and chant stupid sheepish things loudly and shut everyone up. if this is the pinnacle of freedom to you then what more can we discuss rationally?

I generally do not yell and chant foolish things. I usually ask people questions and try to get them to see any inconsistencies in their philosophy.

So I'll ask you. Do you believe in the kind of freedom where I decide what is best for me and YOU decide what is best for YOU?

i think that this manipulative system that we call a government is full a shit, both sides, republican reps and democrat reps, they all have their own specific agenda that revolves around themselfs the people dont matter to them any more, all they care about is how they can continue to subsidize different industrys to end up with more money in their greedy pockets......this past election was a joke... we pretty much had to choose between a lesser of two evils

Why not?

Stupid people are organizing these "town hall" meetings and lining them with plants, frauds and proven proponents of their agenda to make it appear as though the majority of citizens are onboard with the plan.

Why do anti-Republcan broken records have to constantly resort to accusing everyone who doesn't agree with them of :

a. Being addicted to FOX news?
b. Being unable to source any other news or information?
c. Being a "retard"?
d. Generaly being a moron, who espews what his/hers like minded brethren also espews like sheep on a cliff?

To those who practice this nonsense I ask, do you not realize you are proving yourself to be exactly the same?

a: You must be addicted to FOX news since you criticize it and it's viewers so much. I take from that you critics each must spend a lot of time watching FNC or you would not be here talking with such authority on it's content. Surely you aren't just repeating what you read online from your like minded peers?

b: From the repetitions of "stop watching fox", I gather you each have formed your opinion on the matter based on similar information. You aren't all getting your news from the same couple sources are you? Perhaps CNN, HuffPo, Daily Show? ( Do you see what I did there? I marginalized whoever says similar things. It is too easy a tactict and oftn serves well to discredit opposing views. And it's WRONG.)

c: Well I know I'm assuming a lot but here I go. When you (both sides) say "retard", I assume you mean someone who's understanding is retarted. Surely you aren't each so mean as to use a birth defect as an insult right? With that out of the way, many peoples understanding of the issue has been retarded by their bias towards Right or Left. That is sad indeed.

d: It is quite moronic to speak repeatedly in degrading manner. And when the insults sound like echos, the sheep analogy becomes a mirror upon yourslves.

Stop and think whether your post will add to debate, or simply inflame.

So in the spirit of debate I say, looking at public schools is a great way to see the way GOVT limits it's citizens ability to think for themselves. If public, GOVT funded school systems were so good at turning out learned graduates, would not more Public officials who have their own children in these bastions of knowledge? Likewise, why are the Congresspersons who want this health reform to go through not on some form of it themselves yet if it's the answer?and why WON'T they be on it once everyone else is?

I believe the poster who mentioned pitchforks said it best regarding the answer to the threads main question. LD

So it is ok for people in Town halls to do it but not me?

You posted after that so you saw it and ignored it.

The problem is that is what you do. No matter what the facts are you ignore them and walk away when presented to them, only to move onto the next lie to pump out when you are told one that sounds good. It gets old. You are all propaganda and are just trying to put out all the disinformation you can.

And landdragon, all the news channels suck and lie, and make up information to be able to sell a sexy story. Why do you think they like twitter and blogs so much, it allows them to sit there make up stuff and report what people are regergitating back to them, so technically they can get away with saying lies, because they are not actually lying, they are misinforming.

Amazing that the left, with generations of history of protests, strikes, shutdowns, taking over admin buildings and the like, is totally beside themselves at the sight of a few conservatives being "uppity" and a little less than polite in speaking "their" truth to power. No! THAT has to be shut down.

so in other words you say what you have to say and then allow the next person to speak. brilliant!

with that i cannot see how you don't grasp the concept that believers in every opinion deserve a say. here we have a group of people who feel that nobody has the right to discuss it. you don't get to speak(even if you agree with them) and nobody else does. you are silenced. and you think its their right to do this?

So I'll ask you. Do you believe in the kind of freedom where I decide what is best for me and YOU decide what is best for YOU?
Do you believe that you have the constitutional right to disallow me to speak my opinion at a public political forum, by shutting it down?

...by choosing palin with the full knowledge that he risked 'president palin' at all our expenses, and all as a cheap gimmick to sway hillary's middleaged overly-tanned fangirls.

imagine that. mccain has a stroke 2 years into his term, palin is pres for 1 week, and says "i quit". then what? thats right. president pelosi.
