Do pistols always turn red when ready for harvest?

The plants below will be 8 weeks tomorrow. The trichs are about 5% Amber. Sure seems like most of the pistols are still white. I was planning on chopping Sun. But not sure. Anyone ever run into this?

My pistols were white at chop, trichs were a mix of cloudy clear amber...the hairs turned red as the buds dried a while

That's where I am right now. I think I going to call on some patience and wait a week. This is the hardest part of the whole grow knowing the exact day or two to harvest.

One thing I do is pick the fat buds at this point and leave the smaller bud to grow
Have you ever smoked clear head bud?

Trichomes are your friend, what THEY look like is where you are at. Everything else is urban legend . You have 5% Amber right now? In my world you have have let them go too long already but that's my opinion. If you wait for your "hair" lol to turn orange , red, or whatever you are going to end up with over ripe bud. My opinion only of course. Most of what I harvest I do it while the pistols are still white.

I usually let about 10%-20% get amber before I harvest. Any earlier and a lot of trichs are still clear. That's my opinion anyway.

When I start seeing amber, I just wait until I see almost no clear trichs. Just how I do it.

Then again, that's my Jack Herer. My Bubba's Gift is better just as the amber starts. The Jack when done any earlier gives a slight paranoia. Haven't tried any later though.

I tend to agree with you. Now I'm thinking Sunday's the day again. Thanks for everyone's opinions.

Go by the trics every time, often many growers can get confused
