Does 600w hps ballast drive 2x 315w bulbs?

Dear gardner comrads... I have heard, that its possible to drive 2 x 315w cmh bulb with normal 600w hps ballast. And 3 x 315w cmh bulbs with 1000w hps ballast. Just splitting ballast power for bulbs.

This is rumoured to be a dark secret of the cmh light industry. Is here someone, who knows this? Is It possible? I have 3 digital 600w hps ballast and 6 x 315w cmh could boost my garden a much.

As an Electronics Technician/Technologist (retired), IMO doing what you are proposing is dangerous (exploding stuff and fire).

It would burn those bulbs quick if you tried to run them. Whole different wave length. Best to get a ballast agromax ballast are about 180 bucks phantoms are around 160 depending on where you look.

Basically, your ballast is "tuned" to it''s load (bulb). There is a very specific output from the ballast that is designed for a certain type of bulb (load), change the load and you affect the operation of the ballast. You could easily cause a very large power spike that would destroy your ballast and even start a fire, or electrocute yourself.

Don't do it, use a proper ballast and fixture.
