I don't think weed is a magical cure that will repair bones, cartilage, tissue, and muscles. If you have a bad back, foot problems, or other pains for which they prescribe marijuana, you should also be eating a healthy diet and doing some type of physical therapy. Weed has different affects for each individual.
While some people may experience "pain relief" others may not. Pain relief may be as simple as getting so stoned, you can forget about the pain for a while or the body buzz sensation some weeds create alleviates muscle and joint pain.
It's important to remember that medicines and doctors can only do so much. In my case, I suffer from extreme foot pain from a severe case of plantar fasciitis. Sure smoking helps me forget about the pain, but I also need to perform daily physical therapy routines and continuously strengthen my feet. My feet hurt every day, that's not going to change no matter how much I smoke. I choose to smoke so that when I work out I can forget about the pain and just focus on the routine.
I feel like my life is better because I have the ability to medicate. It is non-addicitive and you can't OD. Hopefully as marijuana becomes more widely accepted and used, new strands can be developed with increased potency and affects. I feel like this is a definite posibility.
