Can you tell how potent a plant's smoke will be just by looking at it?

You can get an idea of how much resin is present by look and feel. Resin does not always mean good smoke. You can also tell in a relative way by the number of 'crystals' you see, but it is only relative to the genetics of the plant. If you are using clones, you can look at one or the other and determine which will be the more potent. If you have an unstable hybrid, or bagseed generally, there is almost no way to tell. When using seedbank seeds, you can get a reliable high-potency strain that does not vary much from plant to plant, but potency is still slightly variable due to genetics even if they may look identical.

Crystals. You want lots of crystals

You can;t tell how far a frogs gonna jump by looking at its legs....
