Drying to a perfect cure

I seemailed many threads on curing but not many on drying. So here's a thread to drying. I recently harvested and it is day 3 of hanging and drying. First I chop in the dark before lights on. The reason for this is because all of the starches settle down Into root system when lights out. When lights are on the plant is working again and the starches are brought back into the plant. So chopping before lights on it a great tactic for a quality harvest. Hang upside down. I split the stalk in half up to the first bud site. Wait a day or 2 then cut off the fan leafs. Then wait another couple days and cut off the stalk. Cut the buds at the stems, once all is cut off the stalk, place I to a brown paper bag with 1 or 2 holes at the top. Roll the bag up as you would with your lunch in elementary school. Check on it every 8 hours flipping the buds. Do this for a couple days depending on dryness of the bud. Once this is done you move to the next step, the cure process. Place your buds in a glass mason jar filled about 3 quarters or less. This should impose sure your hard doesn't sweat. If it does you need to go back to the paper bag. Burp the jar a couple times a day for about 15 minutes for about a week. Then Burp once a day for a week or 2. Then Burp once every other day for a week. A good 4 weeks cure will ensure you have terpy buds. Even longer is better.IMG_20151129_204515-01.jpeg IMG_20151129_204718-02.jpeg IMG_20151129_204712-03.jpeg 20151202_005100.jpg Screenshot_2015-12-03-14-17-29.png

Not stop working but the starches settle when lights out. All trichs are past cloudy starting to turn amber which is my preference I perfer a more racey high.

There is one other thing I have found that is worth mentioning.

If you are fortunate enough to have a cold environment (~60 degrees F), drying occurs extremely slow. Average sized colas can be hung to dry for typically 7 to 9 days. Then jarred for 12 to 24 hours. Then left out for a few hours and it will be ready to enter the long term cure. What I've found is that after the prolonged hanging time, by the time they do a brief sweat, all of the hay smell is already gone. This works for me even when the humidity is in the 40's.

Does anyone know of any technical, botanical articles that confirm that night or dark harvest results in starches retreating to the roots and this being beneficial to the final product? I've been trying to find confirmation of this detail online and can't find it.

I always disagree with the paper bag though, i swear that shit will have my buds crispy by the end of the day lol. Temps and humidity is a huggge factor and should never be overlooked when drying imo. Sexy looking bud though lol

We cut our hay early in the morning, before the grass has had time in the sun. I presume for the same reasons. We cure our hay in a barn door months after its cut.

I'll ask my hay guy.

I'm pretty sure horse owners are advised not to let horses graze on grass clippings because the starch overload can cause laminitis.

Good fkn guideline dude, obviously area humidity/dry/light/dark level dependent, but good nonetheless. As my humidity is always high plan on testing a few different methods inside with some light oscillating non direct fan involved
