Ducting help please...

I am moving my 2 4x4 grow tents into a 10x13 room.. i have removed the tent covering and am using the frame to hold the lights.
I have a 5000btu air conditioner and a 400cfl inline duct fan...

what i had planned to do was run the ducting through the lights pulled by the duct fan into a duct-Y-connector and have the exhaust of the air conditioner on the other side of the Y both feeding outside.

what happened was that the air conditioner exhaust was so much stronger than the duct fan it blew it backwards through the lights..

i now have changed this setup to start at the AC exhaust which goes to the lights and then out the window..

what concerns me and my question is:
is this the best way to configure this? i am concerned that i am blowing hot AC exhaust into my lights, is that going to be detrimental?

thanks in advance

this didnt work at all...

im at a loss, i guess ill just have the AC go out the window, and the lights fan sort of point at the air intake for the AC

ok your over thinking this

the venting is a 400 cfm fan tho how many lights 2 only
are u controlling the smell on the exhust out of the house

yes u can use a Y spilter on the exhust .......... suck the hot air out of the room tho the lights then it pass tho the fan (add a backflow dampners) then little more ducting add the Y fitting...then the ducting to the vent end point ....................the ac u have the ducting then anouther backflow dampner then connect it to the Y

the dampner will stop it from going up the back if the ac is off or if u cut the fan off ...........it is after the so the heat from the AC will not build up with the Lightheat untill near the end point of the venting path

so it is
light - ducting - light - ducting - fan - ducting - backflow dampner - ducting - Y fitting - ducting to end point
then ac is ....ac - ducting - backflow dampner - ducting - connected to Y fitting

yes i considered that, but since the AC is strong enough to get the light fan to stop and go backwards, wouldnt it just keep the blackflow dampner closed the entire time?

your venting a 400 cfm fan correct..............a 6 inch inline fan that is rated for 400 cfms by active air with a db rating of 92

they have 2 kinds of backflow ......one that is weighted and one that is spring (spring cost more) but it stops the air flow the exhust of the ac would need some power behide it to open it up

Y's, elbows, flexible ducting all restrict badly. It is best to have both lights in line and your duct work as straight as possible. Personally its not worth the struggle. Run 2 separate systems inline fan for your lights and a separate exhaust for your A/C. Do you scrub the air before exhausting outside? Good Luck JAS

ya i have it as 2 seperate now, its working ok i guess, i just only have 1 hole out the window insert that came with the air conditioner... i guess i could try and cut another one for the lights fan
