DWC Growth Issues

Hello This is a first time post. GREAT SITE !!! love the info!
I usually find the info i need by just searching and data mining but this time to no avail. Here is my problem.
5 gal DWC bubble bucket (self contained and dedicated air pumps for each)
In 2 weeks I have gotten at least 10 inches of root growth (if not more) but no vertical growth on top side of plant. PH is at about 6.2-6.6, I thought it could be water temp, I addressed it and found that the water temp was acceptable, I have soil plants right beside and they seem to have top growth alright but the DWC is Stunted. Any suggestions would be a great help.

Thanks in advance!!! :blsmoke:

lower your pH... hydro should be 5.8-6.2. needmore info from you:

using nutrients?
if so what kind?
light schedule?
lighting system used?
strain growing?
how often do you change your dwc res?
bug problems?
defficiency issues?

That's just DWC man, I've done 4 grows using DWC so far. Don't worry about how tall the actual plant is, how many nodes high are you? For example I'm currently growing a vanilla kush n a NY purple diesel n at 2 weeks in i believe they were at least 6-8 nodes deep and only 4-5inches high but just a shade off being round as dinner plates! xD As old mate above said though abit more info would be handy, and yeh your Ph is just a touch too high....not as high as me though! :D

Peace

Wow dint expect such a fast response thanks

using nutrients? Yes
if so what kind?
Advanced Nutrient Iguana Juice grow
light schedule? 18hrs days
lighting system used? 600 watt HPS
strain growing? (cotton candy(f) x purple skunk(m) cross)
(green crack (f) x purple skunk(m) cross)

how often do you change your dwc res? weekly
bug problems? not that i am aware of (no visual trauma)
defficiency issues?
not sure what you mean

THanks for the info , ya these ones are less than 4 inches and have 5+ nodes about a tea saucer size, i think i might just flip it to twelves and see what happens, my soil girls just beside these are about 6+ nodes deep and about 6-10 inches tall

lol you'll be cool. Just don't forget they're goin to stretch in flower! and light distance? bout a foot away if you wanna play it safe, but if you can put your hand above your plants and if it doesnt burn you, it's safe for your bushy bitches.

Peace

Its normal for plants to stay nice and tite in veg in DWC as well as find many of my first node stem sites growing rite along with the main Kola in late flower. Its up to the growers preference in how the growers growing if ur growing beasts then id leave it all on if ur planning on lollipopping and growing several main Kola plants then take the bottoms off. In DWC I've seen plants stretch up to six times there beginning veg height with as little as thirty days veg and harvested up too eight ounces per plant. Just depends point is lettum rip remove only what's neccesary and allow everything else that's tryna make it to the top make it. I know I went on and on but it kinda all fits in.

because ph is all over the place with dwc dont try pinpointing it at eg 6.1 otherwise you will be adding ph up n ph down all day long.
its best to keep it within the "ideal" range. about 5.6-6.4 should do it. some use a slightly larger range, look it up and experiment with your plants maybe try 1 plant out of your grow and see the difference. some are pickier than others just like with nutrient strength.
it all sounds complicated but its easier once you have done a few grows and remember its a weed ! growing a bit to smoke is easy as 1,2,3 its perfecting it thats harder. getting bigger yields etc comes with experience but smoking while learning is a booootiful thing.

forgot to say im noticing this using 600w with dwc too. short plants, lovely roots and stalk thick as my thumb but 8 inch plants lol.
short node spacing etc means its getting loads of light not having to stretch at all. prob a lovely healthy plant which wont need supporting as she strong ? if she the right colour looking nice and nice healthy roots dont stress as these girls usually show us if there is a problem.
have you covered your buckets to reflect light n heat ? its always a good idea if not !
take some pics put them on here n you will be told if you got any probs.
good group on here very knowledgable the RIU posse. good luck, happy growing

Some argue that root size dictates yield , not plant size. I can kinda agree with it a little to a certain extent.

Simply because i've saw monster plants yield little over an ounce, where ass i've saw small plants yield 1/4 pounds.

The most important thing that is going to dictate yield imo is how fat those bud's get and how dense they are.

I've had plant's with 100's of bud sites with nice enough buds when you look at them, however they are fluffy , where as i've had a few plants with minimum budsites , but those bud's where fat and dense , to the eye , wouldn't look like half of what was on the other plant but the scales would say different.

You took the words right out of my mouth. This shit has been growing just fine without us for thousands of years.
