Hey evry1 gotta quick question
I am planing on making a homemade DWC grow, I have my two 18gal storage totes, my fish filter with bubble stones, and tubing.
Question: what size net pots should I use? I plan on doing a total of 16 plants, 8 in each tote. I have a 400w MH for veg n a 1000 HPS for flower. Also what nutes should I use? also I have a 11x11ft grow space and am planing on only veging my clones only for 15 days

Thanks for all the help.

it doesnt matter. in aero or dwc the net pot is for support only, it does not affect growth. i use 2" from clone to harvest with 3.5oz average per plant.

thanks thats wut I was thinking to but jus had to be sure......
3.5oz per plant thats awesome how long do u veg for, n wut type of nutes do you use? and do you also use dwc or aero? and what lights do u use?
my fault bout all the questions I'm just trying to reach 3.5 a plant

it takes time and knowing your strains. i run aero and dwc, 2k in parabolic reflectors, botanicare pro, 28-30 days veg. when i started i had almost twice as many plants and yielded about a 1/3 of now.

my last DWC was a 2" net pot, worked jus fine, however it doesnt do much for the plant in stability. it was always trying to fall over. stepped up to a 3" pot now, much better, but im gonna go a lil bigger next time.

Bravo: take a look at some of the videos on You Tube. They're building the same kind of a DIY rig as you described and most of the 'how to videos' go into the specs. On my last bubble tub grow I used 3 1/2" net pots and the did very well. The best thing I discovered is that if you have a Harbor Freight Tools store nearby they have a set of hole drills that go up to 5" and they do the job nicely. I think I bought mine for about $10. I hope that helps.

Thanks for all the advice guys, just ordered 3.75 net pots. prolly goin to put everything together in about a week

Bravo: yeah, I forgot to mention that the bigger the net pot the more stable the plant is apt to be. I have some five gallon DWC pots and I bought two sizes of lids with built in net baskets: 6" and 10". I always thought the 10" were a waste fo good Hydroton until a friend gave me some Sativa seeds that produced plants about 5' tall. They were a real bitch to keep straight in the 6" net baskets but they seemed okay in the 10" baskets. What do you plan to grow? I hope this helps. Hank

Stability does not even become a factor in net pot size when you have root structure that is bigger than a volley ball and almost completely solid! I use 3" net pots and the root structure is heavier than the plant almost!
