DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Sorry, I'm too lazy to search for the updated recipe.

Here is my formula for 2,5L of tea:
I take small handfull (about 40 mL) of EWC (ancient forest seems to be the king, but I use locally made EWC available in my country), 6,5 g of unrefined brown sugar (Heisenberg uses molases but I cant get my hands on those), quarter of a teaspoon of great white (I take it just for the bacteria, so it can be supstituted with aquashield or whatever product you can get that has bacillus and streptomyces) and some nitro/aquarium cleaner bacteria I ordered online (its called nitripro, it seems to help keep things clean). Add everything into a bottle, shake violently so that ewc breaks into small pieces, add water and bubble for 48 hours. Since my room is a bit cold I add a small aquarium heater to keep temps at 22 to 25 C in the brew. With each res change I take about 100-150 mL of tea, mix in about quarter of a tablespoon of ZHO (some fungi need roots as soon as possible when they become active so its better to add them after the brew is done) and pour this mixture directly on the root mass hanging in an empty bucket.

Thanx for the reply!
I am doing ebb and gro, can I just add to res. or pour divided amounts to each pot between floods or something?

I think Heisenberg said a cup per 10 gallon for prevention and a cup per gallon for curing actual problems.

What products did you add to current res?
Gh micro grow bloom, 3 ml physan20, and h202, which i stopped after 5th day, and 5 table spoons of epsom salts.

Also, do you know the newest recipe?

So, will any quality, pure "Sphagnum" be a substitute for the Ancient Forest?
I did a shit ton of searching online 6-12 months ago about this - looking for what it is I'd need and what ancient forest is; btw - it's not EWC it's humus/sphagnum mostly, though there's def EWC in it - and one thing I found out is that a lot of these "alaskan" humus companies and sellers get there freakin' humus from Canada. Look it up - Canada has huge amounts of...bogs of quality sphagum.

Thanks,
Cheers.

My updated recipe:

1 tsp mycogrow per gallon
1 tsp of ZHO per gallon
3/4 tbs molasses per gallon
1 handful ancient forest per 2 gallon

I have decided to add ZHO to ensure plenty of mycos in the res. After reading what LF reported I realized that the lab which makes mycogrow intends for you to use quite a bit in your application. This isn't much concern as far as bacteria because they multiply, but does bring into question just how many myco spores we get in a teaspoon. Since mycos do not multiply in the tea we can ensure there presents by adding ZHO. You can add ZHO directly to the res, and should add it to clone water, but adding them to the tea first will increase germination rate.

Ok thanks, i used aquasheild, great white, a few drops of orca, and a few of voodoo jice, and a big handful of ancient forest in a nylon sock, and about a tablespoon of molasses. And it seems to be working very well. The dead roots that were trapped in the tangled up masses, has thinned out considerably today. And i do have some new roots growing. However i also have them growing in the other system, which is sterile, and lots more of them, but i think that this is due to the fact that the plants are bigger and stronger. And also the roots are not getting cleaned out by the bacteria, so edge goes to the bennies for that. They are actually doing an amazing job at it. Heres a bunch of pics. If you look really closely at the net pot pics you can see new fuzzy white roots coming out. Sad thing is is that the only thing i believe to be alive is the thicker main shoots of the roots, as they are sprouting new secondary shoots on the sterile plants. All the finer hairs seem to be dead in the centers of the root masses, but i am afraid to try to remove them, as i will only damage them more.

Also, i wonder why more guys haven't posted pics? I think it would be a trmendous help for those struggling to deal with this for the first time to see more pics of the slime, and what the tea looks like when brewed, and what the roots look like as they are healing, to be able to judge their own, and have something they can measure against. We would also be able to see with our eyes, what is working and not working, and when the tea is working or not. It's just a suggestion, but a worth while one i think. There isn't really anywhere on the net where you can get pictures from onset to fully healed and back on track plants. Most threads show the slime or rot, and a big dicussion about how to fix it, and the thread ends. I'm guessin that the plants died, or got better thus ending the peoples interest in the subject. Anyon else think its a good idea? Even if we were to start another thread, cuz this bitch is DEEP! Awesome work fella's.

I know lol. Did you read my post? I have been battling it for weeks now. I have been sterile for two weeks, and decided to try to go back to the beiinies in ONE of my 33gal RDWC systems, and it has shown a dramatic difference in cleaning up the roots. I even did exactly what you mentioned, with the DM Zone, and base nutes GH Lucas Formula to get rid of the extra nitrogen). My roots were so massive, and they are down to a quarterof what there was before the slimers. And they are in the second week of flower.
Do you still think I should cut off the roots, when there is finally roots growing again?. I know those roots look dark, but its mostly lighting, and stain from the gh micro. Maybe i should use a better camera, or more white light for pics. They are surrounded by hps lol.

ppm's under 400, and temps 65-68, ph rock solid, .06-.09 rise every day or two, drinking 30-50 ppm's and a half gallon or less of water in the same period, and the flowers are growing which is crazy.

nice, i like it! Thanks for the advice. And i love voodoo juice. in coco and soil is well. But at recommended 8ml/gallon it takes a whole damn bottle per res for me lol. (2 33 gallon systems) And at $110 a bottle, its just crazy expensive! I do start my plants with a little cocktail of Greatwhite, orca and voodoo. And they explode roots. Now if i can just keep the damn slime at bay next time...

I am in need of some advice if anyone would be so kind...
I have the root slime :( I brewed up some tea last week and applied my first dose of 2 1/2 cups (2.5 gallons of water in my res) and I've also given the follow up of 1 more cup. I read something Heisenberg wrote about if a brown slime appears after the tea is applied to just stay the course and that it is not harmful but it just looks terrible lol up top the plant is growing and looks pretty decent IMO. Just looking for a second opinion, should I try to clean the slime off under the sink or cut off some roots or just leave it alone ? All I have in my res are nutrients and the tea and my res temps are 70 and under

Ps. Sorry my pictures are sideways.
