DWC veteran, but a soil NOOB

OK, so I've been growing DWC for about 4 years now with great success but I am just starting to feel that I am not a complete grower without knowing how to grow in both systems lol. The last time I grew in soil I F'd up big time and for some reason I found soil grows way harder than hydro since I could just fix my problems riht away with hydro. well anyways I cut a few clones and now I want to put one in dirt to test it out and see how it goes and I am wondering what the hell size pot should I start a clone in that already has roots? obviously a party cup would be too small right? should i just start the clone in a 3 gallon pot and just let her veg for 3-4 weeks and let her finish flowering in that same pot or will I have to start small and transfer her to bigger pots? How do you soil guys work the clones because with DWC I just put the clones right into my buckets and veg for about 2 weeks and put them right into flower. Also I believe that I read that soil like FF has ph buffers in it so basically I will never have to worry about the ph in my soil grow? any help is greatly appreciated

I would plant it in a "party cup" and grow it out until the cup is 50% full of roots, then transplant to a 1 gallon. I have to transplant again after week 2/3 of veg to a 3 gallon pot. This size will carry me through the rest of my operation.

You mentioned FoxFarm soil, I would recommend Light Warrior or Happy Frog for the "party cup" portion of the clone's life. FF Ocean Forest is a bit to rich for the little girls right out of the gate.
When I use FFOF I like to mix perlite, lime, & Happy Frog into the recipe. I have been running this for 3 years now with out any major issues or deficiencies.
Hope this helps.

I still new to the soil game but I normally when its a healthy clone move it to a 1 gallon pot until 2to3 week before its flipped. good luck

I like to veg my clones for 4-5 weeks (strain dependent). I try to transplant to the 3 gal pots 1-2 weeks before the flip to allow the plant to get settled in to the new soil.
Hope this helps bro.
