Ebb & Flow Journal

Thanks.

Today I'm supposed to switch to flowering, but I haven't gotton my HPS ballast yet so I was wondering if it was cool to flower them on MH for the next day or two until I get my ballast. I'm changing out my water today and putting in the Bloom formula. What do you guys think??

fad, they look nice but whats the rush to flower? I mean couldnt they veg a little longer b4 U change the lights...?

First day of flower, plants are lookin bomb. I'm getting my HPS ballast and some more nutes today (ran out of SensiZym).

Also, looking at the picture, would it be a good idea to trim some of the bottom leaves seeing as the canopy is pretty dense up top?

Another thing, the temperature in my grow room has recently been going up to about 80-84 during the peak daylight hours, would it be a good idea to put some homemade co2 in there. It's their second day of flowering and the weather's only going to get nicer.

What do you guys think?

Spittn - Thanks. The reason I'm flowering is because of their height, I can't let them get any taller or else I'll run out of space and burn the plants. I think they're ready for it.

WOAH! I didnt see that huge bush a couple days ago! I agree, its about time to flower! great looking plants...!

3 days into flower, looking great i think. all except for the little one.

day 8 of flowering and they're growing nicely.

i'm thinking it might be a good idea to trim some of the lower leaves seeing as its really overgrown under there. do any of you know how i should go about trimming them? fan leaves, the lower shoots, both? should i go up about a third of the way?

how do you do it?

DONT DO WHAT I JUST SAID ABOUT PRUNING!!!!!!!i just read up on it and they said you should never just snip off healthy leaves? so yea i did and my plants definitly got stunted they stopped growing for the last week now they have stayed the same height im super scared. So yea fade dont do it..

gotcha.

i still haven't pruned them but would like too, they're very bushy.
if anyone knows how to successfully do this please let me know.

nice lookin grow man ill be lucky if mine goes half as well, as far as pruning goes im no expert but u should check out videomans grow journal, he had the same problem and instead of pruning his plants he just bent some of the midlevel branches under the lowlevel branches, which let the light reach further down the plant giving him a greater yeild.

btw, how do u like the ebb and flow system? im thinkin about switchin to one from my current drip system as soon as i start flowering

tlucas - cool i'll check videoman's journal. the ebb and flow system is SO easy to maintain. you change the water out every ten days or so (depending on your resevoir size) and set everything up on timers. it's all very simple, which is why i went with it. the only downside is that it's more expensive than soil, but once you have the equipment you can reuse it. it would be pretty easy to make a homemade flood and drain system too. i plan on making my own for my next grow (need more trays).

it's the 11th day of flowering and these plants are getting huge. i'll put up pictures tomorrow or soon.

theyre ranging from 2' - 2'-6" which could cause some problems if they keep growing. the light is about 14" above the tallest plant and i can only lift it up like 3 more inches before i'm out of space. i hope they stop growing soon and start budding.

they look soo nice and bushy i think i'm gonna cut like 20 clones from the lower bud sites that aren't gonna do so well. i want to get started on another crop. i still gotta wait a little to get all the supplies for cloning.

what kind of lighting should i get to grow these clones? i need something cheap like cfl's, do any of you prefer a certain kind over others?

i have a 1000mh bulb and ballast but no reflector for it (it's being used by my current crop). i plan on expanding my grow room but for now i wanted to get started on some clones and have limited space.

any suggestions for equipment to use?

fad from what i have heard from widow maker and some real good growers on here is cfls!! i actually found a bunch at 99cent store 2 for a dollar and they push out 60 watts so yea i purchased plenty of those but yea i think like a 4 foot cfl with one bulb cool white and the other one warm on some type of rack would be the best with clones look up widow makers guide on here he has the best setups i think.
