Electromagnetism and the mind

I do not know really anything about electromagnetism for some reason. Guess I missed that in high school xD I'd heard of it but for some reason, I guess I'm just tired and half drunk, I can't seem to grasp what it actually does and where it does it.
But I've been reading and there's a lot about it being able to control consciousness and also may be a role in higher consciousness' in space.

Also something about it maybe being a complete alternative to gravity since gravity is so weak.
But Dark Matter.. For some reason I don't really take dark matter that seriously, I feel like it has the same reputability as black holes. I can;t say neither are real or not, but there is a lot of disbelief of it it seems.

What do you guys know? Enlighten me! And discuss to enlighten yourself further?
Sorry, I keep posting these mindless threads, but I feel like this would get interesting if specific RIU characters jumped in.

No one here is qualified to give you an answer. It's easy to throw around words like "dark matter" and "electro-magnetic field", but that stuff is so mind bogglingly complex that even the best scientists in the world struggle to identify and understand it. The journalists who write the stories about it don't understand it. Frankly it's just a bunch of shit that's been hyped up by idiot gurus like Deepak Chopra.

Not exactly sure what you're asking. Do you understand what magnetism is? How about electricity? Well, some people started realizing that magnetic fields induced current in wires as well as the opposite that flowing current generated magnetic fields. Some very smart people figured out that electricity and magnetism were two aspects of the same force. [This was the first unification theory. Where we thought these were separate fundamental forces, it has been demonstrated they are the same. We also have unified the EM forces to the weak nuclear force, giving us the electro-weak force.]
The frequency and wavelength of these electromagnetic (EM) 'waves' hold inverse relationships, the higher the frequency, the shorter the wavelength and multiplying them together gives you the speed of propagation, just like with sound waves. The interesting thing is that with EM radiation, the speed always ends up being the speed of light. James Clerk Maxwell, discovered this and created a set of equations that later were used by Einstein to clue him in to the principles of relativity. Maxwell is someone that anyone interested in science should know. His work was brilliant and IMO, is not given the recognition he is due by the laity. Without Maxwell's equations, Einstein possibly would have languished in obscurity. In fact we discovered that light itself is just a small portion of the entire EM spectrum that includes radio waves, microwaves, infrared, all of the way up to the high frequency, short wavelengths of x-rays and gamma rays.

No one has been able to demonstrate any EM radiation that is associated with consciousness and it does not appear to have anything to do with gravity, except that maybe at one point, very early before the universe began expanding in what we call the big bang, all fundamental forces may have been just a single one.

I was under the impression we have observed black holes, no? I thought we have seen binary star systems where one star collapses to a black hole and gives off x-ray radiation?

I guess I could be wrong but I thought the black hole debate had been settled and black holes were real and here to stay.

Well, let us continue. :)

I just got back from my clinical neuroscience guy and he has FDA approved Trans-cranial Magnetic Stimulator devices, TMS.

Looks like a dentist chair setup. Seems that pulsing fields can help correct mood disorders. And the area is very specific.

It is a golfball, size across, area under the left temple and 2.5 cm under the skin surface. And below and inboard slightly of that is the Fight/Flight center that seems responsible for PTSD signal cross.

And there is fellow that has a so called God Machine. Just the Press name of course, but he found it with double blind testing. It is repeatable in most subjects. A set of magnetic stimulations that create the awe and mystery, the sense of grand OTHER presence. Grace, Angels, etc.

And not very far tuned from that and also repeatable is the Hell experience. Shame, burning sensations, fear, delusions of persecution.

And, I saw on mythbusters a certain low frequency of sufficient energy, can make you puke your guts. :)

So, indeed the e-field does affect various aspects of consciousness, I'd say. Ergo Sum, the elusive not yet defined quantum field, may also. Non-causal and non-positional, this proposed field. Weird, but could explain a lot.

As is common knowledge, black holes cannot be seen since their intense gravity prevents even light from escaping. However, such cataclysmic objects can not go entirely unnoticed. Using the Hubble Space Telescope, scientists have observed the disc of spinning dust and gas surrounding a black hole called a quasar accretion disc through a process called gravitational lensing.
