Generally speaking I'm not fond of the overabundance of both space satellites and excessive communication frequencies. I'm all for technology, but I also think that at some point we end up pushing the limits too far. I kind of miss the freedom we had back in the 1992 of not being beholden to a cell phone 24/7.
I concur with the satellite thing. I think swarmsats are a bad idea. One day, there will be a collision with something crewed.

On the other thing, the marginalization of libraries scares me. Stuff like professional journals, where the price of entry was once being competent with multivolume indices and the card catalog (usually housed in a masterwork of cabinetry), now lives behind steep paywalls.

I agree on both fronts. Additionally I think that we may be beginning to suffer from a transparent frequency pollution. The amount of unseen frequencies that we live within have grown exponentially greater every decade. This stuff hasn't been studied long term at all, and it worries me. The dependency upon it is also worrisome. What are the ramifications when it all goes down one day, and we don't have a hard-line copper infrastructure?

I also still believe in trains too though.

An example of the turmoil inside Twitter caused by the master of the universe making greed driven idiotic decisions in a tight labor market. The people he fires and lays off will go to the competition, it is a big industry and Elon is creating a vacuum in a niche that others will quickly fill. His users will use cross posts on his own platform to send others to his competition while shitting on him as they do it! Twitter, the $44 billion dollar ego trap and money pit.

A fake tweet sparked panic at Eli Lilly and may have cost Twitter millions
The pharmaceutical giant halted ad spending after fake blue-check accounts went viral. For $8, Twitter is ‘losing out on millions of dollars in ad revenue,’ a former Eli Lilly official said.

The nine-word tweet was sent Thursday afternoon from an account using the name and logo of the pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly and Co., and it immediately attracted a giant response: “We are excited to announce insulin is free now.”

The tweet carried a blue “verified” check mark, a badge that Twitter had used for years to signal an account’s authenticity — and that Twitter’s new billionaire owner, Elon Musk, had, while declaring “power to the people!” suddenly opened to anyone, regardless of their identity, as long as they paid $8.

But the tweet was a fake — one of what became a fast-multiplying horde of impersonated businesses, political leaders, government agencies and celebrities. By the time Twitter had removed the tweet, more than six hours later, the account had inspired other fake Eli Lilly copycats and been viewed millions of times.

so maybe poor little rich boy isn't the financial genius his followers claim he is? maybe he's just another rich kid who got lucky, and then found out he was pretty good at bullshitting his way into more money, while not really knowing fuck all about fuck all?
and now, like most rich assholes, when the bullshit quits working, when he really has to put up or shut up, he refuses to do either?
maybe elon is just like trump...full of inflated numbers and bullshit?

It looks like he has one (1) management style. It works for SpaceX, half-works for Tesla and LarStink, and does not work for Twitter. He personally is taking an eleven-figure (!) hit.

We will all die as fear and chaos take over..Bill Nye has a new six part series on the death of our planet using different disaster simulators..if the disaster doesn't kill you, then what I said above will.

CME disturbs him most, along with myself..what happens when nothing works?

successful organisms adapt. it does not look like musk is very adaptable, which severely limits his chances to be successful.
if you have a niche, and fail when you step out of it, perhaps you should quit stepping out if it...many people aren't even good at one thing, he needs to quit assuming he's good at everything.

He's a cheap ass con man who wanted to pull Starlink from Ukraine one day because it was costing him too much money (which means it's costing him nothing; he's another Putin fanboi) and the very next quietly changed his mind. I wonder who helped change it for him?:D

That's not my takeaway..it's as if Dylan is saying 'you've stopped growing and expanding yourself'. What's the song? Maybe it's the context?
It’s Alright, Ma (I’m Only Bleeding)
WRITTEN BY: BOB DYLAN
Darkness at the break of noon
Shadows even the silver spoon
The handmade blade, the child’s balloon
Eclipses both the sun and moon
To understand you know too soon
There is no sense in trying

Pointed threats, they bluff with scorn
Suicide remarks are torn
From the fool’s gold mouthpiece the hollow horn
Plays wasted words, proves to warn
That he not busy being born is busy dying

Temptation’s page flies out the door
You follow, find yourself at war
Watch waterfalls of pity roar
You feel to moan but unlike before
You discover that you’d just be one more
Person crying

So don’t fear if you hear
A foreign sound to your ear
It’s alright, Ma, I’m only sighing

As some warn victory, some downfall
Private reasons great or small
Can be seen in the eyes of those that call
To make all that should be killed to crawl
While others say don’t hate nothing at all
Except hatred

Disillusioned words like bullets bark
As human gods aim for their mark
Make everything from toy guns that spark
To flesh-colored Christs that glow in the dark
It’s easy to see without looking too far
That not much is really sacred

While preachers preach of evil fates
Teachers teach that knowledge waits
Can lead to hundred-dollar plates
Goodness hides behind its gates
But even the president of the United States
Sometimes must have to stand naked

An’ though the rules of the road have been lodged
It’s only people’s games that you got to dodge
And it’s alright, Ma, I can make it

Advertising signs they con
You into thinking you’re the one
That can do what’s never been done
That can win what’s never been won
Meantime life outside goes on
All around you

You lose yourself, you reappear
You suddenly find you got nothing to fear
Alone you stand with nobody near
When a trembling distant voice, unclear
Startles your sleeping ears to hear
That somebody thinks they really found you

A question in your nerves is lit
Yet you know there is no answer fit
To satisfy, insure you not to quit
To keep it in your mind and not forget
That it is not he or she or them or it
That you belong to

Although the masters make the rules
For the wise men and the fools
I got nothing, Ma, to live up to

For them that must obey authority
That they do not respect in any degree
Who despise their jobs, their destinies
Speak jealously of them that are free
Cultivate their flowers to be
Nothing more than something they invest in

While some on principles baptized
To strict party platform ties
Social clubs in drag disguise
Outsiders they can freely criticize
Tell nothing except who to idolize
And then say God bless him

While one who sings with his tongue on fire
Gargles in the rat race choir
Bent out of shape from society’s pliers
Cares not to come up any higher
But rather get you down in the hole
That he’s in

But I mean no harm nor put fault
On anyone that lives in a vault
But it’s alright, Ma, if I can’t please him

Old lady judges watch people in pairs
Limited in sex, they dare
To push fake morals, insult and stare
While money doesn’t talk, it swears
Obscenity, who really cares
Propaganda, all is phony

While them that defend what they cannot see
With a killer’s pride, security
It blows the minds most bitterly
For them that think death’s honesty
Won’t fall upon them naturally
Life sometimes must get lonely

My eyes collide head-on with stuffed
Graveyards, false gods, I scuff
At pettiness which plays so rough
Walk upside-down inside handcuffs
Kick my legs to crash it off
Say okay, I have had enough
what else can you show me?

And if my thought-dreams could be seen
They’d probably put my head in a guillotine
But it’s alright, Ma, it’s life, and life only
