Exhausting through the wall?

Yup, its an activeair blower. Im hopeing the S&P one is quieter. My last resort is building a padded box around them. But thats a hassle.

if its attached to the wall then just snag some weather stripping and attach it around the seal with the wall. or just suspend it from the sealing with some nylon cord. but yea, the weatherstripping will only do so much.

Yeah thats true mounting is important to minimize vibrations that cause sound. Hanging the fan from the ceiling with hooks connected to rubber grommets works well. Any other sound is caused only by rushing air not the fan so you have to use a muffler to dampen the noise. :peace:

Here you go, pictures of the new setup. Suggestions on how to utilize the space would be great. Im thinking of maybe adding a ScoG later after a few more grows. Maybe a shelf for the nutes. Any ideas?

THe S&P fan is MUCH quieter. Its good

I have a carbon filter attached directly to the fan. Its blue and in the picture. Only thing im concerned about is that its too much CFM for the filter. It came with a 4 in axial fan, so the core is only 4 inches

i wouldnt go over 65 cfms through that scrubber mate, could ruin effectiveness.

friend had the same problem, he reshuffled everything and had air blow OUT of the scrubber. gave it a little more time to hang around the activated carbon.

Really? The fan that came with it was already 120 CFM. Where can I find the proper dimensions for the filter size, to cfm?

I was going to agree. 120 sounds about right to me. But I suspect you are going to want to add another filter scrubbing within the closet or something else to help control smell. Without an outside exhaust that place is going to get really smelly real quick.

Not sure either when you buy a carbon filter it will tell you the max CFM rating for effective odor control. LArger filters can handle more airflow and vice vesa.

Yeah, my 120 CFM fan that came with it wasnt enough already. Temps got to 90+. Thats why I had to switch. The 220 setting wasnt enough either, temps still got to 88.

Spicoli Im not sure what you mean. THere is an exhaust to the outside. Thats what the fan is hooked up to. And why would 2 scrubbers be better?

I got my fan off ebay, So I dunno

Nope, take a look at the first page of the thread. The room is sitting near the kitchen and living room of my condo. I drew up diagrams where I was thinking about cutting, and discussed them with new growth

That's what I thought. All I'm saying is that I doubt that carbon filter will be enough to eliminate all the odour that is being sucked through it and expelled into your living space. And it will do nothing for the unfiltered air that seeps around the door, vents, etc. My suggestion would be to set up another filter, maybe using that fan you replaced, and have it cycling the air inside the grow room. So it would be simply the carbon filter with the fan attached sucking in and exhausting within the grow room. Then your existing filter would be inhaling once-filtered air, filtering it again then expelling into your living space. I initially had my room set up like yours with one fan running everything. But now I have 3 seperate fans for the cooltube, exhaust and carbon filter. It is more hassle to set up but It will be easier to do it now than with a bunch of big plants in the way, and it looks like you are well on your way.

Just passing on some things I learned during my recently completed first grow in a room shaped much like yours (except half the height). My filter is slightly smaller than yours, but so are my plants, and I have an exhaust out the roof and my bedroom still stank. I remember you were worried about relatives noticing a new vent. Start worrying about them noticing the smell. Easiest way to get noticed.

Aloha,
Spicolli

Yeah, that sounds good, having 2 filters. Ill probably end up just making a bigger filter then. probably one with a 6 inch core, and 15 inches long. Since this filter is so small, I bet its too much power running through it.

Do you have a good picture of the setup to your room?
