Is it any good? It would be cheaper for me to drive there and buy it than it is to grow it.
I think so lol. It was for the girlfriend and she says it is. I don’t smoke much at all, gummies are my thing and I can make 150 at a time. 2 will put you on the couch for 3-4 hours lol. JSYK the place I got the cherry pie was first small store on left heading South on 49 off 401. Guy was super nice! 83EBFDBF-8ABC-4CD0-8DF5-2DD68C9408BF.jpegthere is a dispensary every 100 meters as you drive down the main drag into Deseronto, some good some bad lol. Clones are now out for $15 each and well established in 4-6” pots.

Yup they just quarantined two big farms in Southern Ontario ……. Looks like everything is going to hell :(.
I had to 1187 two chickens last week as they became ill. I see another exibiting illness today, so I'll be down to six shortly. Can only guess that migratory birds brought something that's making the chickens sick.

The garden will be different this year with more food being grown to be preserved/frozen. Mason jars nearly doubled in price since last year but will get stock up early while supplies last.

I know you meant 187, but my mind did this.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is reporting an outbreak of the “bird flu” virus. Almost 23 million birds have been killed to prevent the spread of avian influenza, as case counts grow in the U.S.

That's pretty ridiculous that people living in the country that produces the largest amount of palm oil in the world can't get it. It all comes down to greed which happens in every country.

All they have to do is cut back on using oil to cook with. It's healthier anyway.

This part of the article is spot on.

“The problem is not about cooking oil being expensive. I’ve stopped to think, do ladies just fry their food every day? To the point that they’re fighting about cooking oil?” Soekarnoputri said last month during an event about childhood stunting.

“Is there no way to boil or steam or make rujak [Indonesia fruit salad]? Those are Indonesian dishes. Why are people complicating this?

‘China didn’t hoard grains’: stockpiling to ensure domestic food security has global implications

    • As food prices rise globally and war rages between two of the world’s biggest grain suppliers, Beijing is intent on securing an adequate food supply for the most populous country

    • But some Western critics are accusing China of contributing to global inflation and regional shortages of foodstuffs
As China imports record levels of grain every year, an oft-repeated vow by President Xi Jinping is given greater impetus: “The Chinese people’s rice bowl must be firmly held in their own hands.”

Wheat prices are over $12/bushel here now - they were under $6/bushel last fall.

A neighbour contracted corn at $9.20/bushel, which is high. He grows sweet potatoes, spelt, corn and soybeans. He also owns/operates a gluten free mill. Oats have doubled in price and shipping costs from the US have gone from $2800/load to $6500/load. The consumer will naturally end up paying for these increases as corporation profits soar.

Loblaws year end profits soar!!!

“The grocery and drugstore giant said its net earnings available to common shareholders totalled $744 million or $2.20 per diluted share for the 12-week period ended Jan. 1. The result compared with a profit of $345 million or 98 cents per diluted share for the 13-week period ended Jan. 2, 2021”.
Thank god the shareholders are doing well and covering the inflation, good for them :wall:

Aside from our property, my entire retirement income is hinged on RRSPs, with diverse areas of investment and associated risks. If these companies are in my portfolio, it's difficult to view their record profits as a detriment. It's a bit of an internal conflict for me.

Yes I get it totally but I still feel for the people that are struggling right now, trying to put food on the table and not able too. My grocery bill has close to doubled but I admit I don’t chase the sales. My retirement equity is mostly properties. The goverment is trying to cool that market (which is also out of control) but the price of everything else is allowed to soar :(. I would also imagine there is a lot of price manipulation among the large chains :(.

Things are speeding up, the two top producers of palm oil have enacted export bans on it, they produce 75% of the worlds supply. Russia and Ukraine supplied much of the worlds sunflower oil. Canada,s rapeseed oil production is down from last years drought. Prices on vegetable oil are skyrocketing and many countries rely on it heavily for cooking and calories. Believe it or not this could kill 10's to 100's of millions of people from starvation. Palm oil production is also down from labor shortages because of covid.
