Not only does it sound like you are going about it in a way that you're going to end up short in the end, or 'getting it' in the end, but I don't like the idea of co=ops for this reason.
Many a friend has been lost over simple shit like money.
Just something to consider.

Do it on your own. There is no favor there. You can cut it in half and make your own smoke and that's that. Lol

I'm def gonna do it on my own. I appreciated all the advice that has been given - thanks guys :bigjoint:. With relatives like that who needs frenemies

Just start small and use the money saved to upgrade. Gives you time to learn. You will be suprised how quickly it builds up.
I went from soil/cfl to 250w security light to 600w hydro etc. I reckon it took me about 9 months to break even (get my money back for all equiment etc based on saving buying for my use). Now I've downgraded and just use my old veg stuff for personal (600 is too much for my personal and i won't sell my weed, I have history) but I've still got all the gear that I figure cost me nothing.
It's interesting to notice how the couple of people (close, my brother and my girlfriends mum, I don't tell everybody) think I'm going to become a free source of weed!. They can eff off! It's my risk and i'm taking it for myself. I've even told them i will show them and what it costs and they won't pay the money so why the hell should I and then give them my smoke?
The way I see it, we should all be growing 1 or 2 each for our own use. It's not hard, it's not expensive, we will cut out all the 'organised crime' and links to/support to dealers that also deal in heavier drugs. The police will be chasing their tails and give up wasting time and money on tiny grows.
Basically, what I'm saying is yes, share with your family. Start your grow, learn to clone, give them some clones and teach them.
Hang on, there's a saying about that related to fish. I'll just go find it.
OK. Back
Teach a man to fish and you've fed him for a lifetime ... unless, of course, he doesn't like sushi -- then you also need to teach him how to cook.
