Just wanted to show plant growth over 1 day. The pics below are of one of the plants that I abused and took almost all its larger fan leaves off yesterday.

Plant @ day 31 after being abused

Plant @ day 32 with great new growth.. (hey I think its pretty good, usually if you strip a plant of almost every single Large fan leaf and only leave really new shoot growth the plant will be stunned for a few days then begin to grow again... Oh nooo not Bubblelicious :p

Hey EpyxN, great stuff. I'm currently about to begin my first grow, which is going to be CFL the whole way and from the 50 posts i've searched, yours is exactly what i'm looking to do, with less plants at first. I'm wondering if you could be kind enough to answer a few questions I have (I have 100s, but don't want to bombard you with them all).

First off, I have 3 seeds germnating (3 seeds I found from a few bags of a G-13 strain) , 2 have sprouted roots, ready to go, the other one is a very small seed-it has barely started to sprout, but I think it'll be OK. My grow space is a closet- 3.5'Wx4.5'L x8'H.

Is this too much space for 3 plants? Should I close off part of it for a veg area? Just too mention, if I have at least one female, I plan on cloning, so I will need an area for that.

How many 26 watt CFL's should I use for these 3 plants during Veg? I hear a lot of people mixing lights (65K and 27K) do you do this?

What size pots have you been using during veg? I'll be going to Wal-mart today or tomorrow, as I still need about everything. Also, how do u have your lights? I was thinking of going with a few desk lamps or try to hang some bulbbs-do I need light on the top and the sides? One more q for now: do you use anything for a reflector? Mylar? A space blanket? Just paint?

Sorry to bombard you with these, but any help would be greatly appreciated, as I plan on following your journal, possibly to a tee. I like what I see, especially as of results of you topping all of these. Anything else that I didnt ask yet, feel free to add....thanks man.

Your lighting problem can be done one of 2 easy ways ( Sorry to answer in someone else's journal)

buy a power strip with 6-8 slots, then buy socket to outlet adpater's

u usually can only fit 3 on a 6 slot b/c the bulbs will touch, then you buy Y adapters for each socket adapter this will hold 6-8 lights no problem

another way to do it is to buy building kits for the top of a house lamp then build it and put one Y adapter in the socket then in that Y bracket you put 2 more Y brackets making a hanging light fixture that holds 4 lights ( which is MORE then enough for the first month of veg for one plant and hangs perfectly over it giving all 4 sides good light.

there are hundreds of ways to do the lighting though.

Hey thanks for checkin the thread :) I'll try and answer as many of your questions as I can with the short amount of time I currently have.

Nope your space isn't too large, you could always section it off and use it for more than one thing (veg one part and flower the other, but honestly this is something that you would have to decide yourself. Its up to you as to how much space you want for veg & flower, but that space would be perfect for a few LST'd mothers.

The amount of lights that you want to use on your 3 plants during veg really depends on how big they are, as they get larger you want to add lights to cover the area the plant is covering. As a rule of thumb you want around 3k lumen's per sq ft.

I veg using all 6700k, I do have 2 2700k lights in the veg area that I turn on for a little extra light, but that is only because I have been lazy and haven't went and bought any more 6700k lights :p

My plants are currently veg'd by 10 26w 6700k lights.
They are hanging in the area and each 2x lights is on a Y adapter (note that all of them are not in outlets, some of the Y adapters have been attached directly to the electric cord.) The lights are above my veg plants in this type of order (all above the plants)

V
VVV
V

Each V is a Y adapter with 2 bulbs. (basicaly at the end of each line below is a bulb if that gives more of an idea how they sit above the plants)

For CFL bulbs no socket is even required. CFL's can be modified & virtually made to fit anywhere or any design you have. (How to use A CFL without a light socket)

As for size I am currently using these tiny lil kid sand buckets. There probably like 1/2 gallon (not sure though). You can grow a large plant in a very small container but you will be watering it all the time as it gets sucked dry quite fast by the roots. So the larger pot the better. But for seedlings I would recommend staying with a smaller sized pot until the plant gets to the 3rd node or so. (Peat pots are best since the whole pot is biodegradable and your roots go right through it so it can be placed in a larger pot when roots start showing)

You should have some form of reflective material either mylar or white paint or the emergency blankets. (Mylar can also be boughten from hobby stores as gift wrapping squares). My veg area does not have any form of reflective material nor is it painted. But I am also flooding my plants with 10x 26w 1600w cfl's in a 5ft sq area. (With height its larger than 5ft sq, but I am just basing my lighting requirements on a base area of 5sq ft. (area is 2.5'x2.5'x4.5')

As long as you keep your lights close to your plants (within 2-3 inches from the tops of your plants) side lighting really is not an issue (if you flood your area with top lights)).

Ventilation is also very important, you don't want your area to get too hot.

Back to closet space. If you divide your closet up are you going to attempt to flower & veg in it? If so this will require you to seal your flower area really good from the rest of the closet. If even a tiny spec of light escaping from your room or veg area gets to your flower area it could destroy an entire flowering crop and turn it from juicy goodness to Juicy Seediness. (Interruption / light leak will cause your plant to Hermy up and produce male pollen sacks. This can turn a big juicy bud into a big bud that is nothing but seed). Not to mention that your plants will not flower correctly if are getting light leaks during the lights out time.

Sorry that the response is a little vague and not that detailed. I will try my best to re-respond to your questions later tonight (I need to get my daily pics up lol).

Also don't worry about it, if you have a question ask away, if I can't answer I am sure someone else can & even if I do answer someone might post a better answer than mine :) So ask away :)

Lmtd timer, so you are saying, get the bulb socket with the ac plug on the end, and plug a bunch of bulbs directly into the power strip? Not a bad idea at all, never thought of that. Cheers!

Thanks EpyxN.....I've decided to also buy some seeds from a seed bank, and these auto-flowering lowrider seeds are catching my eye. I know they won't yield much, but the crop will be ready in about 8-9 weeks. I'm thinking of getting 10 feminized ak47xlowrider #2. Have you had experience with these? also, what is your veg time and flower time you expcet for the Bubblelicious plants? I'm lloking to find something that yields nicely for an indoor plant, but with not an extremely long cycle time (for now). What do those Bubblelicious plants yield per plant? I must say, Bubblelicious is at the top of the list, BTW....urs are looking healthy and happy!!

Day 34

(No pics for Day 33, rollitup was unavail to me so I didnt even take pics)

Each plant now has around 30+ new shoots. (clones have been placed into flower but images will not be taken of these clones, these are just sexing clones for def plant sexxing. These clones are nasty lil buggers and will be replaced with the real flowering clones when plants have def been sexed)

Like the pics of the socketless CFL's-Another ? I have, Does it matter if the light is coming from the side of the CFL (like you have) or if its coming directly down from the top of the bulb? I always thought the bulb puts out more light when emitting it from the top of itself....thanks much

I haven't done autoflower yet. I have thought about it several times but since you cannot clone them and are seed reliant I have stayed away from them. (Of course autoflowers would be great if you force seeded a few buds and built a stock of autoflower seeds.) I have only ready great things about ak47/lowriders.

My veg time for the flowering clones will be non existant. As soon as roots show they will be placed into the flowering room (This will keep my plants around 1ft tall when done flowering and just be 1 main cola per plant.).

The yield for bubblicious via SOG is 400-500g per m3 i believe. How to calculate the math to get the avg yield for an area is a little outside of my thinking ability at the moment so i can't throw any eye spam stoner math out for ya :p ) But as for Personal experience with yield with BB I have no idea, this is the first time I have grown BB myself and she sways from very forgiving to a pure bitch at times lol.

Bubblelicious avg flowering time is 6-8 weeks.

Autoflowers seem great but I hate growing from seed. and you would have to plant seeds for every crop you do. Not to mention if you don't get Feminized seeds you may end up with a few autoflower males.

Ok Ok, i have to run for a bit i guess. lol ill try and answer as much as i can later. :) Have a great one

I personaly think that the sides of the bulbs give off more light than the top of the bulb (the top of the bulb has like 1/2" of CFL tubing & the side has like 8" of cfl lighting)..

But i really do not know for positive, I have seen many threads here that say both top & sides so.. If you have a tool to measure the light output we all would surely be interested :p (im sure theres a thread here that the light output has been measured but i have not seen it yet though)

If CFL's are puting out light the same way that Fluro tubes are, then the sides should be putting 12 inchs of solid light compaired to the top putting out 6 inchs of light depending on make of the bulb u have (top of my bulbs have 2 coils instead of 1 so if you have 1 coil its a ratio of 12 inchs to 4 inchs or so ) This is on the theory that CFL's are heating the gas inside of themselves the same balance as a fluro

Edit....im slower then epyxn....

i blame the wake n bake.

You probably can't see it since most of the new growth has been taken for cuttings but this bubblelicious fem appears to be sativa dominant!! YAY. I really hope that the pheno for the extreme bubblegum smell & flavor are active in this female. I believe 1 other plant is going to be sativa dominant but it's still not sexable.

The folding of the very edges of the leaves on a few plants is still ongoing. It is not from heat/water/nutes etc. It appears to be just a pheno that a few of the plants seem to have. (can't remember what strain has the folding of the leaves edges as a dominant trait possibly big bud? can't remember). The folded edges straighten and re-fold as often as a leaf does the O motion for the light.
