First CFL grow (Bubblelicious)

You probably can't see it since most of the new growth has been taken for cuttings but this bubblelicious fem appears to be sativa dominant!! YAY. I really hope that the pheno for the extreme bubblegum smell & flavor are active in this female. I believe 1 other plant is going to be sativa dominant but it's still not sexable.

The folding of the very edges of the leaves on a few plants is still ongoing. It is not from heat/water/nutes etc. It appears to be just a pheno that a few of the plants seem to have. (can't remember what strain has the folding of the leaves edges as a dominant trait possibly big bud? can't remember). The folded edges straighten and re-fold as often as a leaf does the O motion for the light.

Man this looks great...how many plants do you have here at the moment? What kind of lights and how many u got? As far as the auto-flower seeds not being able to get cloned, I agree its not beneficial in the long run ,but I need something soon, as I just lost my job....anyways, i'll be getting all feminized seeds, will probably start 9 like you did(3x3 makes it easy), how many 26 W lights would I need at first?(will prob throw in a 27K from what ive read) Also how many 26 W lights do you thing i'd need towards the end of the cycle? Sorry for all the ?'s, and I know yours arent auto, but you seemd to being great with CFL's.....its very appealing

6 6500k for 9 plants for the first 2 weeks would be ok , after that you would need to try to get 2 lights per plant till they are 6 inchs or so then 4-6 lights per plant in the long run switching 1 or 2 out for 2700k's wouldnt hurt , maybe help even who really knows its hard to tell. I personally use half and half atm

depending on how big you wnt each plant

Would this be the same for auto-flower femanized seeds? I hear theres no such thing as too much light for theese....thanks for all of the great info guys

theres never to much light for any type of plant...only to much heat...

I base this off of lumens...min lumens you want per plant is 4500 ( people say 2500, 3000, and all kinds of numbers..i aim for no less then 5000 but 4500 is decent) for a 7-12 inch tall plant..... seedling phase you can do with way less... but professional growers hit 50,000 lumens on plants no problem just realize you can get CFL's 2 inchs from your plant and for every inch away they actaully get your losing exponetial lum's

a 26w CFL 6500 is 1850 lumens or mine are
a 26w CFL 2700k is only 1500 lumens

i have a total of 17.5k lumens for my Meter Sq

you should start your own grow journal and link the thread, less spam in his journal

thats how i got started before my grow

Man I wish i could tell you how many lights you would need but there are just sooo many factors that I do not know. plant size height/width/pot size etc everything plays a role.
Just figure that for good flowering you need atleast 3000k lumen's of 2700k light per sq ft. Any 26w cfl more than 1ft away from a plant pretend like the cfl isn't even there.

When you first start if you use 1 1/2" pots having them under 6 26w cfl's works pretty good. When they got placed into the blue pot another 4 26w were added. Right now they are still under 10 26w's but they have started to become uncontrolable without the addition of more lights. (the outside veg have grown outside the optimum cfl distance for 26w so parts are beginning to stretch. Males still need to be removed.)
I started documenting everything on like day 11 from seed, from seed to the time they get put into the larger pots they were in 1 1/2" peat pots under 6 26w 5300k cfl's.

Heres a small time lapse of how good the 6x 26w ontop of 1 1/2" peat pots works :) (lights were kept always within 1-2" of the plants.) But i like moms that are very compact.

Day 11

Day 13 (topped some of them already)

Day 15

Day 19 (Clones had already been taken, but the rockwool was contaminated so it caused most to die and the rest took forever to root).

I was going to get feminized seeds but I decided to go with non fem'd in hopes of more of a genetic diversity amongst the seeds giving me more options when it comes to giving me a mother plant (one of my fems is the sativa dominant version, hopefully the pheno for the real bubble gummy flavor & smell is active.)

One more question for now(I swear)...I bought some GE 26 Watt CFL. The say "daylight 6500K" on the package, but it says 1600 lumens for light output. I also have some 26 watt that do not sya daylight or 65K, but for the lumens output it is 1850K? What do i use? Thanks for taking time to answer alll of these ?'s, ive gained much knowledge from ya's....thanks again

On a quick side note

Anything I say should be taken with a grain of salt, the same goes for what everyone else here on the site says. Everyone grows different what works for me might totally fail for you / vice versa. Trial and error is how you will end up learning. The only real good info you should walk away from any cfl thread with is.

5300k-6700k for veg
2700k for flower

3k+++ lumen's per sq ft of visible plant area (cfl's don't penetrate the canopy worth crap)

the closer your lights are to the plant the denser the plants growth is.
the farther away your lights are the more stretched the growth is.

ya those GE are fine, there good bulbs.

do you know what brand model # etc the 1850ks are? they have bulbs that are 3500k-4500k and they dont do anything for a plant.

And don't worry about asking questions, if you have them ask away. By far i am no expert at all. MJ has always seemed to wan't to perform for me is all. lol.

Except for those damn clones. stupid freeking rockwool. clones are all going into a bed of dirt that will be dried and recycled after every 2 or so cycles of clones.

Yeah, it does seems everyone has different way..good point. Not exactly sure, but I believe the model # is 72877. Also, these bulbs are shorter...and also I must be dumb or really stoned off this vape..they are 1,650 K, not 1850K, my bad....so the 1600 lumens per bulb are fine?

Thanks

ya the 1600's are fine. (its what i use) I couldn't find that peticular bulbs color temp but pretty much every bulb i found from GE energy smart were 2700k. just plug it in next to your other bulbs, if its yellow its 2700k most likely.

Day 35,

Just a few quick shots.

In the photo below you can see the begining of nute burn on some of the leaf tips. This is from when I raised the nute % over 500% they seem to stay happy with 2-4 full dropper fulls of shultz 10-15-10, but 4.5+ is a little too much for them to handle. Still dialing in there max intake.

Patience is a virtue :) They will never be flowered.(below plants will be flowered once rooted) Once i kill the males and then find the best female there will be only 1. lol overgrowth & stretching is fine, when males are removed they will be trained anyways.

(I still have some in rockwool cubes, these plants seem to be still doing ok even though the rockwool seems to have been contaminated with who knows what :/ )

Ya red is the positive & black is the negative/ground wire. But when you connect them to a power cord (normal outlet cord) it doesn't matter if you connect the positive to positive or not. Its always good practice to wire things correctly but for these lights (and most bulbs) as long as you got a positive & negative connected to either wire your good.

The new cheap soil that I purchased a few days ago appears to have mites. The soil has only been used this far to put 10 clones into flower for sexing.

The soil is currently being cooked @ 350o and should be done & cooled & dehydrated by 12am when new clones will be transfered into the flowering area.

Just a normal un-grounded cord, cell phone puts out a max of 12v and you want normal cord 120v.

Just be very sure that you have no positive & negative touching & all wires are sealed with either wiring caps (the kind that twist onto the wires ends) or electrical wire. 120v can kick your ass pretty good.
