Wow, I ordered seeds from Attitude on 5/28 and they are already here in Midwest, U.S.A.......another issue I have. I went to get more soil from the bags of miracle grow...and there is mold on top!! The white cotton looking mold, WTF?
BTW, its a 3.5'x4.5'x8' closet im growing in-the only way I can get in fresh air at the moment is by opening the door-and maybe i need an exhaust system of some kind? Thanks
Hmm never had mold growing in my bag of fert before so I can't give any advice to that, there is a plant problem section
HERE that could help you out with that issue.
Depending on the temp/humidity you may never need an exhaust system. You can actually grow in an area that the temp is too high, but your yields will suffer tremendously.
I personally would take that MG soil you have and take it outside and put it around your favorite bush. Probably 99.9% of any post you see here that the person has used MG soil has ended up with problems of some sort.
I used to germinate seeds in a paper towel, but no longer do this for the simple fact that probably 50% of all MJ germed with the paper towel method end up stunned when you put them into dirt. You can't see them with a naked eye but that root in the paper towel has tons of tiny minuscule root hairs that have attached to the paper towel & are destroyed when you remove it from the paper towel. (this can stun & or kill your plant. Also contamination from body oils if you touch the root etc can kill it). So if you continue the paper towel method be careful.
I just poke the seed into a peat pellet (or 1/2" jiffy pot with WET soil in it) then toss it into a Humidity dome and let nature do its work. (put the seed no more than its own thickness below the soil). never waited more than 5 days or so for seedlings to crack surface if the seed was fresh. Putting them in the humidity dome keeps the temp high & humid & your seeds soil nice and moist until they are rooted. (Ok i did wait 10 or so days for 1 of my bubblelicious to come through the surface but it never did. But after I called it a bad seed I removed the peat pellet and low & behold I had a almost dead plant that could not make its way to the surface. I had accidently placed the peat pellet upside down in the Humidity dome so when it cracked it was trying to make its way through 1"+ of peat moss. Instead of trying to get it up & out i just called it a Fuck'up and tossed the peat pellet in the trash lol.
So what kind of genetics did you buy? you buy norm or you get autoflowers?
If you have the $$ and are considering growing your own Medicine long term I would go invest in a 400 HPS. I'm definitaly not trying to sway you away from CFL since there are some amazing results using them, but HPS is sooooo much easier to use, theres no constant adjustment of your lights etc.
After this grow I will most likely be turning back on the HPS myself. lol.
CFL is great for micro grows or stealth grows but if you do not have to micro grow or be stealthy I would def go HPS
