from CFLs to 4000w of HIDs lol... you gona look like u always on holiday and you're gona have sore hands for sure when u cut those babies down. how many plants u thinking of doing with that plan?
number of plants depends on number of patients I'm growing for. Currently it would be for 6 patients - 36 plants in an 8x8 room. Aiming for 1.5 month veg 2.5 month flower hoping to yield 3 oz a plant.

how long did it take to show sex? i've been flowering for about 8-9 days now and still haven't seen anything.
give it a couple weeks like lazy said.

Thanks!

you should start to see signs of sex, within two weeks....if not, just be patient,it will come..some take longer than others..
no need to panic
right on

Wow 4000 watts in an 8x8? That thing is going to be an oven unless you have 4 cooltube's venting outside.

Haha, Im sure tanker has done his homework on this one. No one in their right mind would consider using that kind of wattage without taking into consideration what an adequate amount of ventilation will require both physically & financially. You must have a decent amount left over to dive right into this. My only advice: Start a new thead, HAHA!

Cant wait to see it get off the ground, that is if you will be documenting it, totally understand if not. Is this all the house will be used for or will it be lived in also?

Oh yeah, you should check out the GENIUS engineering my buddy and I did to the fridge this weekend, it was the most fun Ive had in a LONG time, solved my heat issues and cost about $20!!

Peace

Think I actually need cooltubes? Was going to go with 8" vented euroreflectors and 500 CFM fans attached to each light with ducting venting out the window and CO2 supplementation.

Checked out your grow last night but was too tired to comment. Great job with rigging the lights and the aluminum reflector. Why did you paint the inside white though? Isn't the aluminum more reflective? Plants look like they are doing great. props.

Solid CFL grow man, makes me really excited about how mine will turn out.

Do you have any more pics of that godzilla cola?
Godzilla cola? Not sure which one you're referring to.

Here are some picks or the last two plants being cut - most all pics are of the short bushy plant i've nicknamed 'the pink lady'. Purple leaves and pink pistils. She looks delicious. :-P

whatd ya do to the fridge..just curious..i got a extra one laying around..lol
We basically cut a hole in the partition between the fridge and freezer and installed a homemade window with my HID bulbs up in the freezer section. It shields out almost all of the heat, the window is made from a couple clearance picture frames from a hobby store. We used the frame from one and the 9x12" glass from both to make a double paned window that traps the heat VEEERY well. All day long with the HIDs and CFLs max temp is like 79-80F.

The possibilities are endless dude. What do you want to do with it? Sounds pretty low watt so maybe a rubbermaid grow? Or just set-up a closet? I might try and rig up a DIY cool tube and install in a gresser.

its a 175 watt lamp and a metal halide light
I've never grown with an HID but I'de prolly rig up a do it yourself cooltube in order to get the light nice and close to my plants. It still a smallish light so I'de prolly focus on one or two plants and scrog them. If not a scrog then a sog with lollipoped plants kept real short and bunched together in small containers - maybe you could fit 6 under the light as long as you provided side CFL lighting? I'de highly suggest NOT getting water on the bulb. I have personally expirienced bulbs blowing up when splashed with water. This isn't saying all bulbs pop when splashed but differential heating of glass is not good and those bulbs get hot! If you want to put water on it get the water boiling first and then you might be ok lol. (this is a joke, don't put lights in boiling water either)

the problem with putting it close is that my first few experiments i had to raise it alot not oftem i mean about 8 inches from the top of two foot plant (i grew as fast as it could toward the light)

what is wrong with that? Rig up a chain and a couple hooks and its easy to move the lights. your plants will appreciate the extra effort.

you know about how long i should wait before i can prune?
Check this link

As the link says, you can start "topping" your plant as soon as there are 3 sets of leaves, but no sooner. Waiting till a little later is advisable if the plant is not looking 100% healthy.

If you weren't talking about topping, but just pruning in general, the answer is NEVER. Pruning is removing unwanted foliage plain & simple. The only reason you would not want your leaves is if they're dead, or if you want to split the plant into a Y shape to give you 2 main colas instead of one.
