first grow attempt/room

- My First Attempt At Growing -

From - Seeds (Good Kush Seeds Actually)
Room - Closet Aprx. 4ft wide by 12ft long.
Lights - Starting With 2 4ft Strips Of Flaurescent Light. (40watt bulbs 2per strip) (160watts)
Soil - Miracle Grow Potting Soil
Ventilation - Cheap Dual Fan With Thermostat In/Out
Day - 4 - I Need as much Help As I Can Get. these are really good seeds and i dont want to waste them.
I Didnt pay for them but i came across some bangin kush that had a few seeds.
I Also Have 6 More Of The Same Seeds Germinating So They Will Be Planted Also.

you will need way more lights. check out www.htgsupply.com for a high pressure sodium light. you can get one relatively cheap and it will help alot. Your light will work for the first few weeks but a hps will make things go much quicker and you will yeild much more buds.

im trying not to spend more then 80 dollars on the lights
i mean i can go 100 but thats it

If you want to see good results. I dont want you to get the 150 and regret it.. you can hold out a few weeks with the tubes but a 400 watt hps will give you way way way way way way way way better results. I feel its my dute to advise you to drop the extra 40-60 bucks. it will totally pay for its self
 
Your everyday fluorescent bulbs won't work well at all like docgreen said.

How big is the area exactly?
1 light will be better. But I still think it won't be enough to be honest...
 
im growing in a 4 foot by 4 foot area now but the whole area in itself is about 12ft by 4 feet
 
honestly if its going to be 100% worth it im looking for 2 better lights and ill spend around 140-160 if its really worth it but if the one for 120 will grow my 4-5 plants till the end thsat is what ii will buy. ps these luights will grown my pants for atleast a week or 2 correct? and when i buy new lights i can still use the old ones plus the new ones


edit: by the way thank you so much for the quick postts. now i can sleep easy on the east coast.

the 400 watter will work thru the whole grow yeah. you can still use the tubes as well. and the tubes will be fine for another week or two just keep them close and they might stretch out alot so you might want to re pot them deeper if they end up really tall and scrawny. save the rest of your money on a fan and general supplies for real

You will need circulation for sure.
Invest in some nutrients for your plants.
I thought the grow area would be bigger, one light will be fine.

Try to keep them all at the same height though since you will have only 1 light.
There are a few threads around that will tell you different ways to help keep the plants at even heights.
 
You can use fluorescent lights for vegging.Warm white and cool white.I have 3 4 foot fluroscent fixture with 1 warm white and one cool white on each fixture.They work great check out my veg room.....now for flowering yeah i definitely gotta go with HID.400 or 600hps are great but cost a little money so if you can't afford an hps yet start fluorescent and save some money and get you a hps, but for vegging fluorescents are great check m grow out sometime https://www.rollitup.org/general-marijuana-growing/153471-first-time-gowing-grow-tent.html

some nutes.. you wont need them for a while yet and be really careful how much you use i recommend FoxFarm Soluble 3 Pack, its 70 bucks tho.. you can the nutes one by one tho for like 25.

flat white paint works about as well

your soil is vital... you can use miracle grow but may encounter some problems.. Try buying good quality potting soil froma local store because shipping is a bitch but if it is an option I'd recommend this

well there is a fan hooked up with a thermostat build in to keep the room a certain temp. nothing high tech but i keep the room around 77-80 degrees its been pretty accurate. as for soil ive heard mixed reviews but im using the miracle grow potting soil. i have seeds germinating that im going to grow in organic soil but i wanted to try miracle grow first.

and i will be transferring to organic soil in about...idk what would you guys say 2 weeks?
 
Miracle grow soil has time release nutrients........I think right???? Many people tend to have problems with nute burn with miracle grow overfeeding the plant that already has nutrients being released periodically......I advice getting some regular soil with nothing in it mix some perlite and vermiculite to supply oxegen for the roots and drainage is great......thats just my advice................. oh yeah its important to have something to check temps. and humidity really important
 
Ohh yeah switching plants to different type of soils will stress them out extra...first the shock of transplanting then having to get used to the new soil will throw them off a little....I mean they'll live but growth is stunted a bit in the process.....
 
honestly im just going to take my time. take all the advice that i can. and just try to do it right. im going to leave it in the MG soil but be very careful. and i herd not to overwater with the MG soil. im going to try that temp/humidity gauge too. if you guys hav any tips/advice please post it i want some beauties, and i plan/hope to do many clones / plants
 
you can got a min/max temp/hum. gauge at walmart for under 10, careful with your MG soil, i'd shake it off roots when transplanting
