First grow DWC - Advice PLS!!

Howdy...

Been reading up as much as I can before I started my grow. Now that things are finally starting to come together.

So first and foremost thank to the RIU forum for all of the knowledge!

Here is what I have going down so far.

10 GAL tub
2 - 30 Gal air pumps, each running 1 - 5 inch round airstone.

Lighting wise I got 6 - 42 watt CFL's

Just decided to use some bagseed for my first try to kinda get a feel for the whole process down.

Germed the seeds last week for about 3 days in PH soaked rockwool,

After 3 days I sent the straight over to the bubbler.

Filled the tub up with about 6 GAL of water with no nutes. That brought the water level to about 1/2 inch from the bottom of the net pots. Over the past two days i have topped off the bubbler with 1/2 strength nutrient solution. So far I have added approx 1 gal of this nutrient solution. about 1/2 gal a day.

Also anyone have experience with Technaflora nutes??? The LHS really pushed that one, but to be honest it kinda smells like funk even at the small amount that is currently in the res!

Take a look and let me know what you think.

They are the daylight bulbs. I plan on picking up a HPS 400w setup in a few weeks so I can have it ready for flowering when the time comes!

awesome!! Just making sure, I made the mistake of not having daylight cfls and paid the price (extra weeks in veg).

Nice juicy 400hps. This will be a nice grow I'm sure of it.

Well update # 2 is a little concerning for the little ones..

Looks like plant #2 is a little streched, do ya'll think it has streched it's self out because my lights are to far? they are about 3 inches from the plants now.
When the fan is blowing # 2 is flopping in the wind a little.

what do you fellas think, is she (hopefully a she!!) streched or is it looking normal?

First pic is plant 1 (shorty) second is plant 2.

OK well it has been a good week since I have updated.... well here she goes.

Entering week 2 in the DWC and I am finally seeing results.

last week was just topping off the res with water that I guess the hydrotron pellets absorbed when i put them in the dwc. I topped the res off with 1/2 strength nute solution. Added about 1 gal total.

Plants are starting to drop roots from the net pots down to the water. Since Sunday (when I changed the water) one of the plants has grown a good inch, so I have good hopes for this one.

I filed the res up with 1/2 strength nute solution this time.

Will let ya'll know how she looks throughout the week.

Here are some recent pics to pass the time!!

coming nicely, now that the roots are starting to come out and hit the water you should see some explosions like non other!!! keep it up...

Hey! Your only a week ahead of me which means I can look at your pictures and aspire to where I want mine to be at in the next couple of days! Awesome grow! :bigjoint:

Only 2 days since last update and the little ones are really showing signs of progress.

Last night I made a stop by the store and picked up a new air pump and added two more airstones! Now I have 1x 125 GAL (sorry does not tell me the psi) air pump running two 5 inch round airstones, and 2x 30 GAL pumps each one running a 12 in long bubblewand. The round airstones sit directly underneath each net pot, and the bubblewands run down the sides of the tank.

Thought the roots could hang out in the new jacuzzi i bought for them:bigjoint:

Anyway plant #1 took a dip last night while i was taking the top off. The hole that I cut for my net pots were just a hair to big and if you squeeze the pot just right it will slip through. Well... I squeezed it just right and i'll be damned if the pot did not drop in the res! I got the plant out pretty quick and then managed to fish out all of the hydroton pellets from the res.

It looks like it might have even gave plant# 1 a little needed boost. it has always been a little slower/shorter than P2. Hopefully P1 will get a little needed boost??

P1 lives on the left
P2 lives on the right

looks good. Word of advice to save yourself some serious self hating later. I noticed your air lines didnt have check valves. you should get some or put the pumps higher than the water level, cause if god forbid your pumps lose power the water will back up into them and wreck them for good. Check valves cost .68 cents a pop at walmart or any pet store, or just put your pumps on top of the reservoir.

iparty thanks. I will be heading to wallyword tomorrow to pick up check valves.

As for the names. I will have to hit a a good bowl and get them some names..Maybe by tomorrowbongsmilie

latest update on the little'ens

Dropped the nutes based on some advise gained RIU.
since I dont have a PPM meter I am only mixing at the levels recomended on the feeding schedule that came with my nutes.
This week I have mixed the water in the res to 1/4 strength, lowering it from about 1/2 strength.

The little ladies are still showing good signs of growth. Hopefully they will keep up throughout the grow. I was just wondering though. I am by far no expert and just growing some random bagseed but it looks as if I have ended up with one sativa breed and one indica. I could be way wrong, tell me what ya'll think??

they seem both indica and with bagseed and no genetic information available not much else can truly be said besides great work keep it up ....

Hey man just read thru nice setup. Your doing a great job. I have those same air stones 5 inch round air stones. I ended up snapping the round black piece off the sides and the hole in the middle. I was getting a slime build up in my buckets and the slime was staying under the plastic so I couldn't clean all of it resulting in more slime. So now I got it all hopefully that took care of my slime problem. You could lower your cfl's a little more if your worried about stretching and the closer the bushier the plant. A small fan would do them great it helps the plants grow strong stems to hold the buds. How long you gonna Veg for? Kool Grow i will stick around for this one. I kinda like bagseed grows you never know what some TLC can produce.

:blsmoke:nice plants. i kept my cfls no more than 2" it tuned them into thick bushs:weed: just keep a nice breeze between the canopy and the lights. you have a nice little set up. good luck, :bigjoint:
