After measuring they're closer to two inches... They're starting to grow pretty fast.

And edit for some pics (Day 17) of this. Also, would anyone know why my leaves are twisting like they are (first two pics) in my big one, or why i have some random notches on my biggest leaves of the smaller one (last pic)?

+ rep for shear determination.....& ingenious usage of ghetto grow technology....
lol that about sums it up. worst comes to worst comes to worst, i have some efficient bulbs i can replace all of the rest around the house with and a few extra fans for when it gets real hot again :P

epic setup, ive seen a few rubbermaid grows. im not too fond of it as it gives a pretty limited amount of space for the plant to grow. personally i like to veg longer but the use of these toats is clever.
plus rep for your light setup

I like what you are doing, You are very creative. If I were you Id get a hold of Seemore's book about CFL's, It helped me stay on track. But the most important thing(s) will solve most of your problems: check the ph of your soil and water, only water when the soil is bone dry, keep your lights close, and switch to 12/12 early, like as soon as possible, if you are in a small grow space. But I wouldn't worry about the twisting, mine did the same stuff when they were young.

hehe one step ahead of you. Read up to day 25 last night of it ;). And yes, I have a real busy week ahead of me with school/work but I plan on completing my flowering chamber (need to set up vent/light proofing for it) then I will probably immediately after switch to flower. Measured my big boy this morning, almost 6 inches in diameter but still about an inch tall. Next biggest is a lil under 5 in diameter, 2 inch high. I got a lil bit more space to grow :)

Thanks for the advice, always appreciated.

So i've been looking at some ventilation options and I think i might have stumbled upon something easy, effective, and in my price range. Has anyone here ever heard of/used a wall to wall fan? They're made to circulate air from room to room but i think it will work perfectly as an exhaust fan. It's 200 cfm on high and 160 cfm on low and just around $50 with shipping which seems like a better idea than spending quite a bit more on an inline fan or ghetto rigging some pc fans (it's already wired with a grounded cable).
Here's a link to check it out, lmk what you think. http://www.comfortgurus.com/product_info.php/products_id/3698

Day 18 Update: :weed::weed:First 5-leaf sets appear:weed::weed:

Gave the babies a lil water, the big one was looking real thirsty. The others were looking pretty perky but i wanted to stick with the same cycle so i gave them some, just not quite as much.

Did a lil experimenting today with both lights and exhaust. I tried to make a lil lightproof exhaust chamber to go over the exhaust and it worked at keeping the light out/in but the temp immediately shot up 5-6 degrees so i took it off. I bought some dryer vent hoods that i might be able to modify to work with some fans i also modified today... I took off the wire guard and that way the fan is now level with the container wall. It looks a lil sketchy but the blades do nothing when touched (ive accidentally hit them about 10 times already, just makes you jump. doesnt hurt at all). Im hoping this minor adjustment will help with the extra bulb i added today. I did this by installing one more Y socket. This now brings my total wattage up to 210. I think i should be good for awhile, just might purchase a few 30w 2700k to replace the 6500k when i go into flowering (this will also boost the wattage by about 30 ^_^). Thinking about moving into flowering in about 2 weeks, wanna give the plants a few more days then try and fimm and train them.

As always, heres some pics. In the final pic the yellow circles represent where the clip on light is positioned.

Woke up this morning and the cab was up to 90f. If this new fan doesn't help I might have to scrap the rubbermaid design :(

I have found that you need something cooling the air around the container, or else it will just continue to circulate the hot air, making it hotter and hotter.

Hope this helps.

So do you have an actual ac unit down there or just that fan? And ya, it's always the hottest when i wake up because i close the door a bit more so i can sleep. I think it was because i worked on a new intake and that caused some blockage so i removed one of the dryer vent hoods i was using and it dropped down to 84 in a few hours. I'm just really starting to get annoyed and think id rather run a cabinet/armoire setup in my room that way air flow will never be an issue (since the cab would be way stealthier i can leave it standing in my room as if it was a clothes dresser).

Day 20 Update:
The big momma is continuing to grow like a bush, ive notice still no vertical growth but it just keeps getting bushier... I think im gonna leave this one alone and try and just get one big cola from it instead of fim'ing/lst'ing like im gonna try with the others.
And on that note, it has now been 24 hours since my first fim attempt on the middle plant. It appears that i'll have 4 tops (2 from the original bud site and 2 from the sides), i could be wrong but i took pics for clarification. it's still early, i'll know for sure in a day or two.

Pics: first two are of the bush, last three are of the fim'ed plant (immediately after- i actually snipped a tiny bit more off after taking the pic-, and last two are from today, 24 hours post cut)
