First grow, pretty tight space, how much veg/training left?

Hey guys, first post here for me, also first (mildly successful) grow as well, i've already got a couple of failures under my belt and this is the farthest i ever got.

I've built a really small setup for personal consumption, since i use very little ganja, mainly just to have some fun while growing my own fire, try different training techniques and whatnot. Will definitely upgrade to a full sized tent after this run or the next one, pick a more powerful light and keep this cab as bonsai mother keeping, seedling germination, vegging or fast clone flowering for some quick buds

How much do you think i should keep vegging this bagseed (very good one imho...) before switching to flowering?

This down here is 35 days from sprout.

As you should be able to see i:
- topped it at 5-6th node (a bit too late probably...)
- bent the main stem over to the right
- tucked all the big fan leaves and dominating growths
- tried to arrange all growths in a somewhat star-resembling pattern, with gardening elastic wire and LST training tools (the orange plastic bendy thingies).




It seems i now got a lot of bud sites, but i'm unsure how much should i still keep this gal going.
I feel like i should still keep training horizontally for a bit right?

It's starting to become a little bit awkward, since i don't have far enough points to attach the wire and bend the stems and growths towards to, to ultimately make them run beyond the fabric pot where i want them.

The space is 70cm x 70cm x 35cm total... the plant is now 25-30cm distant from the light, a Spider Farmer SF1000.
The light is dimmed to 60-70% cause all plants i put under it can't handle its full power and just wilt out and die.

Reading here and there, the space being like about 2sqft total, 70W of power should be enough for my footprint, for like 1 or max 2 small plants. If you could weigh in on this too i would appreciate it.

She'll double if not triple in size before she's done flower so you might be getting close to having to flip. Can you rig up some trellis netting to support the buds and keep them all at the same height? I try for 24 to 36 hours of dark when I flip, it sends a real clear signal to the plant.

No failures with this one; LOTS of great growers on this site to help you.

Raise light to 35-38cm, dial it up full power, flip now. Very nice for 35 days.

@MustGro ye i can definitely rig up a trellis with some wood and gardening wire, the only problem i see is the circulation fan which isn't really that adjustable height-wise and will be a pain in the ass to work around. Thanks for the ideas, positive vibes and motivation though, we can do it!

She kept growing like a beast after topping and training in just about 10 days, she's definitely loving that Biogrow isn't she?

Unfortunately, the light is fixed in place like 3-4cm distant from the roof of the cabinet with bolts and nuts, so there won't be any moving it around...
Grow space is *very* limited in height and i agree with you i *should* keep the plants farther from the light, but it is what it is.

I will try to find a larger cabinet and put this equipment in it for future runs, and also i will setup a "main" grow space in a proper tent soon as well (Homebox Ambient 120 w/ 400W LED) to have a bit more leg room and options.

You might as well just continue to veg it until you can get in a taller space.

Scrog it.

You don’t have much vertical space to work with. You will need to flip to flower soon and continue LST’ing until the branches are too rigid to do so. I would use a scrog net and fill out all of your grow space. It will also help support your branches during mid to late flower when the buds weigh them down. Flip soon, install scrog and everyday or 2 check growth. Tuck taller branches over more and more as they get longer. You will need to lollipop the bottom to avoid mold cause she’s gonna be squat and bushy. Keep one circulating fan below canopy and one above your canopy . Keep your canopy flat and level and you will produce the most consistent bud throughout and also maximize your yield.

That's not possible unfortunately, the only available room to put the tent into is a very damp underground basement. Like, it's always 18-24 °C and 85+ RH% down there. I already got the industrial dehumidifier but i need to properly fix electrical, plumbing and ventilation. At the very least a few months work.

Hopefully you've been doing research on microgrowing. The longer you wait to flip, the more trouble you are going to have in your current state.

Should be a week more of vegging, or something like that, and then i'll flip as recommended.
Honestly, i did no research other than looking here and there what some people are doing, how, why, etc.

Today i setup the scrog net and little 12v pc fan under the canopy.

Here it is now:



P.S: i even setup a webcam i had lying around for timelapses, ip-camera and whatnot, soon i'll be posting some fresh content

I never grew anything, it's now 3 and a half months that i've started to spend some free time on this "hobby": i'm still very much a beginner, but i think i've been making some progress. Maybe i explained myself poorly: this cabinet is in my bedroom, not in the basement. The "main" tent will be in the basement, but that will need some work to do and i don't have the time right now. It's coming though, for sure

@Entusia can you support the trellis with something? It'd be better if it was hanging or on supports instead of sitting on the branches. Nice job making a trellis though so I'm sure you'll be able to swing it.

That is one clean and tidy growAnd is a big inspiration to wot I actually won’t to achieve with a stealth box I’m about to start building.
LST ,topping,fimming ,main lining is a big part of micro grows
Personally I would make the squares in your trellis smaller which increases the number of squares to train nodes to grow through and become tops to fill out and maximise your final canopy.
But absolutely brilliant job And look forward to see how your grow goes

The trellis isn't actually sitting on the branches, but on all the USB/4-pin/gardening cables that are inbetween the frame and the cabinet.

I pushed it down as far as i could go so it maybe looks like it's the branches keeping it up, but somehow i did an unexpectedly accurate job size-wise with the frame (i'm not a crafty type at all...) and it basically just pushes on the cabinet walls and sustains itself.

@JPW B.P.C 420 thanks fam, yours are very kind words and they really mean a lot to me.
About the net spacing: reading about it here and there told me 3.5" is a size many people like, so i just went with it. Looking forward to verify if it's the correct spacing for me, or if a tighter grid would benefit me in larger yields and ease of training.

It seems she gets quite droopy somewhat regularly (and then i give her water...)
Drinks like 1.5L every 2 days now.
Is it good or should i water less/more?

Sorry if i ask but i dealed with overwatering and gnats in the past with my first two failed auto grows, don't want to repeat those mistakes.

Did some defoliation and decided to flip, let's see the stretch now... no idea what's coming for me

She looks good. I try not to let them get dry enough to droop, why sent the plant the message that there's little water where it's growing.

That's wise, i'll try to not let her get dry enough to droop then.

Gotta say, I probably overdid my drainage and aeration this time, there's really lots of inert medium and the fabric pot really dries it all up fast.
That's for sure the biggest difference i see between this and previous failed grows, which had poor drainage and aeration and suffered from overwatering. All in all i've seen it drive vitality and growth speed way up, so even if outdone it must be a step in the right direction.

Just reading through your thread and it looks like you're making all the right moves. That trellis net will be your best friend considering the height of your space. Nice work

If you're letting your soil get dry to the point of droop, then you're prolly getting hydrophobic spots and if in living soil, you're killing off biology.
