Nice brother! You're gonna want those CFLs within 2" of your plants at ALL TIMES! So do what you gotta do to make that happen!
That's how you keep tight nodes on your plants bro. CFL's lack penetration power of any relevance any further than a foot, and they drop off in power beyong 4" from the plants!
I was a CFL junkie for a bit bro. Gotta keep em CLOSE!

alright thanks, yeah I have another one of those lamps I am going to hook it up tomorrow to get some more light.
sorry for being such a n00b but how long does it usually take before you can distinguish gender? Also, not for this grow but the next one I am going to do I am getting a 600w HPS and using my DWC system I made how tall (in inches) do plants typically get I am going to measure it every day and keep a record of everything

It's all good bro. I'm still on my first grow too. A couple harvests into it haha but still my first opo.
But all the question you're asking bro, they depend on other things..
The sex can show very early, or you might have to force it to show if you don't wanna wait.
If you wanna force it to show, just flip your lights to 12/12 and the sex should show within a couple weeks.
Other wide just veg it out and you'll see balls or pistils eventually.
And height varies too. It you just let the plant grow it could be 15ft tall eventually.
Look into LST(low stress training).
Indoor you have to work with you plants to keep the in line. Look thru my thread. Everything I know I share on it bro

Nicee bro! The more light you can get sooner, the better! and don't be afraid of burning you're leaves with the CFLs bro.
You'd rather have a few burnt leaves here and there, and a nice compact plant, vs a stretchy one.
With the CFLs you should be having to move the up everyday. Sometimes more than once a day when you flip to flower!

alright so I actually just bought a 400w MH and HPS light, my friend who grows medicinal weed in Michigan told me to get some Promix soilless mix and silica blast I just picked that up from my local hydro store today and I really want to know what strain I am growing and since these are just 5 random strains from Nirvana I germinated some Northern Light seeds and am about to grow this strain, I am giving my plants I have right now to my brother in law. They are actually getting pretty big and prolly only have a month left but I want to grow these NL seeds
