First grow since i got old!! Who wants to help?

I used to have a super success rate with cloning in soil & then something went south - they were dropping like flies from damping off.
I know how to fix it, but just couldn't. Due to time constraints I got one of these.

I just take the cuts, plug it in & have monster roots in 2 weeks or so.

I ain't lookin back.
IMG_20150322_232852_421.jpg How does that ones water percolation compare to this. DO I need more, less, or different? This one has two air wands about 10 inches long.

Thanks @GreatwhiteNorth for the link. This gives me another idea for mine. I have a small pump and I believe I can fab the manifolds with our extra fish tank parts. I like the idea of venturi for initiating the fresh oxygen without it having to travel through the actual pump. I cant see it producing less heat than my wands as I had to add a heater to maintain 78deg. and the water pump is submerged. We shall see.

@Mohican Thanks also, Actually the Oxy Cloner is more of a bubbler. No mist nozzles. I built nine with parts around the house and had nothing of that sort. I am a firm believer in both methods as viable and now have a way of marrying the two. I have some old wax nozzles that rely on flow to draw in the wax for atomization. In my minds eye I can see some experimenting in my near future.

Is there a restriction on new users or something. I can't like people , can't like posts, can't post pics , can't start a journal! All I am allowed to do is view and reply to threads. This is annoying , Cervantes' thread site doesn't do that.
Thanks again grow pops and cannabisdreams.
@sk8er_kbw Welcome to RIU.
I believe their is a certain number of post one must make before they can post pictures.
Clones, The method I have had the most success with is exactly the same as @cannabisdreams has explained. Only difference is she states it so even I can understand it. Haha. I Cut the stem just above the node I want the plant to be topped at, at a 45 deg angle then quickly dip in RO water then in rooting hormone, (cheap powder stuff from Lowes) then place about 1 inch deep in pre-moistened seed starter soil That has about a 3/4 inch deep hole prepared with a alchohol swabbed sharpened pencil up to paint line, and lightly compress around the stem making sure no air holes. I leave as much of the hormone on it as possible but don't add it to the hole. Then give it about 15 or 20 drops of water. Place in a humidity dome,(with a couple holes at the bottom edge for circulation) Mist once on clone and once on inner lid. Leave them alone. Florescent light only and not too close. Once a day I will lift the lid and blow across the tops.(ups the CO2 a little and forces a small exchange of air) I Never pull on the plant to check for roots. Ussually in 10 to 14 days I will be seeing signs of growth and vitality telling me she is feeding. at that point I pull the dome and give a slight mist in celebration. I watch them close for signs of .....anything really for a day or so incase they needed the extra humidity. Moist but not soaked, Like she said you want them roots reaching and searching for the water. That's the balance, getting enough moisture in to sustain life while spending the plants energy forming roots.
Mixed success for me in that department. View attachment 3422939 Here is my latest experiment. DIY bubble cloner. Three have been potted up to 1 gallon and placed outside. One is a leaf... Literally one leaf left. and is alone in a 2'x4' veg cabinet t the moment.

P.S. The picture of the plant is the PK in my cab. One of the surviving clones was taken from that plant that day. PK-1, PK-2, and WD-3 made it. SD-2 is the leaf.
thank you, all this advice is seriously extremely helpful. I feel confident moving forward because of everyone's help.
I ordered a Carson MicroBrite on Sunday and it has been sent out for delivery to my home today. So excited to see where my oldest girl is at. I can see one or two Amber tips on trichomes mostly clear to some milky white with a 6x bifocal. I wish I could take a picture because the middle and one side of the plant is nearly mature but one nose shot right up the side approximately 9 inches long and will be a beautiful bud all the way up. I'm worried how ever it will ruin when I harvest. If needed , can I harvest the ones on the center and left that are ready? I highly doubt that the bud that shot up will catch up. I'm aiming for mostly milky white trichomes with a small mix of Amber and the ones that are mature are a week or so if not days away. I'll check back and tell y'all what the trichomes are like on the mature side of the plant.

Do a quick read through here.
http://rollitup.org/t/how-to-use-the-riu-faq.822686/
You said you were using a phone not a computer and that may be some of your issues im not sure. I read something about tablets at one time but I use a laptop. If you cant find a solution in the faq's post a question to the moderators and be patient. Do a little of your own searching fist though I know the answers are out there. This site is pretty easy to navigate once you figure it out and like @hinju said, there is a fine group here that are willing to help.
I hope you figure it out soon, I love bud porn.

Okay I got the device in, wow is that difficult to use lol. Going to see if I can't jerry rig my camera try pod or a mic stand to stable it more. But I was able to evaluate enough. It seems to be like 2-5 percent Amber , 25%clear and the other 60-70 percent is milky white. This from examining multiple locations and each location had roughly the same ratios. I didn't even check the node that sprung up the side because the buds are so immature on that node growth.
Is it possible to harvest the side of the plant that is ready and to let the other growth finish maturing? I really don't wanna harvest a plant that's mostly Amber trichomes.

Mine has a pump that sticks to one of the "walls" of the reservoir (with suction cups) and has a hose that introduces air into the water stream.
In addition I have a dual output air pump that I run a couple of big stones with as well - I figured the more bubbles the better.
Lol.
I just use tap water with a touch of Super Thrive.
I love the thing !

Yes. There are a lot of growers that will cut the top branches off and let the rest finish for another week or so. They will never fill in to the point the main colas did but you will get a little extra in the yield and hopefully get them to mature to "your" sweet spot of preference. I am harvesting this grow in a couple of stages to show my apprentice the difference maturity makes in the final product. This is a totally new strain for me after a long grow hiatus so its School days for us both. I like to have early cuts for a upbeat get out and do shit high, and some late harvest (over mature) knock my shit out stuff as backup. As you learn your favorite strain you will find exactly the percentage of trichomes that have to change for it to be perfect (for your preference). I personally don't look for percentages. I've smoked a looong time and once you know your strains you just know when its ready. But then again I have been caught carrying on conversations with my girls. Right now my AK47 is pissed off big time and not talking to me at the moment. She is looking like a worn out crack head and wont listen to a word I say. I hope she makes it another week or two. Need 11 days by the breeders numbers and I can see just a few pistols starting to change.

Posting pictures yet?
Porn dude!!! Bud Porn!!!!

Nah man it still won't let me post. I want to so bad. There was one good cola ready for harvest at mostly milky white with maybe 10%amber and like 1% clear. The cola is about the length of the average hand with most growth at the top. Now I have it on a drying rack and when I was trimming the bid I accidentally cut a bud from the bottom right by the stem. Enough for maybe one sneak a toke one hitter. I thought since I'm knew I would teach myself the difference in stages of taste and smoothness and potency. So I smoked that little badgered raw. Honestly it's most head high and it creeped on and is holding strong. God I wish I can get pictures to you guys on here. I have a pic ready but it won't let me attach

Nothing like that first sample hit.
Try this. This late in flower you wont loose more than a few hits but its invaluable knowledge to have especially if your going to grow the same strain (clone) again. Pick two small buds from the bottom. One all clear, one that you know is over ripe and along with what you decide as "your" perfect you will "know next time.
You will find it almost like three different strains. Potency and effect are both affected by maturity.

Definitely will.thanks
And as soon as the site returns my help request and allows to use functions on the site I will post a pic or two. I think it's cause I'm new or on my phone. I'll try and see if I can't get to a computer to post them and see if that works.

Sativa strains will almost never get milky or amber. They stay clear forever! Must be all of the CBD?
Watching for actual trichome color change with a loupe and calculating percentages to determine the optimum time to harvest piques the interest in the OCD side of me. Me and my sidekick actually road tripped all over town tonight looking for anything in the 40x or above range. No such luck. Digital microscope will have to do... and I should be able to get some good pictures.

Try a jewelry store? You are looking for a jeweler's loupe.

Is that true? I grew regular old mexican bag weed for years and I swear the trichs never turned.... I just thought I was harvesting too early.... they would easily go over three months in flower.

I'm pretty proud that I haven't 'accidentally' knocked off a little bud or two (I have been stalking a few though). I have one plant that should finish at around 9 weeks (three more to go)... if it doesn't... well.... lets just say there will be 'accidents'.... Over a month on the others at least. I have one bud that goes from my elbow to the top of my palm.... so so pretty... but she'll be torturing me for six or seven more weeks I think.

Jewelry store, just a little late, We drove past by the time we thought of them. I didn't turn around thinking they wanted jewelry store price also.

In the old days I guess I never considered them changing color as an individual trich. it always comes down to that feeling of relief when you take a good whiff, eyeball your favorite bud all around, and you just know.....Finally!....its time.

I'm no longer stalking......I have the sacrifice picked out.....lol

That's good to know because I have a plant showing sativa thru and they and its not an auto. The one I harvested a cola off of is an auto low rider of unknown strain. But as I mentioned earlier I smoked a little raw bid no bigger than a dried one hit. High lasted nearly an hour or just over. Tasted like shit but potent. The plant smells strong like fuel with somewhat of a sharp citrusy note. From what I've read on line it's got to be some for of diesel based on growth rate , smell and taste ( lick my fingers after trimming for dry) the pic on my profile is the top of the bud that was mostly milky white that I harvested yesterday.

Okay heck yeah guys and gals finally can post some pics and return the favor. Again, I am so greatful for the help. Ive been in other threads where people treat you like your stupid for not knowing as a beginner. This is everything I got. Please pardon my trim job on the harvested cola from my 1foot low rider. this is as long as my hand and nearly as wide.
Now for the others: The tallest one in white bucket, shes the one I took clone from because she hit 1 ft tall in under a week from seedling The female average has grown as expected and was planted at same time as the white bucket. The young root was also planted at the same time in same size container as you see there but it was the slowest growth of the three germinated seedlings. For some reason the root system is not very strong so I left in the small pot for now until I harvest the auto I have spoken of. Now , we have the unknown auto midlife which was only 4-5inches tall (gift and had to revitalize it), I decide to top it and it has begun to grow larger again. Doubt it will break a foot though. Following it is my very first pride and joy the mature auto that I partially harvested the one cola from. You will see the new cola and you will see how thick the base of the cola is which makes me happy knowing it will be a dense healthy cola from top to bottom where as the one I harvested yesterday is sporadic. Then there are the pics of my home made cloning dome. They are two 8" saucers stacked and held lightly by tape. There is a hairline crack between the two saucers where the rest on eachother and let that be as ventilation. No other holes in the saucers. Should I add a hole or two near bottom? THen last but not least is the partial harvest. Again this plant smells like fuel, hint of citrus and sweet to taste. I also wanted to add that the midlife auto smells somewhat like coffee or like when you walk in to starbucks. No joke, since I don't know the strain I am calling it the coffee house.
Should I trim the bottom of my newer plants? I topped the two in two gallon buckets and as you can see on the white bucket the lower colas are all ready growing up the sides. I am picking up some thin support sticks after I get payed on the 1st because I was hoping to train the lower colas to rise up, they kind of sag now.

Looks like you are off to a good start. Only thing I see with the humidome is it looks like its outside. If direct sunlight hits those water drops they turn into little magnifying glass's and will treat your clones like they are ants.

Thank you , it feels good to hear that from someone who has grown before. Yes the dome is outside in a corner where it doesn't get direct sunlight and stays in the shade. The sun rise on the front side of the house and angles back over my lawn and I have a big oak tree that provides indirect sun to that spot. It will get some direct light though now that I think of it, like 30-45 minutes worth. Would it be better to stow it in my garage? Which its always humid during the day in there but gets room temp at night.
