first grow

Ah, total experiment then, cool.

Whatever the idiot who sells you the HPS says definitely don't veg with it, you can get some gnarly mutants.

I will probably always use floros after this great experience with them.

If i was growing for production of high yield HPS is definitely the route, just not sure i want to take that step.

Well the spotting is still attacking the main kola fan leaves. And also a little on my nodes leaves. But the plant is showing great results. Just did another 1 cup of water and hydrogen peroxide, lots of white hairs coming out of the few bud spots I wanted. I'm mobile atm I'll post a couple pictures tonight.

in my experience it doesn't go away.

My fan leaves that burned early on are still burned in the same place. Since you're in flowering you probably won't notice a change other than healthy flowering, you would notice it on new growth in the veg stage.

Can't wait to see what you're getting.

also, remember that as your blooming you're going to need more phosphorus, i wouldn't use recommended packaging dosing, i would dilute it alot from where you were before, but i also wouldn't just water them.

I only used 1/4 cut hydrogen peroxide and 3/4 distilled water. I am not using any fert.

here is an update picture. only been a few days but still showing results by day.

The new growth looks good man, and it looks healthy near the cola. Glad she's recovered man.

Nute burns are like scars, you learn, and eventually you forget they happened.

I only see 1 light on her, that's just for the picture taking right?

Yeah I pull her out to get better pictures. Yes, I am glad the kola is healthy. I hope the next week shows good results. I'll keep An updat

Here's a shot with the lights running aiming up, so you get an idea what my baby is under:

I finally felt comfortable clipping off the first set of fan leaves (the first set, only had 3 leaflets) and the first true leaves.

They suffered some twisting because i had no overhead lighting, so the plants were twisting to get light. There are also some phosphorous burns from learning the hard way about bloom/flowering nutes on vegging plants!

2rollitup5.png

This gives you an idea how the CFL halo sits on my canopy. In flower I'll switch the lights to 2700 / 2850 and add 2 more (so 3x2850 3x2700) and add another clip lamp to accomodate. I will also be moving the overhead 60W cfls to side lighting during flowering, with a 2100k 60w and the 50/50 10,000k / Actinic

2rollitup3.png

And this is a desperate attempt to get a shot of the plant without blinding the camera with light from the cfls.

2rollitup2.png

Right now that is:

4 x 25W 5850k
1 x 60W 10,000k
1 x 60w 50/50 Actinic (420-450nm) and 10,000k

220W CFL with 5 different light temperatures (all spiking between 420-450nm and a good number of red/yellow from the 10,000k and the 5850k) on the main plant with a dwarf in a pot next to it that is doing some recovery vegging under the same 2 60watters.

5/19 light cycle, 3rd week of veg.

Oh, and i finally bought a timed power strip, so I don't have to keep hitting the switch myself.

Dang, looks good. my veg plants were small, i ran them 24/7. this one has stretched so much here's a pic of it when i switched it over.
Both green and gray pots were males.
IMAG0407.jpg

they were in veg for about 5 weeks

i have my fingers crossed, I'm not really dependent on these for supply, it's more something i want to experiment with.

I'm not getting any reproductive anatomy yet, but I truly do have my fingers crossed that the primary is a female, if it's a male i may try to cross it because I am fairly positive this is one of my headband seeds, now that the leaves are showing their indica traits.

It could also be thunderfuck, kinda wish i had labeled separate bags.

actually, what is the pot your plant is in made out of? is that metal?

Mine's doing alright, just trimmed my first 2 pairs of fan leaves and i'm nurturing the nodes below them

I opened up alot of the space around her.

na its plastic, she is doing awesome, but the spotting hasn't gone away. i trimmed the nodes lastnight, they were starting to sprout bud spots. i dont want a bunch of popcorn nugs, i want big fat juicy ones. im trying to keep it to the minimal of but spots. atm i belive there is only 4 main spots. the main kola has amazed me in the past 2 days, loads of white hairs and keeping the new growth short, not a whole lot of growth now.

next time around im going to go to a hydro shop and get soil. i dont want to transplant this far into flowering. ill leave it be and let it be a lesson learned

looks good!

do you have top lighting? haven't read the whole way, but looks like things are going well and she looks strong.

okay well a little update, looking healthy as can be. But i sitll have the burning on the lower fan leaves ?!?! idk new growth looks good, older just seems to be dying off.
yeah i got top lighting.

If any of the leaves start to yellow and wilt you should cut them off. The burns won't go away, they are like scars, but plants will canabalize their lower elves for nutrients f they need them, and I am pretty sure it's bad if they canabalize a leaf that had burns on it.

another few day update. Nothing too crazy i gave it a low dose of flower bloom to help put the nugs growing. my main kola finally started to sprout all the white hairs.
last picture is my little set up of the side lights. the hanging light is raised up for picture. other wise its about 3" away from the kola
