I'm toying with the idea of a big bud cross. I would like higher yields, but don't want to sacrifice much in terms of quality.

The attitude is running a limited time offer on sensi seeds feminized big bud with a nl#1 cross and I'm trying to track down more information on it.

If grown correctly, I think this strain might have high cannabinoid count.

This is all the info I have on it so far. What I'm really looking for is a grow journal that uses my techniques (topping and LST to produce bushes). Here are some links on the strain:

http://sensiseeds.com/bigbud/1p335.html

I'm not a cash cropper
. My patient is requesting a large amount of butter and edibles (which will be fun experimenting with). She does not enjoy smoking weed and would rather ingest or smoke hash.

My thinking is that a larger flower volume, while sacrificing some quality, will ultimately lead to a larger amount of medicine to be ingested. Any thought?

While growing connoisseur cannabis is exciting and creates spectacular pictures the end result for my weed will be mainly butter production. I'd like to know others thoughts on this kind of growing.

Thanks all and I'll post some week2 pics tomorrow.

Also I think growing bigger plants can help, more trim to make hash and butter, I like to use leftovers from making trim hash for the butter otherwise my butter comes out to strong for my taste, this way you also get more production because you come out with hash, buds, and butter.

An ounce of trim/popcornbuds/leaves will make me a good gram of hash and then a lb of some pretty strong butter.

I was looking at big bud and its derivitaves and I think I would go with Mr Nice Guy Critical mass if I was going for a type of big bud.

but for butter I would go with a plant with lots of branching for more trim, The sweet tooth I have right now I think is going to be very good for this, medium sized plants and very bushy many branches.

For good hash you want heavy resiin producers.

I am really considering getting some more of the vanilla kush seeds...I think the pheno I got is pretty rare as I have difficulty finding anyone who had simuliar results to me, I was calling it a mutant freak plant previously but in flower it has really become very beautiful, It is budding faster then all of my other plants, day 21 right now the buds are very numerous and the size of quarters. If it smokes good definitly getting some more seeds, I took a clone of it at day 14 in flower and gave it to a friend I hope my pheno can live on somehow.

I also think critical mass would be a better option, but because of state laws and a limited time frame I'm force to select feminized seeds. The sensi seeds big bud is the only variety I've found that is feminized. Unless I've missed some other reputable seed companies big bud.
Thanks for the tips on hash and butter. I'm definitely going to use all plant material to yield most product from a grow.

I'm on day 17 of flower and my formations are between nickle and quarter size. The vanilla kush has good genetics and I'm glad it was selected for this grow, but I think a better variety for our needs can be selected. I'll take a look at your journal and see what you mean by mutant.

Well by mutant I mean a few things, it is not really a mutant it is just 'special'....It stunted for no apparent reason several times during its life cycle for long periods of time and grew really slow in general yet remained very healthy looking...secondly the fan leaves are about the size of a basketball on this plant that is only roughly 16 inches in height, If I ripped off a fan leave, including its stem the torn off fan leaf would be nearly bigger then the plant itself...It is about as indicia as you can get, incredibly short/bushy/with huge leaves and blooming much quicker then my other strains

I think most of my vanilla kush plants are on the sativa side of things. They definitely do not have giant indica leaves.

Better late than never. I'm just going to post a bunch of pics and then rant every once in a while.

Here we go...

And here are some pics of the super lemon haze...

I'll put up the week four pictures tomorrow so everyone can see how they have packed on weight. Until next time.

Wow, nice foliage! Try and keep em like that, super good looking plants!
Thank you. I'm giving them plenty of nitrogen. The only leaf drop is on the bottom very far away from the light. The plants are moving all the nutrients and other materials out of them and dropping them naturally. Otherwise it is dark, dark green.

Got a bunch of beautiful bud shots. After this post, the journal will be up to date. Can't believe they look like this at the end of the fourth week...

DSC00982.jpgDSC00988.jpgDSC00993.jpgDSC00978.jpg

DSC00999.jpgDSC00995.jpgDSC00992.jpgDSC00979.jpg

The buds are getting heavy so I'm only moving one plant around to take photo other than under the HPS light. However, next week I'll move the super lemon haze out of the closet and get some bud porn for everyone. It actually has more resin than the vanilla kush, but looks like it will take atleast a week or two longer to mature.

Also, take a look at pic number 3. Do you see the purple leaves? At first, I thought we were running into problems, but after researching and coming up empty (as well as the leaves not browning out or losing green) I think it is genetic. (It started on fan leaves at mid level in the plant). None of the other plants are turning purple, just #1. I think it is a recessive trait. This plant had the most vigorous growth in vegetative, but always showed slight ph issues. It is the only one we cloned, so those purple genetics will live on. However, I do not think it will produce the most out of the VKs. anyways... stay frosty.

Looking perfect my friend. The purple tint on the leaves is probably just a genetic trait. It happens to me all the time:

Like so. This is my Moby Dick, white widow x haze cross at 9 weeks of flower

what's your temps at man
During the day, they range from 75-81 depending upon outside temperature. If it is hot outside (90f+), then the ambient temperature of the basement rises to 73f by the end of day because of all the airflow pulling hot air into it from inside the house.

I place a box fan in the window at night and turn it off in the morning. The nighttime temperature drops from anywhere from 60-68.

Special ordered a muffler for the exhaust fan, because the noise outside from venting is loud. My neighbors barbecue right near the exhaust and it sounds like I'm running a dry cleaning business out of my home. Somewhat worried about exposure and being ripped off.

From what I've read a temperature swing of 10-15 degrees F will shock the plants into producing more resin. I don't think the swing has stunted my plants in any way, but it is my first time and I don't have a control, you know. I've also heard of plants changing color because of temperature, but don't know much about it.
