I just did the topping a few days ago , is growing pretty good to me . Also the main stem is light green but then the two side ones are Purple ??

I know the soil looks dry but i took the picture before watering . Should i start my 12/12 or should i wait ?

Also they've been under light 24/7 , does this gives me a bigger chance of having a Female ?

How much space do you have for the plant to grow?

What kind of lights are you going to use for flowering?

and no, the light 24/7 will have no effect on whether it becomes a male or female. Its already determined in the genetics.

there r certain things they "say" u can do to determine sex which is undetermined until approx. week 3 (as I recall) in veg, as far as the lights go, it is less light on the normal scale of 18/6, meaning 14-16 hrs. of light is suppose to give u a better chance of a female. U r no where near ready to start flowering under 12/12, if u just topped u should wait at LEAST 3 weeks for it to re-generate & grow. the purple stems could be the genetics of this particular strain? or a sign of a deficiency in the plant.

only u can help answer that (purple stems) what strain IS it, u havent said? have u taken ur ph of the soil? that might tell u if the purple stem is from a deficiency?

Marijuana Horticulture the indoor/outdoor medical growers bible by jorge cervantes. Here i pulled it out, to provide the complete info (i cant recall everything all the time off the top of my head, lol).

Environmental factors start influencing sex the moment the seedlings has three pairs of true leaves (not counting cotyledones). Environmental factors that influence sex determination of cannabis include but are not limited to:

Increasing the level of nitrogen makes more female plants. Lower the nitrogen level to create more male plants. Increase the level of potassium to increase male tendencies; lowering the potassium level encourages female plants. A higher nitrogen level and a lower potassium level for the first two weeks increases females.

Low temperatures increase the number of female plants. Warm temperatures make more male plants.

High humidity increases the number of female plants. Low humidity increase male plants.

Low growing-medium moisture increase males.

More blue light increases the number of female plants. More red light increases male tendecies.

Fewer hours of daylight (e.g. 14 hours) increases the number of females. Longer days (e.g. 18 hours) makes more male plants.

Stress: any environmental stress tends to yield more male plants when growing from seed.

There ya go :)

Hmm. I have always thought that sex was basically determined once the seed germinates.

I know that a female plant can hermie w/ heat/stress. But I was totally unaware that you can change or influence the sex of a seedling by using environmental factors.

I don't have Cervantes Bible. I will do some more research on the subject.

Thank You.

u r quite welcome. imo it is the best book out there. I also have the cannabis grow bible which is quite good. It also re-iterates the nitrogen, potassium points, & also says this:

Cannabis plants grow best under conditions between 40 and 80 percent relative humidity (rH). In the higher rH range of between 70 and 80 your female to male ratio may increase.

Cannabis plants grow best at 75 degrees Farenheit. If you do not allow the temperatures to increase beyond this you will improve your chances at getting more females then males. If the environment is supplemented with CO2, the temperature may be allowed to increase as far as 95 degrees Farenheit.

Using MH grow lights in vegetative growth will improve your female to male ratio.
------------------------

I find it all very interesting, & while I cannot say I have been able to prove it, hey I am always willing to try to achieve the optimal grow from the start (which would result in all females from seed), so I certainly try to incorporate all those factors into my grows when possible; it certainly doesn't hurt to try for perfection :)

I have that book and it does say that, but IMO you have more of a chance getting a female from the temps than the light being at 24/7

And the book is awesome! have you seen the videos? they are cool
