Hey again! Time for another update. I added a few more splitters and bulbs to my room so now I have 5 26 watt cfls over my 3 revegging ladies and a total of 9 over my two mids, 4 autos, and two skunks. I have them positioned so that they all have at least one and for the most part, two bulbs within 2 or 3 inches of the foliage. The biggest one is only 7 inches tall, so for right now I am not worried, I have plenty of light in there. The mylar on the walls makes a HUGE difference to when I grew before without it. All my little super skunks look retarted though, I'll try to get some pics up so u can see what I mean. My temps are runnin at about 74 degrees, I have good circulation, and I nuted for the first time today (FF Grow Big). Does anyone have any idea of anything else I can do to stimulate growth? I dont have a ton of money to spend, but I would like to get as much medicine as I can out of this grow.
Oh, another question too. If my area for flower is only 4 feet tall below the lights, at what height do I want to force my mids into flower? I topped one and not the other, so I could run my own comparison study, and the one I didnt top is about 7 inches all and lookin good.
Also, is there any hints as to male or female before the pistils sprout, such as lankiness or minimal foliage or can boys be big and beautiful too? I'll try really hard to get pics on tomorrow.

hmm stimulate growth.. a hydro system will make it grow faster... but its too difficult for me until i get a few more grows under my belt
if i were you i would buy an extension cord and some adapters and a few 42 watt bulbs for about 20 bucks adding more light will get you more bud..
id force to flower either now or in a week or two.. 8-12" is when i flower, to me vegging for a long time with cfls isnt really worth it
and before the actual flowers come out there are preflowers..a female will have like one kinda pointy ball(where the hairs will come out eventually)a male will have 2 tiny balls. before the flowers actually come out...some more experienced than me can sometimes tell a male by the structure....but i had males from some bagseed that looked just like my females, just let them grow out you will see the difference

I'd like to try hydro too, once I have more experience. The only 42 watters I can find are 4100K and I was told that is useless light. Is it still helpful because of the extra lumens or something?

oh, and thanks for the tips on the males, I checked the two that are getting big and they both look female to me, but that could just be wishful thinking LOL

Can anyone give me an answer as to if adding 42 watt cfls will help if they are the wrong color spectrum? The ones I can find are 4100K.

lots of people like to flower with a mixture of the spectrum, i use one (blue)6500k bulb for every 4 2700k bulb IN FLOWER CLOSET so i would assume that it would be beneficial and almost def cant hurt. unless your grow room runs hot.... may wanna make sure tho cuz i dont know nothin about nothin haha

Its best just to wait.. A week or so into 12/12 and you will know 100%. You may want to start some kind of training or bending these plants back. I was too late to start LST so i just supercropped cos i vegged too long. Training is definatly the way to go with CFls due to the poor light penetration also you will get more colas = more bud.
And I dont mean to harp on about it but the 250w HPS is going to give you better results. Youre currently running 364W and achieving roughly the same lumens. If you ran a 400wHPS it would cost you roughly the same and kicks out a sweet 50k Lumens.
I started out with CFls and im not knocking them but if you are somewhere where heat/stealth are not an issue then go for more light, you will notice the difference.

I will be looking into buying an HPS a little further down the road, but I thought I would start with cfls. I'm going to keep them for sidelighting regardless. What do you mean by training? And what is supercropping? Sorry if I sound like a doofus LOL

training... like LST(low stress training) pretty much pull the top of the plant to one side and tie it down... look it up there is lots of information on it and its pretty simple

Okay, I know what u mean. Another stupid question though, if I bend it, wont the side that is facing down get alot less light? I cant imagine thats good.

the principle is that you tie down the top...it grows horizontal because it cant really go vertical... but all the nodes not tied down will grow vertical...giving you more "tops"

maybe you can get the idea better with the pics
it really is pretty easy tho and works like a charm...go tie one of them hos up and try!!

I have attached pics of a WW clone that I pulled off a flowering mother about a month ago. It was very small and pathetic lookin when I planted it, but is look

My question is since it is so little and has so many nodes and even branches already, should I top
it using conventional methods, or should I tie the top down, or should I tie each one of the branches down? What do you
think my best bet is?
I also took another pic of the untopped mid; it almost seems like she has grown since yesterday!
Also, does anyone know why my pics are all in between my words like this? This is nuts!

yeah the nodes are pretty tight on the clone already im not sure if topping would help alot... id would do like you said and tie the branches down so the nodes not gettting light can grow more! haha yeah that looks weird how the pics are..

i actually tried to look at this question from a chemistry point of view. ill have to find out the thread i made, but i know with yeast and sugar its a waste of time. now let me explain, when you first start of there is almost no production because the yeast numbers are to small. latter the yeast grow really fast and produce all the co2 at once so its more like a bomb of co2 rather then putting out the correct amount over long periods.
a better method i looked at is baking-soda and vinegar its also in the thread i made. you can control the co2 by making a drippier. basically a cup of baking soda and a bottle with a small hole in the bottom that drips vinegar periodical creating little puffs of co2.

Put simply LST or low stress training will concentrate your plants efforts into all the buds not just the main cola due to hrmonal changes in the plant. If you can somehow drill a hole in your pot the first step is to tie the plant down (usually after 3rd node) making sure that the top of the plant is lower than other brnches. The plant will kick into action spurring growth at all the other branches of the plant. Further training/ tying down of branches is possible to achieve multiple colas.
This is a great way to maximise yields especially in small spaces where light penetration may be an issue.

Hi again! My biggest mid has grown over 1/2 inch in the last 24 hours. She is at 8 and 3/4 inches; seven weeks and one day old. I am going to put her under 12/12 on the fifteenth. She will be 2 days short of 8 weeks old. I should be flushing her right now, correct? Then the first time she needs water after she goes to 12/12, do I use the bloom nutes right away, or water it once or twice with just plain water first? This is her two days ago.
The one I topped is at a little over 4 inches, does anyone have any idea when to flower that one? Is it gonna grow up anymore or primarily out from this point on? It has new branches and plenty of new growth, it is doin good.
I am also going to try to figure out a way to tie the branches down on my WW clone today. I want her to grow a little more so that she can start making clones of her own. She really seemed to like the nutes this last watering, I'm going to up the dosage next time I fert.

i never heard of having to flush before switching to flower..you can try using bloom nutes right away, but its always ok to water with plain H20
as for the topped one it will still grow taller, topping just slows the top growth and promotes side growth but it doesnt stop growing up
