First time grow ever. Germination question

I have my seeds in a germ. kit from nirvana. I have them in a plastic container w/ clear cover. My question is, what should be the avg. temp and humidity? What is the highest it can be? I had a heating pad under it on low, and it seemed to hot. so I shut it off yest. with the wooden box I made for it and veg stage. The temp was up to 97 degrees and 79% humidity. Thought that was to hot, so I have the door open for awhile. I will be posting pic's throughout my grow.

a wet papertowel inside a ziploc baggie placed on your tv box will do the same thing that you paid $$ for, fyi.
80-85 is perfect for my seeds and i keep them as humid as possible after soaking htem in h2o of course

I had no clue they had germination kits out. Two pieces of papertowel in a plate covered with seran wrap will do the same thing.

hello shipman1, for best results lights need to be on 16/8, temp 78f, humidity 50%. stay as close as you can to this and you will get good results happy growing ;-)

is your light fluorescent ? if so get it closer to the container lots closer ;-)

Thanks for quick responses. I know I could germ with paper towels. But when I bought the seeds from nirvana, they recommended this for 100% germ. I have never bought any seeds before and just wanted to make sure it was done right. Ive read so much about growing the last 30 days, my head is about to explode. My conclusion was to stick to this thread and see what happens.
My light is 2 T5 fluorescents. I will put closer and adjust my timer, Tks lucky. My plan is germ until about 2". Transplant into a 3 gal smart pot w/ soil tab. Veg under the T5's and several 23w cfls until about 18" using 12/1 light cycle maybe. Then transplant into 5 gal smart pots and flower under a 600w hps w/ some other type of lights on the sides of flower box 4'x3'x7H. I'm not sure what to use on the sides yet or if I should use anything. I'm only growing 2 plants and when these leave veg, I will be germ. the other 3 I have. All are suppose to be fem. I am the farthest thing from having a green thumb. So most of the things I suggest will be way out there. I have already screwed up. I bought 5 mystery fems. Then after reading a little, I found out each strand is grown different. So this is going to be fun.

The seeds are a mix of skunk. Before this grow, i had mainly been using bag seeds witch only half germinated, but 7 of ten grew into a seedling. Iam curious to why it germinates and not grows into a seedling. Also if anyone have any advice on how to identify when a germinated seed has the most potential becomming a seedling.

I started this thread with heat problems. So the door has been open for about 4 hrs heat dropped from 97 to 93. Lucky was saying move light closer, did that for last 2 hrs and heat back to 97 degrees. Wth, do I put a fan on this? I have the gauge inside the plastic under the dome, would that matter? It's only 72 in my room. How is this jumping up to 97? T5 light doesn't seem to be too hot. That might be normal temp for under the dome? Light is off for about 6 hrs. lets see how much it lowers.

what were your five mystery fems? and unlucky knows her shit so listen to her most of the time but for now seedlings need to be in a humid/moist area but not overly wet and they need to be in the dark in a warm not hot area so what you could do is use your little germ tray/box and put a blanket or folded towel under your tray between it and the heat pad so that way you still get the heat but not too much then you should see a root in no time...i usually put mine in a paper towel in a bag with a little water then put it in a metal tin with a lid in my grow room under my lights that way its warm and dark

a chinese take out container is what it looks like. i hope it wasn't expensive. i pop me coconuts in a pill bottle with water, and one drop of kelp liquid. when all the seeds have dropped to bottom, i plant. this way i never touch the root. drop them into 1/2" of peat, and wait. anyone who doesn't "up periscope" was a weakling and trouble-maker.

Took out the heating pad and set timer for 6 hrs dark. Came home from work at 1pm, 100 degrees in dome. I,m taking out of grow box and put in a dark place for a few days. This is going to be a rough grow, not even sprouted yet and having problems. I have no idea what these seeds are Nirvana doesn't label them. They are just 5 indoor fem. seeds. Another question, will that heat mess up or kill the seed? I have germed several seeds before, with the paper towels. That was over 10 yrs ago, didn't know anything about growing, still not much, but at least I know there a 2 stages now. The plant or two I grew way back when, I veged for about 4 mo. didn't see buds, so I tossed them,,,,,lol That sounds stupid as hell, but I thought to grow a plant, you just let it grow. Wasn't on the net back then and didn't tell anyone I was growing + they were bag seed and I just wanted to see what would happen. This time is different, I have more info and a little $ to invest.

Here is an update on my fist grow. The tall one on the left is 45 days in veg. and the other two are 35. All have had slow growth. Putting them in flower in a week.

These were put in fox farm ocean forest soil when 2" tall, Was told that has too much nutes in it for a seedling, thinking that might be reason for slow growth. These have been under a 2 t5 lights. I have topped the biggest one twice ( to get 4 main colas) and super cropped the two main branches. The second from left was topped about 10 days ago and will be doing again soon. 3rd and smallest hasn't been touched, it has has a rough time growing. might top it though, she's looking pretty good. Will be flowering under a 600 watt hps and a few other lights for sides, any suggestions?

I figured out...soak the seeds in water 12 hrs them plant directly (I use party cups first three weeks) then after some roots are nice and established move to final pot
Good luck just letting you know what works for me very close to 100 percent of the time
