Chlorine is easy to filter out, all you need is a carbon filter. You can buy water pitchers with carbon filters in them at most stores. They can't filter out salts though.

Yeah, you could leave the top of the plant on. I just figured if you cut it off then the branches might grow better.

With the fan, just try to make sure it isn't enough to make the leaves move around. Actually, speaking of air movement, I read that it increases growth if you have the air moving from above the plants downward, instead of upward. From the graph I saw, it looks like about 10-12% more growth. Just need to make sure the air comes in below the lamp so it doesn't pick up a lot of heat from it.

By the way, you don't actually need a fan to blow the plants around if you want to shorten the stem growth, all you need to do is rub the stems between the internodes or brush something across the tops of the plants, as the article I linked explains. Basically, it appears that moving the tips of the shoots rather roughly suppresses stem elongation by 10-50%, usually around 20%, at least in tomatoes.

About the spray, it looks safe and is supposedly good for spider mites. As long as it's only in vag stage it should be okay. I certainly wouldn't spray it on buds though. I'm sure it wouldn't taste very good or be safe to smoke.

Hello Bob,

Thanks for the input I really appreciate it.

Nice article, and sure helpfull.

When it came to water. I found that in holland we dont use chloor as I thought! So water filter will not be needed I think...

So I can use directly the tap water?!

I have aquarium heater and 50 liter water container, I just fill the xontaimer and heat it to 22c add my nutrients, then water directly.. Is thats okay??!

I have some issues as will brother.

Please look also at my updaye below.

Thxxxx

All the best and keep it safe

So I found my self with a pinch of plants next to TD :hump:.. I have running at the moment

** begining of week 3 in this photo.

DSC_0131.JPG

Every thing was going great till next day!! I discovered some very small gold rust on one of the leaves

DSC_0157.JPG

I sayed maybe its probleem with PH or nuts!

So The same day I just gived PH water of 5.6,

The day after it spread more!!!

And the day after it spread more!!

DSC_0148.JPG DSC_0158.JPG

I gived here yasterday 6 liter of just PH water of 5.6 1,5 liter x 4 times, 20 min in between and each time the run of comes 6,5 PH.. EC OF 0.8

Plus I found one very small white worm not bigher than 1 mm that move very fast it dives in the coco!!!!!!!!!!

I try to search for more in the run off I couldnt find! I try searching with my hands in the coco I couldnt find any as well!!

I dont know if its Springfield or this very bad (avera) !!

So I have used Spray and grow for the first time, i sprayed all of her yasterday also under the leavs and top of the soil

Here is she after flushing and spraying

DSC_0149.JPG

Not very happy as you can see!!

My guess now or its PH

Or any sort of nuts deficiency like calcium or mag
My tap water is. 0.5 CC so I dont know should I add cal \ mag!!???

Or its this worms???

Here is she today

Nothing to worry about really. It's rare to have every leaf looking perfect anyway. The important thing is that it actually looks pretty healthy. I wouldn't add cal/mag since your water already has plenty. To combat soil bugs you can put a layer of sand over the top, like 1/2 inch. They can't crawl through it. You can get it at aquarium supply stores.

Hello Bob,

I found that my plagron coco is buffred between 6 and 7 thats why whenever I flush it will just comes out 6.5!

My EC is 0.5 and ppm is 220\240 I believe
Thank you

It looks similar to what you get with ph fluctuations Bubble. Had a few cases myself this grow. I'd flush your coco until you get runoff the same ph as what is going in. Make sure you keep emptying the runoff before you measure it (i.e. measure the fresh runoff). It comes out in different values so measuring the whole volume of runoff mixed together may be misleading.

I'd flush with 2 x pot volume, 1/2 dose of nutes with ph 5.8. Measure that last few mls of runoff. You want that coming out at 5.8 or the same as what you're pouring in. I'm no expert but this is what I did to fix my ph issues. HTH

Awesome setup too btw! I saw the pics in your other thread as well. Nice job :bigjoint:
Thank you outler!

At the moment am still satisfied except some small things about the cabinet it self like small light leak and some other stuff like no holes to get wires out and more small other stuff

And not very nice after all to have sick plants with all expensive equipments and so on :s and not even knowen whats going on :(

At the moment am busy with my veg room

400w MH

I just bough regular ballast for it plus the T neon 110w I have
Ill finnish this one very soon hopefully, then I am thinking in this for Growlab 150cm wide x 80 depth x 200 length for another flower room

2x 400w hps or 1x600 and 1x 400

The same setup basically except that Ill use tent this time No need for such cabinet!

I use plagron coco, its written that its buffered between 6 and 7 ph thats why each time whatever ph water I add it cames out 6.5!!!

Maybe some one more experienced in here will amswer us!

Yeah whatever it is you've caught it early. It looks like the start of a magnesium def or ph fluctuations.

If your runoff is not above 6.5 or below 5.5 I would not be too concerned TBH. Some say to measure it, some say don't. I record it myself (first time grow in coco). When it was coming out at 5 and 7, I had problems. I just flushed it and started over. Coco is good like that. Plants don't like it so give 1/2 dose of nutes with it to minimise further shock of washing away nutes it needs. Found that one out the hard way myself.

Here's what ph fluctuations look like. Yours looks very similar to the first stages of this.

Mg will look like this:

It looks like the very first stages of either. You'll know when it's ph problems though. It goes a real white sort of colour whereas mg is a sort of fading.

Dont worry so much about run off ph in coco just make sure everything you put in is between 5.5 and 6.2ph.As far as the leaves make a epsom salt foliar spray with 1/8 tsp in a quart of water, spray the plant down and see if the condition improves, before you go crazy adding nutrients.

Doesn't look like anything to worry about to me. If you're putting hydro nutes through it at the recommended concentration then I don't see how you could have any deficiencies. Like I said, every leaf is not going to look absolutely perfect, nor do they have to. My only suggestion would be to buy a ZeroWater water purifier at Walmart or somewhere and stop using straight tap water. You're just asking for trouble that way. You have no idea what's in that water. Once you have pure water then yeah, you could probably use some extra cal/mag if the nutes are deficient in them. You have $50 don't you? Well that's how much the largest ZeroWater unit costs, which holds 23 cups. That's what I use. Nobody can help you if you use tap water because nobody knows what's in your tap water.

Do an ec or ppm test on your tap water to get a rough idea as to its content. Some nutrient manufacturers count on the use of tap water.Canna is one I know.So before you rush out and filter out all your cal/mag thats already in your water, check it heh.Otherwise youll just waste money adding back in what you filtered out.

Appreciate the advice..

How often should I flush?!

Becouse when I flush the auto it gived symptoms of over watering so I sayed I wait till it dry up. But then i let it for too long but again Isaw symptoms of low watering.. :wall:

Very nice and frustrating to see all kind of mistakes one after another :-D!!
