first time grower male of female calyx?

Bandit I didn't see your post till just now... haha sorry I said the same thing, wasnt intentional lol
::gasp:: you stole my words! It seems you're the real bandit here! I'm a regular Louis C.K. Haha not sure day drinking suits me.

skidsteer: sorry your thread got turned into this. It happens from time to time on here it seems. But most the people on here are really helpful and most everyone here shares the true love of growing cannabis. The truth is there are a billion different opinions out there on the "right way" but you'll just have to find out what is right to you. But what I can tell you is that there are 8 healthy girls just in the other room and that wouldn't be the case if it weren't for this community. And not to hop on your band wagon but thank you both for your service guys. May the god of cannabis keep your bowls ever full as a small payment for your contributions and pain.

I have actually enjoyed sitting here burning a good one and reading thecannacove and yourself call dude out on his B.S.!!!! Good shit guys! I have been researching and researching all the posts on here and learned a lot of very good info. With the exception of that bag seed that turned out to be male all my others fems are nice and healthy and I owe it to the guys like yourself. Will be posting pics on the results of my first grow within the next 7 to 10 weeks!

Yeah, if there's no need to rush as they don't produce any pollen in the early stages

It's not often I receive a "thank you" as people often misunderstand my twisted ways.

That has always been our experience, males typically show gender before female, but not always

BSD0621 does appear quite sure of himself by his use capitals letters to extenuate his beliefs, as true or flawed as they may be.

Yeah, I can read. I read this 15 minutes before your "starting to show male" post. From NOTHING to "starting" to show male in 15 mins.. impressive bro :what: smh

Oh and how the %*¿& does a plant "start" to look male? There's 3 possibilities, not showing, looks female, looks male... No starting to look like something. Go germinate more means on you graphics card. Lol.
um, do you not know the biology of a plant? #2, If creativity scares you then you are on the wrong planet my friend

Lol, ok, I'M the one that knows nothing about plant biology... You got me..

Not afraid of creativity, I just see absolutely no reason to bust my computer open to place sine beans my graphics card when i can a glass under the faucet and drop some beans in it and be done with it. But I don't know plant biology, so what do I know...?

I'm done with you man you're making a fool of yourself on your own, I don't need to continue point out your B.S.

Male plants show sooner. But I've only grown a few hundred plants in my life and thats just my experience.

Well gee golly good god damn! BSD0621 got hammered on. I'm not taking sides, cause I don't know much about anything. But last summer, I grew 7 plants outdoors. Two turned out to be male and they did not show sex til about a week after females showed.

I recently started 10 seedlings on my indoor grow, and 6 turned out to be male. The four females showed their sex about two weeks before the males.

So thus far, my experience has shown me that the females show sex first. Of course, my third grow may go differently.

Lighten up on BSD0621 though. He's cool.

yeah and the "bible" say's otherwise.. I truly believe males show last as an attempt to WAIT until female plant creates some good calyx's ready for pollination. Should be common sense.

You are assuming that in nature every plant starts life at the same time. The reason males show sex sooner is because the longer they wait the greater the chance that any available pistils will be pollinated by OTHER males. It doesn't pay to wait, only under your specific circumstances (Both plants beginning life at same time) would that make sense. In reality, male plants are usually more vigorous and show sex sooner than their female counterparts. A pistil can only be pollinated once but a male flower can pollinate hundreds of pistils. The male plant that blooms last is the male plant that has the fewest chances to pass on it's genetics, so late-blooming males will be removed from the gene pool by natural selection over many generations. You are just too stubborn to admit that you were wrong and you're trying to bend the logic to suit yourself.

From most of the peoples posts and stuff Ive read it seems males do generally show sooner. But it wouldn't surprise me if on occasions famles show first. Probably comes down to genetics and all that aswell.

And you do know that the light cycle has a big impact on a plant correct? Not assuming everything in life starts at the same time but does flower/fruit around the same time.
